    Next time I'm out walking the dog on the downs behind Saltdean and I see a DA42, I'll assume it's you and give a wave. Great video !

    Love these views of the UK and the insight into how ATC works there. As you may know, we recently had a fatal midair crash in the US between a Cessna 208 and a paramotor at about 5,000 feet. Paramotors not required to have ADS-B or transponders so not visible to ATC. As you were flying around in this video, did you have any concern about running into a paraglider?
    Also if you are still planning the round-the-world trip, have you seen Wolf Reichenberger's channel? He flew a DA42 around the world. Best Regards, Ibrahim.

    • @richardtyrer
      @richardtyrer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ibrahim! Thanks 😁 Yes it can be of concern, and I have seen a few of them a few thousand feet up, even above the clouds on an overcast day..... You just need to be wary of the hot spots, and remember to keep a good look out regardless of the ATC service you are receiving.
      I still am! Departure will be April this year. I have been in touch with Wolf and he as given some great advice!

    • @igclapp
      @igclapp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardtyrer Great, Richard! You may have noticed Wolf had a handheld marine VHF transceiver with him and was periodically in contact with ships on marine channel 16 in case he needed their help in the unlikely event of a ditching.

    love the videos, have always been searching for someone to make quality flying videos around UK. Nearly finished my PPL at Redhill, might give it a go as well. It may be busy now but a Heathrow transit is mad! give them a call to find out, would make a great video!!

    • @richardtyrer
      @richardtyrer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My friend works in the tower at Redhill so will ask him to keep a look out for you! Heathrow transit can be busy but for the transit they use a different frequency to the big jet traffic, so as the airport picks up it still shouldn't be an issue! Safe flying! 😁

    Great video
    Use to fly out of Popham, Old Sarum and Thruxton before I held any instrument ratings, many years ago. With only steam cockpits, I would avoid airspaces like this.
    Scooting around to visit Shoreham, Bembridge and the occasional trip to Cherbourg. Lot different now with Glass cockpits, iPads, Foreflight, etc.

    • @richardtyrer
      @richardtyrer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yes your right, iPad's and Glass Cockpits have made life much easier to achieve trips through busier airspace! But it's still doable without, and quite fun to try!

      It's just from experience from what I have done before! There are no VRP's on the chart but ATC will know instantly what you want (and more importantly it gives them confidence in you if it's busy).
