      not to be a dick but asking people to support you on patreon for a youtube channel of uploading music that isn't even yours could be construed as a pretty big legal offense that could land you in serious trouble....you're asking for money to redistribute intellectual property that isn't yours to begin with.

      ***** In this case, you're definitely right. In general, the Genesis soundchip gives a much fuller sound, most cases where the SNES is superior is when developers can't use the Genesis soundchip well, except for games with softer, more orchestral instruments, like say Super Castlevania IV.

    If there is one game where you can tell the difference between the sound quality of Model 1 and Model 2 Sega Genesis it's this game. I have a Model 2 Genesis (sold my Model 1 when i was a kid) and it doesn't sound nearly this good even through High-def surround sound stereo speakers. It's not even close. Superb sound!

    I would argue that this and the SNES version of New Challengers are the top contenders for my favorite home port remixes of the original SFII soundtrack. This gives it that Capcom arcade style crunch, while New Challengers on SNES is a perfect display of what Capcom’s best work for that system sounded like.

      Well, the it's the US version of SSF2 on the SNES that sounds good. The Japanese version uses that awful whiny synth brass from MMX1. The US version replaces it with the far more epic sample from MMX2/3.

    • @alexbidhendy6677
      @alexbidhendy6677 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Richard Thompson I must be deaf then, because the Sega version sounds far closer to the arcade (by a country mile) than the awful sounding toy music the SNES had. The music is literally the same on the arcade and Genesis.

    • @brasovraskon4697
      @brasovraskon4697 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      alex bidhendy I guess I didn't word that correctly. Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition on Genesis had the superior music no doubt. Sounds exactly like the arcade and sounds badass. Super Street Fighter II for Genesis, however, sound atrocious... the SNES version sounded better. Out of all four versions, SFIISCE on Genesis takes the cake.

    • @sdlock83
      @sdlock83 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +alex bidhendy I think it's because they were more liberal with remixing the SNES soundtrack, whereas for the Genesis version attempts were made to try to stay true to the arcade soundtrack. Most noticeable soundtrack with heavy remixing include: Opening, Dhalsim and Sagat's theme.

    • @sdlock83
      @sdlock83 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Brasov Raskon I think the reason was that SSF2 for the Genesis used most of its resources for the graphics that the music quality had to be sacrificed. SFA2 for the SNES would suffer the same treatment 3 years later. But you have to admit that the Genesis version was commendable for retaining the continuous playing of the stage BGM between Rounds 1 and 2 like the arcade version whereas the SNES version re-loops the music between rounds.

    This version could have been almost arcade accurate if Capcom hadn't butchered the pitch on it.
    For example: I recorded Guile's song on Audacity then played it back (as a MP3) on VLC player change the pitch to -2.0 and compared it to the arcade....it was damn close. Same for Ken's with a -0.8 pitch almost perfect.

    But why does the music here sound a bit fuzzier than some of your other model 1 uploads?

    • @DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL
      @DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not all Genesis games are the same "volume" on output, some games are louder than others. I gain-normalize all my uploads to -0.3dB, so that the recording uses the full scale without clipping (and you don't have to turn your speakers up as much). When a game's quieter, especially on the model 1, it's more noisy--the external noise generated by the actual console, as well as the lower-level quantization noise of the ym2612, becomes more audible because it is amplified by a bigger factor than a louder game is. Since the game's audio is closer to the noise floor, it sounds more "fuzzy." Unfortunately there isn't really much I can do about this, but you would run into the same problem playing the game on a television--you'd have to turn up the volume more to get the same volume. The "best" way to do games like this would actually be a MegaAmp'ed discrete YM3438.

    • @zanegandini5350
      @zanegandini5350 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I assumed every game was the same unless you adjusted the external volume.
