every other tutorial ive watched explains stuff using words they haven't and wont explain, and also do it in one or two videos so its rushed and doesn't tell you everything. These tutorials are giving me proper insight into the game as it breaks down every game mechanic step by step and explains them thoroughly
@@imbored3795Well I have a different opinion on the animation than you, but I didn't mean any harm. The animation doesn't matter much anyways as it's the explanations (I complemented) that count. If I came off as rude before, I apologize.
I'm happy I found you! I love your teaching style. I like how you add a menu system to help visually organize a player's possible actions. Very solid teaching tool. Thank you
This video is a life saver for a new DM like me. Literally played D and D for the very first time with my first timer friends a few hours ago and I was the DM. All of us were so incredibly overwhelmed during the combat phase because it was so difficult to keep track of all the rules. I wish I had seen this video before the session. The animation and your explanation helped memorize a lot of the things. I shared this video with my group because they are equally clueless.
This man made my life as a dm so much easier and better. I was confused on a couple smaller aspects (even after reading the books) but this is an amazing series to teach people all they need to know. THANK YOU!!
14:55 Oh, so a party member can use a help action to do a medicine check to stabilize their knocked out friend. That's really good to know. And if they roll a single 10 or higher, that has basically the same effect as the unconscious member rolling 3 saves?
Going to host my first session ever on Friday. played once 6 years ago. I have read through the basic rule set, now watching these videos, togheter they are totally awesome and you get a good grip of the game. Your videos are pure gold for anyone want to learn, simple and contains good information!
I have been playing 5th edition for about a year and a half now. I just watched this video for like the 8th time just to brush up on the rules. Seriously, thank you for making this.
I'm a first time DM (my first game is this Saturday!) and these videos have been incredibly helpful. Great animations and instructions for practical use. Thank you!
I can't tell you how helpful this entire series is even for the GM to keep referring to when fatigue or nervousness (I'm still new) makes us uncertain. I share this series with my players to help, because it's sooooooo clear. Great work!
This series has been a blessing. I have just started playing DnD with my wife and daughter - all of us noobs. I don't think we would have started as easily if we hadn't found your videos. Brilliant work, sir!
Best D&D tutorial by far. It's simple and isn't to complicated. With just a few notes, I am ready to play some D&d. earned yourself a like, and a new subscriber!!
I am loving these videos! I played a one shot and wish I had watched this first. We will be starting a full campaign soon; I feel so much better prepared now.
This has been so helpful. My friends are starting a dnd campaign soon and have been talking about it for a while, I was confused so I watched this and it explained so much. Thanks.
Thank you CJ, reading the rules can be a bit much, but seeing real examples helps understand those rules, now when I re read the book, I imagine your videos. And the animation quality is perfect for learning purposes.
Tonight I'm Dming for the first time.. also happens to be my first time playing DnD, but after a binge on all your videos I'm hoping for the best. Great video series (plural)
This helped me out so much. I got D and D for Christmas but it didn't have the players handbook so me and my brother were trying to figure out everything.
Amazing series. I usually watch one of these videos, read the relevant Player's Handbook section and then watch the video again. This process really helps me to understand the context well.
It must’ve taken a lot of planning and work to make these videos, and it really paid off. I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m going to be DMing (and being involved in a D&D game in general) for the first time soon, and your videos have been extremely helpful. Thank you!
This is ultimately the best series for players. Clear, straightforward actual lessons, with professional, educating but simple animations, and what's best: No youtuber bullshit and stupid jokes.
you make everything so much easier!I read the rule book and I had still had no idea how to play.this really helped.Im trying to get into d and d but most of my friends don't even know what it is so I will have to dm
Thank you for going through this in an easy to understand manner. I have some young players that reading the rule book is difficult. This video will really help them.
I’m playing for the first ever time soon with two other guys who’ve never played before. Since I’m the one who brought the whole thing up and got the starter set im gonna be the DM by default. This is so helpful
