My son loves RED and he's a drummer, so i've been really getting into your songs and the cool rhythms... i even bought a 7-string guitar to help do these drop A songs lol
Red is one of the first bands that got me into metal and therefore guitar and although I often play much more technical stuff then this now days and don't listen to Red much anymore, Anthony's guitar tone, as well as riff writing, is still some of my favorite to this day.
A lot to take in for a veteran guitarist, looking to learn and play this new style of "heavy" rock! thank you for taking the time to explain and share this!!
Thank you Anthony Armstrong! My little brother is learning how to play the guitar, and now I can't wait for him to get good enough to learn this song. I love you're music and it would be awesome if I could hear it from my own brother. I really appreciate your video. I am a huge fan! Rock on!
I have no clue what the hell he be saying he teaches so fast but I'm digging the break down of the riffs visually. His guitar is uniquely/odd put together with heavy string but very genius!!! Never saw or heard a setup Quite like that before.
Love It! This is what it's all about! So, yeah, I had one of my acoustics rebuilt to play as a baritone. The conversion almost killed my guitar (big surprise)but, we worked out the right balance of gauge and tension. Had to change both bridges. Yeah, and I had to learn how to play all over again. However, the quarterly retreat campfire will "never be the same" - totally worth it!
He was really good at explaining everything and it was played clean, also nice. It just wasn't my style of music. Still uping it for it's presentation. Respect.
I've been watching this for days. Anthony does tutorials better than the other people watch as I learn how to play this song much better since.....well it's his song and he is a professional 😂😂😂
I don't even play guitar at all and yet I've watched this video so many times that I now find myself remembering what Anthony's fingers are doing and end up playing air guitar while listening to it wherever I'm at hahaha.
@luisfelipedsm 2 1/2 below standard, 2 below= drop c plus 1/2 equals drop b which is B, F#, B, E,G#, C#, from largest string first to smallest string. (6 to 1)
Man you guys are the best next to Linkin Park I love all your songs I can at times say you guys are a little better than Linkin Park I like that you guys with this album did not go soft like Linkin Park did when they came out with Minutes to midnight and again with a thousand suns.
They are playing Baritone guitars. They are playing in a Drop A tuning. It`s like two and a half Full steps down from Standard. So it`ll be in Standard B. Then you drop the low string down to A. It`s massive. :)
Its crazy how many guitars he has! I saw RED in concert last summer and i was up front and i swear Anothony switched guitars about 5 or 6 times haha i guess thats how you know hes serious about his music:D
THIS IS SO COOL!! I want to learn how to play guitar like this SO BAD. I love my acoustic but my metal-loving heart wants to do the thing (and maybe cover so Red in the future!) It's pretty insane that you're the only guitarist. It DOES NOT sound like it and to hear you live back in November was almost too awesome to handle! Also... "coughs up a lung". BAHAHAHAHAHA
@earp223 Mushok PRS. I recently sold a Gibson Les Paul Golddtop to one of their roadies when they were in Atlanta. Red's guitar tech (great guy) walked me through some Anthony's road guitars (all PRS' of course). He also showed me the SE model PRS made for Anthony with red birds which was nice (future signature model?). Admittedly I'd been a PRS USA addict, but I bought one of these SE Mushok's and have been pleased so far (EMG 81 though for sure).
I'm actually learning from this so I can learn it on keyboard. I can basically layer a couple lead synth patches with a guitar patch. On the chorus I layer a pad, strings, piano and choir voice which is what I would use for the soft outdo.
@Brett B hey man i appreciate the response! I made this comment 5 years ago which is nuts haha, but youre right and since then I've gotten sooooo much better at playing by ear. Cheers my friend
Jeeez.... I remember seeing you guys at Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin Oregon. With Disciple and Brian Head Welch one of the sickest shows I`ve ever seen. I could not believe my eyes, what was happening in that church, lol
@Songwriter4God Hahaaaa! I am! I'm WRITING songs! And so far one of their structure goes drum intro-guitar intro-main riff A-instrumental break 1-Instrumental break 2-Verse/main riff-instrumental break-main riff B-verse from main riff B-chorus-Instrumental break-end. Probably haven't heard THAT structure in a million songs before. A band who doesn't use mediocre structure? Planet X, and Nightwish in early albums. Other bands I listen to DO use regular structures, but don't boast like this guy.
He should've spent more time explaining that bridge section. His fret movement is a bit confusing and it doesn't help that his guitar has no fret markers.
