5 armor isn't 5% damage reduction, it's 5% more effective HP. If you have 100 armor you don't have 100% damage reduction. The lancer shield ability (flat dmg reduction) is applied AFTER armor, though, which makes them super strong on high veterancy (if you bought the upgrade, which you should).
GIve me the sauce, what would be optimal start for lancers? Im trying to cook the lancers out fast and with the upgrade that make them run like mad lol
@@somehowrockingfloor3395 The sauce is the armor formula, which you can find by literally just typing that into google. Damage Dealt = (Attack Damage) * 100 / (100 + Armor) So for example if you deal 200 damage against something with 100 armor: 200*100/(100+100)=20000/200=100. You're dealing half damage to something with 100 armor (meaning the target has double effective hp), not no damage. With the damage reduction upgrade and max veterancy I believe gaunts deal literally 1 damage to lancers.
Always got at least 3 lancers being produced at all time. It's like the most busted unit for vanguard. Since it got like no cost and is soo effective for what it is
note that this is not the standard experience, it has a 69% brightness, as you can start to see some of the ground details. which is the correct experience, FG should make it the default. they should also increase the contrast a bit (and then becomes the same atmosphere of SC2).
@@giuseppebonatici7169 Yeah the graphics can have more improvements, but it's also a bit disingenuous considering how many players play SC2 with appallingly ugly graphics settings because they want the performance. I don't do that though.
@@Leonhart_93 I agree. the is no evidence that graphic complains from ludites that doesn't understand the difference between style and lighting are really carrying any weight for any game's success. most problems with graphics are placeholders (aka game unit models) in cutscenes and awful default lighting in-game. but some will die on the hill that "I have too much Alzheimer's to remember that SC2/WC3 have the same general art style". do you remember the crying in 2010 for the graphics of SC2? it was ridiculous as it is now. (But, what I was saying is that moving the default slider of brightness to 69% would shut half of the art critics down, nothing hard to at all, or use that calibration style that winter is saying. they should just force a hard reset in the brightness of clients to that state, or issue an update so 69-81 is the new 100)
@@giuseppebonatici7169 Yeah honestly the problem for me if the visual clarity of things, more contrast, less brightness and more sharpness/less blurriness. Also, I would want that production structures are bigger/more distinctive. Every building being a small block is jarring.

the best way to deal with lancers is miasma. 8% life per second in a huge area is having like 10 weavers at the price of a hexen plus 200/200. the second best is stomp, thirds are hexen mines (50 + 5%)
@@Smelly13 Because if you keep adding all kinds of mini rules and exceptions it gets pretty crazy. It's like demanding that in SC2 select all army would ignore observers. Wouldn't that be very specific...
@@Leonhart_93 fair point. Not that I’m a huge F2 fan at all; I honestly try to use ctr groups only. However; I don’t think the F2 needs to be customizable into oblivion. But I do see a point of having versions of it to select more specificly than all army
@@Smelly13 It is actually "customizable", in a sense. You use select all, the "ctrl+click" an unit in the selection and it will select all units of a certain type on the map. If you do "ctrl+shift+click" it will remove all units of that type. But considering how bloody fast everything dies in SC2, you may not have that kind of time to do anything.

It should also be noted that the Lancer version of the tower has higher armor, 20 instead of 10 (unless the melee version is different).

Maybe there should be alternative ‘select army hotkey’ for setting your preferred setting; like select all (selected) units
It's a slower paced game, it feels like there are no more excuses to taking the time to hotkey everything properly.
@@Leonhart_93 just a QoL feature. AOE4 does it and you can choose to select all units outside of ctr groups. So why not just expand on it 🤷

i'd say magmadons and hellbornes are a good counter but we still dont have tier 3 for infernals, they're the most unfinished race currently