An amazing video, useful, straight and informative. I would only have a doubt about that hiding at 10:45. Unless there is a way out to another place from that spot she can move to, she may have rolled a successful stealth check, but the enemies KNOW she is there, and if they go there and look they will automatically find her, no need to roll dice.
This series is super helpful! I'm going to be playing with my siblings in a while, and I'll be the one dming. Are you going to make instructional videos on dming? Like how to determine what monsters have what stats, what to do when somebody does something you didn't plan for, ect?
Thank you for these videos! I've read the starter set books, watched multiple videos etc and had no clue how to calculate damage with a weapon for an attack. It makes so much more sense now. Long way to go before being even proficient but at least we can start the starter set!
I wish I watched your videos earlier! I went through the whole player and dm guide, but the combat was still pretty complicated to me. You explain it all so great! Thanks.
Excellent work. Thanks. Seemed like at the beginning of the second round the bad guys who didn't roll for initiative would be able to get up and attack. They are some heavy sleepers.
Great video! I really enjoy the creative aspect of DM'ing, but I have trouble remembering all the rules. This is a concise and clear presentation. Thank you so much!
These videos are fantastic! I've been trying to learn what saving throws are all about, and Google has been very confusing (I don't have a DnD group nearby, so I've been learning via the internet). Thanks for making these, I look forward to the next video!
Combat seems to be the one thing that my fellow players have trouble grasping at times. This will help them understand it a lot better. I even gotten a better grasp at a few things that I don't take advantage of.
Thank god. Trying to go from 2nd edition D&D to 5th edition has been a disaster, but this is helping immensely. Maybe I can actually DM and seem like I know what I'm doing now!
Wonderful animations and packed with good info. At 6:40 you mention that "bloodied" does not exist in 5E, but in the DMG it is mentioned as optional: "Tracking Monster Hit Points" section starting on p. 247. You'll find it as a small part of the last paragraph in that section.
The way you explain the game should be an app. As a new D&D player this would be super helpful and help to make the right decisions quicker. Anyone know if this already exists?
Do you have a transcript of this video to use as reference in game? The way you break it down is easier for me to understand than any other way I've seen. And thanks for the great videos - they are great quality and SUPER helpful!
Hey I'm not sure if you can do this on the mobile app but on desk top you can open up a transcript menu for most vids on TH-cam. Underneath the video, right next to the "Save Playlist" button, click on the "More (three dots)" button and the Transcripts option should show up. Its got time stamps and everything.
Thanks a lot for the videos!!! You explain really well and the animations are extremely helpfull. I actually get lost myself when you explain the 5 categories of accions, it was way to fast, but maybe by reading the basic rules i can understand better.
Excellent work. The only point I think you missed was relating combat rounds to real time. A combat round equals 6 seconds, and 10 combat rounds equals one turn, which also equals one minute. Understanding this will help when you deal with spells, or why your DM rules that you can not do somethings for your action as they simply take longer than 6 seconds.
I'm trying to make a character(By myself for the first time) and I got confused as to what I should mark on the saving throws box. Thanks for the assist, bro.
1. I just bought my Player Handbook today (my school's bookstore was selling them for some reason), so thanks for the beginner's guide, mate. 2. Do it.
This is pretty useful. I just started DMing my first campaign but its the second time I've ever played D&D so I'm positive I butchered the rules quite a bit.
7 years later and I'm watching this as a 31 F going to my first dnd session in a week 😊, this has been the most helpful vid still out on TH-cam x
Same here 32M, great learning videos!
Me too, 30 M, after years of listening different tabletop RPG podcasts, I'm finally going to play myself
33 in 4 days and I started dming for my kids last week. Definitely couldn't have done it without this series lol.
This is the best tutorial I have found, really well done!

The animation is top-notch, with understandable explanations to boot. I'll be watching this series.
I second that. Subbed.
Same...
I don't know if the animation is, but the explanations certainly are.

This is the most helpful series I have ever watched on youtube.
Leraline, the perpetually sad wizard...What happened to you, leraline??

This channel probably has the highest quality DnD related videos on all of TH-cam. It's extremely helpful. Thank you.
thx for making these amazing videos you are the only guy on youtube that makes good d and d explanations you really helped me learn

Always super handy to look at videos for a simpler explanation of stuff!
I love your animations. Easy to understand and I want to play D&D now!
You definitely should, Yanwy.