Grant Commerer He changes them all, but the most noticeable change of gauge is on the top string, as it's the one that takes most of the energy when you pick so you need to make sure it's really tight. The rest of the strings wouldn't be any thinner than 12's
@AeroVortex92 yeah that makes sense. I myself own a PRS SE model guitar, and it plays great. Obviously not as good as the $2000-4000 non-SE guitars PRS makes though, and most artists in this genre use those (Skillet, Three Days Grace I think does, Breaking Benjamin, etc.). It sounds great in the video.
@lackthereof1783 Yeah, it's a Baritone guitar. It's the PRS Mike Mushok Baritone from the looks of it. All Anthony did was swap out the stock pickups to the EMGs he mentioned
@themeleed He also plays an SE Oranthi :) But the SE Mike Mushok guitar is the only Baritone PRS. He also customized this one by upgrading the pickups from stock ones. So what he's playing here isn't the same PRS SE Mike Mushok you find at stores. If PRS made a non student $6000 Baritone, he would probably play that too lol
@Songwriter4God Only reason I have no vocals on my channel is cause I don't have a good enough microphone to record 'em with, otherwise I would. And that song I mentioned will have vocals. And my stuff is a lot more unique and thoughtful musically than RED's
Feed The Machine is an awesome song but my favorite is Buried Beneath from the newest album. I have a question. What's type of amp/cab you use? It's have a really nice sound.
It is cool that professional teaches how to play his own song, awesome! Thank you Anthony :)
He needs to do more!
He was a student of my teather
My son loves RED and he's a drummer, so i've been really getting into your songs and the cool rhythms... i even bought a 7-string guitar to help do these drop A songs lol
The exact reason i want an 8 string
Red is one of the first bands that got me into metal and therefore guitar and although I often play much more technical stuff then this now days and don't listen to Red much anymore, Anthony's guitar tone, as well as riff writing, is still some of my favorite to this day.
ROFL...Mike "coughs up a lung".
Wow .. you do look like it was easy! Thank God for your talent!
A lot to take in for a veteran guitarist, looking to learn and play this new style of "heavy" rock! thank you for taking the time to explain and share this!!
I wish more bands would do stuff like this! love this song!
Great job Anthony!! I like the heaviness. Definitely a major influence for me and my band. Can't wait to see this played live!!!
Thank you Anthony Armstrong! My little brother is learning how to play the guitar, and now I can't wait for him to get good enough to learn this song. I love you're music and it would be awesome if I could hear it from my own brother. I really appreciate your video. I am a huge fan! Rock on!
Anthony you are ... god.
Red is godlike.
I love your music!
AWESOME!! Nice and easy to follow along!! Thank You!!!
I love red!.... not only because their music is amazing..but because they are all so beautiful!!
Prs seriously needs to give this guy his own guitar.
They given him a couple customs
He needs a signature model.
@@bradhargis2261 I woulda bought it.
Love their sound!!!
I saw you live last night in Roanoke. You were so awesome that you signed my temporary learners permit.
This is totally awesome, I feel like we're in the same room working on one of my favorite songs! :D
Wow! This band gives lessons!
i havent listened to these guys tht much i just started looking em up and they are awweesssoommmee love the heavy ass bertone guitar saounds it has
This is so cool. Makes me want to learn!
I have no clue what the hell he be saying he teaches so fast but I'm digging the break down of the riffs visually. His guitar is uniquely/odd put together with heavy string but very genius!!! Never saw or heard a setup Quite like that before.
yall blew the roof off of the warehouse in shreveport. Best live show ive ever seen!!!
I learned some of this listening to the the song and playing with it. Now I know how to play it all the way through. SWEET!
I've been watching this for days. Anthony does tutorials better than the other people watch as I learn how to play this song much better since.....well it's his song and he is a professional 😂😂😂
This is a great video, it's cool to the guy who wrote the song teaching people how to play it properly.
Thanks Anthony, I have always enjoyed when other musicians give insights to their song structures. Very cool- I dig it. Austin*
Crazy riff! Thank you Anthony, see you in Salem Oregon tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't even play guitar at all and yet I've watched this video so many times that I now find myself remembering what Anthony's fingers are doing and end up playing air guitar while listening to it wherever I'm at hahaha.
Damage! Damage! If you do another lesson in the future, Damage would be an awesome candidate. Opening riff is so sick!
essa banda e muito boa!!! os caras são muito bons..
You guys are SO COOL to give a tutorial. Excellent video quality too.
@blindexplore
In this video its a Mesa Boogie Rectifier and a Splawn cabinet. In the studio I believe they use Orange amps or Diezels
Please teach us 'Who We Are', I'm actually addicted to that song! RED, if you are reading this, you guys are awesome!!!!!!
