For those of you who doesn't know what incident is referred to from the otters, on 2008, a Javan langur was drowned by the otters and it was recorded as well. It was said that the langur was disturbing the otters previously causing several tensions between them. Proboscis monkeys had been mixed without any incident prior to this, so its moreso an unfortunate case for an individual.

Never have I thought to see the light of day as a longtime fan of your videos and the Bronx Zoo itself, but I’m more than happy you got to film JungleWorld because it’s definitely one of the best exhibits at the Bronx Zoo! ^^
I honestly haven't watched your videos in a little while, but I am very happy that you've started listing the species' conservation status when possible. I, of course, also love the inclusion of a Conservation Spotlight. Thank you for not only sharing your zoo travels with the world but the importance of protecting threatened species and habitats as well!
Another well done video Zach. I visited the Bronx zoo a while ago and Jungle world was my favorite part. I know that zoo exhibits get outdated from time to time, but this one is timeless.
Wild Asia is one of my favorites for years. I love the insect displays. I also remember the camel rides and the Bangal express. Fond memories. The reptile house and the water bird and tropical bird exhibits are awesome as well.
I visited Bronx Zoo back in May, and Jungle World is certainly a remarkable exhibit. Whats crazy is that at any other zoo Jungle World would be the number one or number two attraction, but Bronx Zoo is so remarkable that theres a solid five or six attractions that impressed me more.
Awesome tour. And the San Diego Zoo is the zoo on top of my bucket list. And to answer this week's trivia Brookfield Zoo for the smallest and Henry's Doorly Zoo for the biggest rainforest. 🙂👍🌿🌱
Best exhibit in the Bronx zoo. So immersive! When I last went I asked the ticket person at the entrance which exhibit he recommended, and he said ' JungleWorld, JungleWorld." My top bucket list zoo is the San Diego Zoo!
I live in Idaho, but got to go the Bronx zoo last month! I went to jungle world. I couldn’t the bats and small clawed otters, and the leopard exhibit was closed. (It was also raining up a storm outside) I also made my own video of the animals I saw, from jungle world, zoo center, (behind the scenes encounters), Madagascar, world of reptiles, and the Congo gorilla reserve. The only animals I took video of outside of those areas was the nyala and sea lions. Because like I said it raining so much water was flowing down pathways like a river. The animals that I saw and put in my video from jungle world was the tree kangaroo, Vietnamese pond turtle, ebony langur, silver langurs, tree shrew, marabou stork, Malayan tapir, Victoria crowned pigeon, frilled dragon, white cheeked gibbon. and Indian Gharial. I also saw the mouse deer but it disappeared before I could get my camera out. I also skipped the insects since they were near the spider, I’ve got arachnophobia. The magnificent tree frogs and sail fin lizard and carpet python were also hiding. (However I got to video the carpet python later in the behind the scenes encounter) It seems we all miss something with each visit.
Love the bronx! Even though I've never been, but planning to go soon! Some of the enclosures are a little dated (mainly tapirs and leopard because I think they should be kept outside) but overall this is really cool! Well done!!!
Sorry for the late comment. Excellent start to my favorite Zoo outside of Florida. I remember visiting Jungle World last year and being blown away by just how spectacular this habitat was. The Stork was one of the animals I wanted to see, but missed. Glad you were able to catch it. Can't wait to see the Asia Monrail tour!
Hello, Jungle World of the Bronx Zoo! Say, Zak, try to visit the Woodland Park Zoo & maybe the Honolulu Zoo sooner or later! Plus, 5 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend..... 1) What other animals do you consider the Alaska Zoo to add? 2) How many Mexican Gray Wolves did the SF Zoo bred so far when Prince & Garcia passed away from the past few years? 3) Besides the dromedary camels, what other camel species did the San Diego Zoo once bred back in 2003-2009? 4) How many new elephants would you predict to arrive at the Oakland Zoo to join Osh? 5) What is the name of the SF Zoo's recent Siberian Tiger that escaped from the enclosure & killed 3 visitors back in 2006? Heaving Pentaceratops!
Awesome tour video! If you want a bit of extra history the giant cloud rat exhibit USED to house a slow loris up until the past few years but, much to my dismay as you can tell by my username, it's no longer on exhibit
I visit Singapore often and have gotten good, high quality photos of the Proboscis Monkeys. I have also been to Borneo to photograph wild ones. They are very interesting species.
Amazing Job!!, I’ve been watching the Bronx Zoo Series on Animal Planet for years but thanks to you I finally got my first look of the Bronx and at this moment I’m in a battle for what zoo is on the top of my list of between Omaha or the Bronx but thanks to this episode I think it’s safe to say the Bronx is on top of my most want to see list right now!!!
I have some very early memories of seeing the Proboscis Monkey in the late 90s or early 2000s right before they left. Unfortunately I was way too young to really appreciate how special that was, but I absolutely remember them being there. Glad to see the Leopard is still in the collection as the website doesn’t list it. It is the one exhibit in the zoo that’s a bit of a blind spot, though. I haven’t been in years, but many comment it’s too small for a Leopard that size. I believe they have a lot of space up by Tiger Mountain, perhaps they’re better suited up there in the future. It’s nice to see the Gibbons finally get some love in a prominent part of the zoo! Years ago they were alllll the way up in what I believe is the nothern part of the zoo off Fordham Road on monkey island. Many fond memories of dragging my family up there after a long day so we could be the only 4 people who saw the Gibbons that day.
Great to see how American zoos deal with conservation and enclosures. Where I live we have a dedicated zoo just for apes and monkeys in a forest. And a zoo that focuses on conservation a lot which opened a fully indoor mangrove based on Belize nature
You should visit Singapore zoo one day. We have 3 Small clawed otters and gibbons inside the orangutan exhibit. 😂😂 Also our east ebony langur is free range, running around primate kingdom (a zone in the park)
