    Man you really blew up. 130k subs is awesome. I got my BS since I watched your videos 2-3 years ago and about to finish my MS and I even got an awesome SOC job. So glad I went the WGU route. I'm planning in going for the MBA in IT to have business side knowledge and a MBA for upper level jobs in the near future. Not sure if you reviewed that but if you haven't that'd be awesome.

Have you by chance thought about setting up a course for software engineering/coding? I know there are plenty of resources out there, but i believe one taught by you would catch on quite quickly.

    Josh, what is your opinion on WGU being ABET accredited now for comp sci. Big deal? Who cares? I'm curious.

    • @katydid5088
      @katydid5088 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I will chime in as someone who had family go through WGU, ABET is a group standard that shows most recruiters the program met industry standards. They have no idea what an engineering degree entails but they are the non-essential employees with a certain scope of knowledge for basic social competency that takes over the paperworkavalanche that engineers and other specialists don'tor may not have time to fix. Your second or third pass interviews will either be from managers or team members who know (or hopefully know) what they're doing, and they will actually test what skills and knowledge you have. ABET certification means they will look at what you've been taught and work through a skills interview that proves you knew enough to communicate with the team. While it's not essential to have an ABET program for some jobs, all government agencies and other base organizations see you MUST have the paper ceiling stamp of approval to pass GO. It sucks and while trusting noncertified people with a large enough CV is possible, it's not probable. If you have to choose between ABET or nothing, choose ABET because it means most credentials have a common understanding between other associates.

    hey Josh I wanted to ask how difficult is it to get a job after WGU?

    • @stea9960
      @stea9960 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      The degree will be like any other - your ability to get a job will be based on the culmination of other factors, such as your resume, interview skills, portfolio / projects, etc. A degree by itself is unlikely to land you a job in most fields.

    • @JoshMadakor
      @JoshMadakor  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @stea9960 gave a perfect answer down below. To kind of get an idea of some of the things you can do/what to care about, definitely watch this video, it will help a lot: th-cam.com/video/7PPsufbJHhU/w-d-xo.html
      I'm talking about Cyber in the video, but just pretend I'm talking about any other field and it's likely still applicable. Serious, I think it will help :)
      There's also this shorter video that kind of talks about the same thing, but it's likely not as refined:

Then last year they reached out and tried to make a partnership with me that paid $1 per conversion, lmao. This essentially means I would pay THEM to go through the trouble of setting up links and making content... They are selling a digital product with very minimal overhead and they are cutting ethical corners (no proctoring) to try to save money. On top of this, trying to get me to lose money to bring them business. Talking about this with their rep was the dumbest conversation I ever had in my life, so I tend to not mention them much.