@luisfelipedsm 2 1/2 below standard, 2 below= drop c plus 1/2 equals drop b which is B, F#, B, E,G#, C#, from largest string first to smallest string. (6 to 1)
I love this guitar.
I'm just watching because of your face..your beautiful, beautiful face.
@cenacleband I believe the setting is on the bridge pickup. I agree that they work well with the Mushok Baritone.
Man you guys are the best next to Linkin Park I love all your songs I can at times say you guys are a little better than Linkin Park I like that you guys with this album did not go soft like Linkin Park did when they came out with Minutes to midnight and again with a thousand suns.
Awesome, I've been wanting to play this since the first time I heard it but couldn't find tabs anywhere, tyvm for the upload :D
They are playing Baritone guitars. They are playing in a Drop A tuning. It`s like two and a half Full steps down from Standard. So it`ll be in Standard B. Then you drop the low string down to A. It`s massive. :)
this my new fav song.. EFFIN JAMN
Its crazy how many guitars he has! I saw RED in concert last summer and i was up front and i swear Anothony switched guitars about 5 or 6 times haha i guess thats how you know hes serious about his music:D

Amazing Anthony! Thanks for doing this! I don't even play guitar but it was fun to watch :D
@earp223 Mushok PRS. I recently sold a Gibson Les Paul Golddtop to one of their roadies when they were in Atlanta. that slide at 3:16 sounded so sick for some reason
@purplemon739 Oh thanks for clearing that up. I knew they were touring in Winterjam, but Feed the Machine wasn't in the set.
GO ANTHONY! GO RED!!!!
tssss exelente !!! los esperamos en Mexicoooo !! vengan !!
so..who else has no idea to play guitar but watched this anyways?? :D
Good Job bro keep on making more music you guys are really good
smooth sound
A tutorial for Never be the same would be fantastic, I can't seem to find a step by step tutorial, on TH-cam at least.
@Brett B hey man i appreciate the response! I made this comment 5 years ago which is nuts haha, but youre right and since then I've gotten sooooo much better at playing by ear. Cheers my friend

I'd say waking the devil. That's the better way to go anyway. Keep warm!
AWESOME!!!

Great stuff anthony
Red and skillet are sweet!
He should've spent more time explaining that bridge section. His fret movement is a bit confusing and it doesn't help that his guitar has no fret markers.
U Guys Rock! :D My fav band
Is it his top string the only different one, or are they all changed? And what kind did he say the string was?
Grant Commerer He changes them all, but the most noticeable change of gauge is on the top string, as it's the one that takes most of the energy when you pick so you need to make sure it's really tight. The rest of the strings wouldn't be any thinner than 12's
6:04 That wasn't a "ninth tension" He just doubled the C in your F power chord. Adding a G on top would be a ninth (just an FYI)
I'd love to see more lessons for Release the Panic!
I'm a drummer but this makes me want to learn guitar :)
sooooo beautifully sculpted
A SAME PRS I HAVE...O HELL YEAH!!!
@lackthereof1783 Yeah, it's a Baritone guitar. It's the PRS Mike Mushok Baritone from the looks of it. All Anthony did was swap out the stock pickups to the EMGs he mentioned

Its really good.
standard scale length is roughly 25 inches. That guitar's scale lenght is about 27.75
Go RED!!!
Very cool. Was wondering how that song was played. Something new to add!
Awesome guide :) Hope to see many covers :))
You are one cool guitarist.
"Then you hear this crazy loud scream that our singer Mike just basically toss out a lung".... :D
Sweet!
Awesome lesson.
Wtf I'm the 999th like :P
@Bassplayer56561 PRS Mike Mushok SE Baritone. I have one, it is beastly.
MUST HAVE BASS TUTORIAL!!!
Thanks Anthony!!!! I knew it but glad you did show us though, so its 100% official.
@seguincougar73 theoretically you can put it in standard with them if your neck is loose. I do not suggest it lol
Mestre!!!
Would y’all ever release another guitar lesson video like this for the new songs?
Thnks again
He's referring to the higher string, which is usually a 45.
Amen.
@purplemon739 What??? When did they start playing this song live??? And how come nobody has uploaded a video???
@jaktje It's an illistration of the book of Revelation.
Hi Anthony, can you have a video about your gear too. thanks!
muito Bom!achei que era bem dificil toca ela, mas naum eh tão complicado quanto imaginei
@aricman100 Not really. This has been done before - Killswitch Engage and Skillet are two that I've seen.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
i love that its in drop A.. because i can play it on my 5 string :3
@luisfelipedsm nevermind he says its drop a which is (A, E, A, D, F#, B)