11:47 - The leopard enclosure at JungleWorld originally housed black leopards, although it would make a great display for clouded leopards. Meanwhile, it would be nice to eventually see a larger, outdoor exhibit for the zoo's Amur leopards (which can tolerate NY winters). Perhaps the zoo can someday build something similar to the existing Tiger Mountain and Himalayan Highlands.
Here are the zoos I hope you visit someday; - Dallas Zoo (Dallas, Texas) - Fort Worth Zoo (Fort Worth, Texas) - Zoo Miami (Miami, Florida) - Philadelphia Zoo (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) - Sedgwick County Zoo (Wichita, Kansas) - Kansas City Zoo (Kansas City, Missouri) - Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle, Washington) - San Francisco Zoo (San Francisco, California) - Oregon Zoo (Portland, Oregon) - Denver Zoo (Denver, Colorado)
On a side note, I'm trying to find the name of a zoo that I'd visited several times that was in either northern Ohio (or, possibly, Indiana) that was adjacent to a large, public beach. I believe it was up against the great lakes. My family used to visit it several times while my father had to do things near Chicago and we'd head north to stop by family who lived up in northern ohio and then west... I remember that it was a rather tiny zoo that was phasing out most of their larger animals due to space and upgrading facilities for smaller ones. It also had a large tower you could go up that was in the back corner of the zoo. I've got a trip near the area and was wanting to find it again, but couldn't remember the name of it and had just referred to it as a zoo. It was easy to go through the majority of things in a couple hours time which made it a good break point for a long car trip (The other place I remember stopping on several trips that was closet to the other end was the Dunes in Indiana, but that's not a zoo... Anyone know which zoo I'm talking about, I know the last time I went was a while after Ohio messed up with the exotic animal ban that wrecked several of them, and they were looking to get rid of their remaining big cats at the time...
Great exhibit, only flaw that Jungle World has.Amur Leopard do look out of place in that exhibit. The Leopard needs bigger exhibit, it would look nice if the Bronx Zoo build an new exhibit near Tiger Mountain exhibit. The exhibit in Jungle World would perfect for, Clouded Leopards or the Binurong
I don’t know about the 80s, but as far back as I could remember in the 90’s the Amur leopard enclosure housed two black panthers until they passed. I really wish they would move that poor leopard into a more adequate enclosure.
That would be greatly appreciated! If you're interested, we can discuss this further over email - zootoursvr@gmail.com or Instagram - thezoophotographer
I feel awful whenever the proboscis monkey gets mentioned. Because I've actually been to the Singapore Zoo. I missed the exhibit without even realizing it. And the worst part is, the proboscis monkeys wasn't the only exhibit I missed. I missed the Ethiopia exhibit, primate exhibit, Australia exhibit, the fossa, mole rat, painted dog and leopard enclosures in the Africa exhibit, the babirusa and tapir exhibits and the otters were a no show. I'm not too bummed out about the tapirs since we have them in Yangon. I have hopes of one day revisiting the zoo one day, along with the three other zoos there and the upcoming Rainforest Park.
For me the top zoos are San Diego, Nashville, Saint Louis, Memphis and Little Rock and those are on my bucket list because I have already been to Omaha and the Bronx but I would like to go back to Omaha zoo and see the stuff that I missed like the Simmons aviary, The Aquarium, The Sea lions and also a place that’s affiliated with the zoo called Lee G Simons conservation park and wildlife safari but I would want to go back to the Bronx and do the inside of zoo center because when I did zoo center I went on the outside part where the rhino is but I also want to go back and see the bison and the Dhole which is where the zoo used to have polar bears.
Apparently their male has passed but, and I'm just guessing, it could be a situation where there's no point on playing match maker for an older animal. Regardless, I wouldn't call living with 20 other species being alone - especially when they frequently interact with the tapirs.
Interestingly enough, when it comes to the two dragons that you've mentioned, it's pretty much the opposite for me since I've bearded dragons in loads of animal places and I've never seen a frilled lizard.
Just saying but if you do get a chance to go to Singapore zoo who knows you might fall in love with my former favorite Asian monkey the Red Shanked Douc and what I mean by former is that in the year 2009 a female named Toi arrived at the Philadelphia zoo however in 2018 she passed away however after she passed I never knew that I had the luck of getting to see the last of its kind in the United States and also one of the oldest ever in the USA however now I like macaques and snub nosed monkeys along with the proboscis monkey but I still like Douc langurs.
I heard u wanted to see the proboscis monkeys in Singapore! As a matter of fact I live in Singapore! I have videos of the proboscis monkeys in the Singapore Zoo and I’ll be going there again! If you need a video of the whole zoo, I could help you out, if you ever want to contact me for the video, go ahead!

My bucket list zoos are Columbus, Cincinnati, Houston
Can your next Bronx zoo tour (after the wild Asia monorail) be the award winning Madagascar
Like I said before on the Madagascar video, I visited the BRONX ZOO on October in 2019.

It concerns me that the white handed gibbon is all alone in that exhibit. Like why?
Apparently their male has passed but, and I'm just guessing, it could be a situation where there's no point on playing match maker for an older animal. Regardless, I wouldn't call living with 20 other species being alone - especially when they frequently interact with the tapirs.
Why doesn’t Cleveland get included in the indoor rain forests?

Interestingly enough, when it comes to the two dragons that you've mentioned, it's pretty much the opposite for me since I've bearded dragons in loads of animal places and I've never seen a frilled lizard.
is it normal in us zoos to pay extra money for certain areas? unthinkable in europe.
St. Louis does, but that's because it's a free Zoo. Not sure what Bronx's excuse is, although there is no extra admission on certain days.
