This is first time watching part 16, all I can say is wow excellent job it makes the viewer feel like he's right in the middle of the snowman can't wait for part 18 well done LM5 !
I'm loving this series LM5. I feel 8 years old all over again and glued to my screen watching every moment of those brave and wonderful astronauts of Apollo 12. This crew was so enjoyable to listen to and very human. You have made my millennia. :D
Notice the 'Pete Conrad laugh'? Playboy bunny pictures had been inserted in the checklist books! Great to hear that on the recording... I just realized what it was about when I was reading the Wiki on the mission. The backup crew put them in there, being Air Force guys... the prime crew was Navy.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your work and I appreciate the time and effort that goes into making these mission segments. I haven't posted to your channel in awhile, but I am way overdue in thanking you for what you do. Thank you, my friend!
Hello Lunarmodul, I could say that for each of your videos : Considerable thanks for your work. I DO appreciate it and its value is important to my eyes (and my ears). My mothertongue is French, and as the technical talks can be difficult for me to understand, I improve my English ! Used to listen to it every night when I go to bed.. Better than drugs to send you in an other dimension ! ;-D . Was 8 years old when Apollo 11 went on the moon, and was already fascinated by the Apollo program, which I followed live on the Swiss TV. Great memories.. Thanks to make me live that again. Still magical after all these years (even better..). Cheers from Switzerland.
thanks triple and good to hear from you. its nice to get the feedback from everyone...keeps me knowing there are people out there who appreciate my work :-)
My hats off to you LM5, this was absolutely spectacular! I was in training in Coronado, CA prior to deployment to Vietnam, so I never got to see this. I remember that they brought a TV into our barracks for Apollo 11 (I was in boot camp at the time), so we got to see a little of the first landing, but nothing on this one. I went to a local Space Museum here in Oregon, and I think I knew more about the missions than the tour guide :) Thanks for all you hard work putting these all together!
Scott Harrod Yes fella i love it when the crews personality comes through great stuff. The child in me cant help but run another page with engine white noise for that extra SciFi sound, got to go mum wants me to clean my room.
Thanks as usual LM5; hope all is well chez vous. I must say that I never knew that any lunar surface crew had seen the orbiting CSM above, as is heard at 15:35.
Love the flight plan pages. Awesome stuff. It's too bad that Pete and Al's. " gotcha " with the camera timer didn't work out. That would have made for a historic picture
@@benschofield1361 They took a timer for the Hassleblad camera with them and planned on using it to photograph the both of them standing in front of the Surveyor. It would have been the only Hassleblad photo showing both astronauts. But Bean couldn't find it in the bottom of his bag in the harsh lunar lighting, and they ran out of time. Later on he found it, but the opportunity was gone, so he sent it flying in 1/6th gravity in frustration.
39:50- asking the astronaut how his cold is feeling and several voices behind the MC guy are like "Don't say COLD!" So he changes his question. Priceless. Were they doing marketing for later use and not allowed to say that Actifed cures a cold, but can say it cures a stuffy head?
The crew responses are coming back too soon for the expected minimum response time of 2.5 sec to allow for the round trip time of radio waves from earth to moon. Has the audio been cut?
hi Paul...in all these series...with the exception of live tv broadcasts which are left in real time...the gaps in the audio is edited out. if I didnt do that the series would last for the entire mission elapsed time. This way you get the whole misdion in about 45 hrs per flight. lm5
Now just what wsa this doc ument that you showed/displayed anyway? I couldn't "make head nor tails" of it! Does it have anything to do with their ever-changing Flight Plan or what? Why does Pete ask how long his long his shadow is?
In the previous mission the lander could not be visually located by the CMP from orbit at all. It was never seen. The folks on the ground need the best possible estimate of their actual location at all times in case of an abort back to lunar orbit for whatever reason. There was never any guarantee that they would be visually located from the CM.
These boys are all gone now. The only crew that were real friends (unlike Apollo 11 for instance) . NASA certainly chose the most boring , laconic person to be first on the moon.
Armstrong was the perfect choice to be the first....of course, there was no guarantee he would be the first until Apollo 10 successfully completed their mission.

I love the background yelling when CAPCOM uses that deadly "cold" word. :) "Don't say cold!"
60 nautical miles is a long ways. Chances are, Gordon couldn't see them.

hi Keno good to hear from u again. ..glad u r liking this one...whst a journey we have been on since apollo 13!
Love the flight plan pages. Awesome stuff. It's too bad that Pete and Al's. " gotcha " with the camera timer didn't work out. That would have made for a historic picture
I figured it was a good way to show what was happening..despite the fact they missed a step lol
To what picture are you referring? That sounds interesting

Yes yes yes!!!
Brilliant stuff once again!
Thanks ferrari!

My guess is that it is related to Apollo 7, where Wally Schira had a bad head cold and was very cranky with mission control.
39:50 "Don't say Cold!"
Great series! What're you using for the animations?
Orbiter Space Simulator

So why did they discuss where they were for all of that time when all they needed was Dick Gordon flying by? I don't get it

wohoo 1st comment. keep up the good work sir
will do!

Armstrong ws chosen for his pure skill.and utmost profssiinalism.
Test.pilots are flyers and engineers - only.a few are entertainers.
