And after the storm, I run and run as the rains come And I look up, I look up, On my knees and out of luck, I look up. Night has always pushed up day You must know life to see decay But I won't rot, I won't rot Not this mind and not this heart, I won't rot. And I took you by the hand And we stood tall, And remembered our own land, What we lived for. But there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. And now I cling to what I knew I saw exactly what was true But oh no more. That's why I hold, That's why I hold with all I have. That's why I hold. I won't die alone and be left there. Well I guess I'll just go home, Oh God knows where. Because death is just so full and man so small. Well I'm scared of what's behind and what's before. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.
A couple of years ago (I think it was 2015), I heard you guys at the Aarhus Vocal Festival: I was there with the Vivid Voices Choir. All of us were listening to your concert at Saturday evening and ALL of us were truly mindblown! We could not understand, how it was possible that you guys just made every song from different genres sound so awesome. When this cover appeared in the concert, we were all lost...for real. The whole evening we were listening immediatly to this youtube version and were in heaven. This is by far my all time favourite acapella version of any song. Thank you. For this concert, for this cover, for the peak of acapella singing. Greetings from Hanover, Germany.
This gave me chills when you sang it at the TMEA All State convention in San Antonio for us students and it gives me chills now!! You are such an incredible group!
So beautiful it brought tears to my eyes! Your voice is just breathtaking and soothing! I liked this song before, but you made it great! All of you sing so well! I used to sing & I loved it, until I had pleurisy.. Now I don't feel like I sing well.. But thanks to Peter & Evynne Hollens I found you guys and you are on my playlist! I want a CD that includes this song!
Oh my gosh! WHO arranged this?! Swingles, you make me wanna throw my shoe at you -(That's a compliment.) I lost it at 1:00-1:04. That chord progression was super jazzy and threw me for a heavenly loop! Love your work! Love the video. Well done I say... well done.
I can't shake the feeling that they lost the meaning of this song in this overwrought production. This is cold and though they're talented they define the difference between artists and performers.
+Cody Hubbard in what way is this production "overwrought"? It's them stationary in a single room, singing live into microphones. And having taught this same arrangement to my group, I can assure you, nothing about this performance is "cold".
I have to add what J.D. said because he kinda beat me to the punch, however when artists choose a song to cover the idea of a cover is to make it your own and not to be the exact same as the original band in this case Mumford and Sons. They haven't lost anything by singing it the way they did because they didn't change anything by making it more full the way they did and I can say the gentleman singing lead in this has every ounce of feeling in what he is singing! Many people have no idea about how this song came about let alone know enough history about it to say a cover by an acapella group lost all meaning of the original. They happen to be recording this in the studio while making the video so there wasn't much production in it let alone being "overwrought" with it.
Its just gets even more beautiful each time you listen to it. I cannot express my feelings through words.
The magnificent Swingle Singers, with this breathtakingly good cover of After The Storm by Mumford and Sons.
This is truly special - wonderfully good.
His perfect love casts out all fear! Hold firm to Christ Jesus....no one else can save us!
This arrangement is just beautiful. Gotta love the Swingle Singers!
