    My parents will be taking a cruise down the Rhine at the end of August, and from watching your videos I could tell them that Europe is lively, which made them happy. Please take care of yourself! Traveling when sick is not fun. Rest when you need to. It's OK if you don't post as often; we'll still be here. 🙂

    Hello Island Hopper, if you can- drink hot lemon water with honey; it will help you get better. Slovakia appears to be a bit laidback compared to the Czech Republic.

    This was a hungarian city

    • @pavelbohm
      @pavelbohm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      no it wasnt Hungarian. It was part of the Kingdom of Hungary and the modern Hungary (republic) is not the same. Kingdom of Hungary was "federation" of many ethnics (tribes, nowdays nations) and was founded on the Slavic basis of Kingdom of Great Moravia (Principality of Nitra and Moravia), the Balaton Principality (Lower Pannonian Slavs) and Principality of Hungary (Magyars, former territory of Avars). Also the symbol (not whole Coat of arms) of Kingdom of Hungary was based on the double cross of Svatopluk I. ruler of Principality of Nitra (nowdays Slovakia) and the three hills that symbolized mountains Tatra, Fatra, Matra and were part of Principality of Nitra and Balaton. First two of them are now in Slovakia and the last one on the northern part of Hungary close to modern Slovak border. History is not so easy as somebody wants it to be.

      @@pavelbohm Hungary is Hungary since AD 1000. According to to the constitution of Hungary, the state had been established by king St. Stephen.
      The so-called "great moravia" existed only for 50 years after the collapse of Avar Khaganate, just as the "pannonian slavic pricipality", which was a vassal area of the Eastern Frankish Empire. The use of the Arpadian double cross comes from Constantinople, as the Hungarian king, Béla III. was the heir of the Byzantian throne for a while. There are no archeological findings of the use of "great moravian double cross" from the 9th century.

      @@pavelbohm Totally wrong.
      Written sources called Magyars "Ungarians" prior to the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin in 895-6 when they lived on the steppes of Eastern Europe, specifically: Ungri by Georgius Monachus in 837, Ungri in Annales Bertiniani of 862, and Ungari in Annales iuvavenses of 881.
