    a bit of a disgrace that for a new airport, there are no escalators down to the train platforms/tracks. You either have to wait for a lift/elevator or carry your cases down the stairs. Depending on timing it can be quicker to take a regional train or S-bahn to the central station; they leave from the same area but different platforms/tracks; just check the display screens. The S-bahn makes more stops but doesn't have as much space for luggage as the FEX. Also the S-bahn arrives on the upper level at hbf

      The entire airport is a disgrace. Terminal 1 may be fine and all, but once you go into details and look at Terminal 2, you wonder where all the money went. Terminal 2 looks like a 3rd world airport. I heard baggage claim is also quite problematic, though I didn’t experience that myself. You‘re also absolutely right with the elevators, imagine having to pull up a 23 kilograms suitcase up these stairs if you don’t wanna wait 20 minutes for a space in the lift - and that with a S-Bahn train. Imagine a full packed regional train arriving, many people getting off for the airport 😬

      Interesting question! It seems that the shown ticket machines don’t accept cash (There are no facilities to insert coins or notes). But I think that the ticket machines vis-à-vis will do (just beside the escalator). You can get a quick lock at 3:18. This machine seems to be is a different version, that should also accept cash/Euros.

    Which train should I get if I want to go to Zoologischer Garten?

    • @goingplacesyt
      @goingplacesyt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm I believe the best way is to take the FEX as in the video, and get off at Berlin Ostkreuz. Then change to the S-Bahn line 7 towards Potsdam Hbf. Please someone correct me if I am mistaken 🙂

    • @elevat1on
      @elevat1on ปีที่แล้ว

      @@goingplacesyt Thanks for the response! I was under the impression that there were trains going directly there? RB23 or something? I also think I can take S9 directly there without changing?

    • @KaterChris
      @KaterChris ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elevat1on You can take the RE8 trains towards Wismar or Wittenberge or the RB23 towards Golm (or Berlin Charlottenburg on weekday evenings or weekends), they each depart every hour but are scheduled so that there is roughly a 30-minute interval towards Zoologischer Garten. You can also take the S-Bahn commuter rail line S9 that stops at Zoologischer Garten, and while it departs slightly more frequently than the RE/RB trains (every 20 minutes) it takes longer (about an hour compared to 45 minutes on the RE/RB). Please keep in mind that this all is only valid until Dec. 2025 when there will be a big shuffle with train connections to and from BER airport due to the opening of the Berlin-Dresden mainline.

      Yes it does. The Berlin ABC ticket you can get from the ticket machines allows you to use any kind of public transit in Berlin. Regional rail, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Tram, Bus, Ferry...you're free to change between lines freely as many times as you need.
      Little side note: If there's one departing shortly, you can also take the Intercity to Rostock Hbf/Warnemünde. They're free to use with regional tickets until Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Might save a few minutes and is a bit more comfortable.

    Nice video. Quite helpful for new travelers. The excessive graffiti during the train ride was an eyesore. I don't understand why people bother to spend considerable time and energy to spread ugliness in that way. All that paint would cost money too which makes it more baffling. What do they get out of it? Some say it must be the work of gang members but nothing shouts out LAME louder than this form of "art". Looks way more ugly than scary in case the latter was their primary intent. Sorry to go on a tangent - this is of course not unique to Berlin or any single particular city.

    • @BruscoTheBoar
      @BruscoTheBoar 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      S-Bahn Berlin doesn't even bother removing graffiti on their trains anymore. They just cover it with paint now. Basically destroying a graffiti with graffiti. Uno-Reverse-card.
