!!!!!"PRO" TIP!!!!!! i've done this twice (well, first time was just replacing the water pump... this time its the timing belt) ... that upper pulley with the 4 lil 10mms that you gotta lay on your back for... was a PAIN the first time... this time, i found theres a little rubber grommet covering a hole in the inner fender wall that lines up directly with the lower right corner-most bolt! holy CRAPOLI do i wish i used that the last time i did this... thnx for the vid brov. needed a refresh on the timing marks... back to work :) ~peaces
Oil pump sprocket will only line up every 3rd or 4th rotation because it is not driven at the same ratio as the camshaft sprocket. Previous guy did the job correctly 👍🏻
@@FarpointFarms Thank you for replying. I have replaced the timing belt of my car but i cannot fix back the water pump pulley because of its very tight position. Any advice on that?
hi there. I am thinking about losing up the tension on my 4g69 lancer timing belt which I think its overtightened that's causing my engine to be loud on high rpm. my question is if I loosen up the tension by a notch and tighten back the pulley tensioner bolt to proper torque, is that ok for me to do without messing up the timing?? a reply or suggestion will be highly appreciated..
Anyone know if the bottom cover can be removed without taking the top cover and motor mount off? I need to replace the crankshaft sensor which is under the lower cover.
I had mine kit (Belt, Pump, Tensioner) replaced about 2 months ago and now I get a knock, tap in the area of the timing chain/water pump. I took it back to explain that this noise did not exist prior to his work on my 2006 Outlander but he said it was within the motor so he put an engine oil additive in the oil but again I've got the noise. Most forums say that it's a loose tensioner or a belt issue. What do you think is wrong? I appreciate your help. I'm also dropping off the car in a couple of days again.
I'd bet a bunch that the idler is setup wrong or has improper tension. These are not "easy" timing belts, and can be a real pain to setup right. I'd demand that they put in writing that its "OK" and that you will be covered if it tosses the belt.
Thanks! I dropped it off again yesterday and have yet to hear about the car prognosis. I mentioned what I have read on forums about the various issues. I'll post what is done to correct the issues if it's fixed.
I just did this on a 2011 Mitsubishi galant & put a new crank sensor & now it wont start. Any idea's or help ,id really appreciate. Its cranks & the belts are turning ,but no start. Thanks

Good info. Thanks!
Could you please send me the link for part 2? Your steps are outstanding, thank you.
It should be on the channel

Lord, manufacturers just love to make things as complicated as possible... LOL!
Awesome how to!
Enjoyed watching the video.
The oil pulley is 3 to one
Hi,cannot find the other parts of the video?
UGH... TH-cam had me take it down to music copyright infringement... sorry

This timing belt job was one of the easiest ones I've ever done without power tools 😁👍
Right on!
@@FarpointFarms hi can you please help me my 2004 outlander comes on but won’t Turn over sound like it’s about to start but doesn’t?
Do you have a part 3

There is a set way of getting the tightness right. I think it's 3 ftlbs. if it's too loose, BANG! So be careful!
@@FarpointFarms do u still works on mitsubishi? if so, where are u located?
I own lancers and they make a lot of noise at high rpms messing with the belt could be bad for it and actual video would help figure the problem
I assume the eclipse 2.4 4g would be about the same correct? Don't know how difficult this would be
at 17:20 - How do you figure this is coolant leak ? and is this sludge what appears to be black ? .. if so, is that a lot ?
Texture and the stains it left on the ground gave it away. It was coming from the weap hole.
how many times do I have to rotate the cam to get the marks to line up?
What is the belt size
It's been so long, I don't remember.
Who is that model in the background picture? :31 Is it Xena the Warrior Princess?
I think it is Elvira
Hi. Did you do a part two???
Yes, It's on my page somewhere.
Anyone know if the bottom cover can be removed without taking the top cover and motor mount off? I need to replace the crankshaft sensor which is under the lower cover.
Yes you can just remove the bottom cover. You most likely have to remove small bolts in top cover just to give some wiggle room
hello good day, I try to get part 3 but I can't
Did you did part 3
4g69 is the engine btw
Is this vehicle very reliable for heavy driving to make deliveries, in your opinion?
I have a 2004 I have delivered pizzas in for years, it a very reliable car.
What brand timing belt and water pump did you use.
Gates

Mileage, The belt is due every 60K, but in this case, the Water pump started to leak so I decided to do it all at the same time.
