- The CANT Z.1007 Alcione (Kingfisher) was an Italian three-engined medium bomber, with wooden structure.
Designed by Filippo Zappata, who also designed the CANT Z.506 it had "excellent flying characteristics and good stability" and was regarded by some as "the best Italian bomber of World War II" although its wooden structure was easily damaged by the climate, as experienced in North Africa and in Russia.
It was used by the Italian Regia Aeronautica, Italian Co-Belligerent Air Force, Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana and Luftwaffe during World War II.

Exquisite , both film and aircraft . Like a lot of fans I just love the camouflage . Italy could knock it out of the park with it's aircraft of that period . Would love to have seen and heard any of them for real , in peaceful circumstance of course .

Sicuramente il miglior bombardiere medio "puro" della Regia, lo Sparviero era stato riconvertito da aereo civile per tale compito, ma non ha mai performato benissimo soprattutto per la poca precisione nel centrare bersagli che aveva l'apparato di sgancio bombe, in compenso trovò la sua vocazione come aerosilurante.
Come aerosilurante riuscì a colpire [ affondando o danneggiando seriamente] ben 14 navi militari [ commerciali non contate ] della Royal Navy , nel triennio pre armistizio. In quel ruolo riuscì appieno .
Uno dei nostri migliori bombardieri , peccato che divenne presto obsoleto durante la guerra

Migliore bombardiere italiano,ma ho sempre trovato curioso il fatto che ne abbiano sempre usati in numero limitato. Intendo nei Raid che eseguirono. Forse perché non avevano un numero cospicuo per fare molti danni o forse i vertici pensavano che mandandone 15-Max era già abbastanza…

La manutenzione sul CANT era terribile proprio a causa della struttura lignea... ma di bombardieri con una linea più bella di questo ce ne sono davvero pochi

Un Bombardeo demasiado lento quedando evidenciando en El Bombardeo a La Isla de Malta donde muchas unidades fueron destruidas por antiguos y obsoletos cazas Británicos
El Z.1007 por el contrario fue un muy buen bombardero en 1940. Su velocidad máxima era de 460 km/h, tan rápido como un Junkers 88 y mucho más rápido que el Heinkel 111. La versión ter alcanzaba ....500 km/h H. Un excelente bombardero, blindado, bien armado y rápido. De ninguna manera fue presa fácil para los biplanos, pero sí para Hurricanes y Spitfires, así como para bombarderos alemanes.

Esteticamente uno degli aerei più sgraziati sella 2gm, probabilmente il più sgraziato della RA. 🙂
