    For hook em, it includes grappling weapons, which are Fang wire, gill hook, and combat grapnel, which are weapons with decent traits. (Gill hook is good even without this feat.) Though, I think it is intended to use with a grappling gun, or better yet, a wrist grappler. Are you a pirate or James Bond?

      lol pinning this post. I didn't think of the Grappling Weapons, thank you. I'm hearing the James Bond theme while picturing an angry little goblin shooting a grappling hook out of their wristwatch.

    Medic seems like the most interesting of the three, at least in terms of building an adventure around it. I can picture a bloody gun fueled street skirmish in Galt with large numbers on both sides making a push for more territory among the ruined urban environment. Snipers up above, soldiers, mercs and militias in in the streets, with medics scrambling around to aid their respective side.

      I also picture bomber planes overhead and lots of explosions and sirens in the distance. Then enters the time-traveling techno mage? lol

    I think for the pirate, I would seem it best to give to all the PCs for free due to campaign setting. Ie “you are all sailors assigned to the warship Valeria” and the GM says you all have pirate arc type as well

      I totally agree and some Archetypes are like that (Gladiator and Celebrity come to mind), but it would be nice if ALL the Archetypes could be use for general purposes and not just for that "once-in-a-lifetime game".

    medic is a great archetype. I really like my barbarian medic :)

      @WisdomCheck  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome. What do you think the appeal of Medic is over Herbalist? Is it the ability to handle conditions so well?

    • @tamadesthi156
      @tamadesthi156 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WisdomCheck I would also say that the medic has more bulk heal in combat and better out of combat healing. The better action economy is also nothing to sneeze on.
      The herbalist on the other hand can give out his healing items to anyone in the party so they can patch someone up, if they have the actions to spare.
      The herbalist has a lot more flavour to it than the medic, because battle medicine always feels like a lay on hands, you spend on action and heal someone to full, thats nice mechanically, but doesnt feel right sometimes

      Ok thank you for elucidating. The action economy is something that I overlooked. And yeah, I agree about how weird non-magical healing feels in Pathfinder2. In OR out of combat.

    Pirate weapon feat is OK for monk and current rogue and anyone else that doesn't get martial proficiency. The thing that stands out about it is you get to increase proficiency with these weapons along the same track as your class proficiency. That is not something that is easily attained. Ancestry feats are typically the only other way to gain scaling access to weapons you don't get with your class. And those feats give you access to a small group and typically only scale if it has the ancestry trait.

      Ah, I guess you have a good point - having your fighting skill with your preferred weapon level at the highest rate you have is useful... it just seems like they could be better weapon choices. How about special guns or cannons? They could be on a pirate ship too. Maybe even poison usage. Hell, I'd settle for fun uses for alcohol.

      @Wisdom Check i don't think you are wrong in your initial reaction to this feat. It is mostly meh. Just pointing out the little things that balance it against other feats. To me pirate archetype is a campaign only archetype the gm gives you. Otherwise, i would choose something else.

      It seems like a campaign only Archetype to me as well, but I see that as a problem. It was improved by the firebrands book, including the Dandy and celebrity and several others, but I am struggling to find a purpose for it. Besides campaign dependent. I think I'm going to challenge myself by trying to make a useful pirate.

    I came here to learn more about Poisoner, but Medic is honestly my favorite feat and playstyle in Pathfinder 2e
    Healer is my favorite playstyle in a lot of games and PF does *so* many favors for the nonmagical healers of the world, Continual Recovery and Battle Medicine are so goddamn good you won't even need Heal outside of emergencies, and since it relies entirely on skill feats and an archetype you can play whatever class you want
    You can only heal people in the middle of a firefight once a day but when you're level 7 and can use Assurance to get an infinite amount of 2d8+15 (or 4d8+15-1d8 if you're willing to risk a 5% chance to critfail) healing charges without even needing to roll for success, I don't think that even matters. As long as you don't need to be anywhere in the next 10 to 20 minutes you just get free healing.

      You are totally right. I love the non magical healing options. We are currently in Alkenstar in the live stream and Magic doesn't work here half the time. I added an NPC that I'm trying to use as a Healer using only Poultices with maybe an occasional emergency healing spell if someone's about to die.
      He hasn't been really put to the test yet but I'm excited to see what happens.He's an Herbalist Witch.

    Chemical contagion seems like the enemy reaction to your poison is so bad, it coughs and/or vomits poison spores/ chemicals into an adjacent ally. That's how I see it. Think hateful 8 poison coffee scene.

    battle medicine is a seperate cooldown from normal treat wounds

      I love the Medic archetype on my Orc Bard. I Soothe, I perform battle medicine, then I bang my war drums and pull down my orc mask and scare the living daylights out of our enemies.
