    You have it on "wall" setting, which I believe is for sheetrock / drywall. I set it on "Softwood" in my RV. MDF trim I sometimes set for Hardwood. I have mostly plywood (with aluminum framing, which sets off high reading over aluminum). I would think Softwood would be the correct setting for particle board, as well. This is the best tool I ever bought!

    Great idea for checking moisture behind RV walls. That said, I think you were actually onto something early in the video... someone should make a moisture meter that has a sensor built into the top face of the meter vs only offering meters with the sensor stuck in the rear center of the unit. A meter with a sensor built into the top face would allow for getting up nice and close to seems and molding edges... which of course is where most water intrusion begins.

    Thanks for this review. I'm renovating a old property and need to check for damp in walls. These retail at £80 (about $100) here in the UK. I'll report my findings and results once I have them.

    Thank you for the vid on the moisture meter, I just ordered this one on Amazon for $46. I will be looking for a used RV soon and this will give me a heads up on leaks. Great Idea !! I live in Wa. State and we have a lot of rain and rot and rust.Scotty

      Agreed, we just bought a similar model (Klein ET140) and found one area of concern! Still, best to catch a problem area before the damage gets worse...

    Will show readingsn ear doorways because of metal. It only works where there is no metal frame, ect.

      I am sure the manual says something like that.

    You don't wet your fingers it does not measure surface moisture. It measures below the surface.

    This is not how you inspect for moisture with any conclusive, reliable results. Settings matter, knowing which class of materials your testing matter, knowing the depth of reading matters, knowing the difference of measuring by capacitance vs conductance matters, Temperature & RH matters. Is it a drain pipe behind the wall, lol or maybe its wall board staple? Seriously? Don't give yourself a heartattach using a moisture meter in the way shown.
    Bottom line, you need both Pin and Pinless meter, solid understanding of the construction, its materials and experience.

      I have a similar model (Klein ET140) and see it has four modes: Drywall, Hardwood, Softwood and Ceramic (tile). It seems changing to different modes causes the sensitivity to change as well as the alarm threshold points. I suspect the one in this video and mine have the same internal circuitry since the rectangular black sensor on the back is identical to mine - see our video on moisture meter for more...

      It will work with wood. But realize that any wood will likely show some moisture.

    This moisture meter finds metals as water...

    • @Snowman9K
      @Snowman9K 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found the same thing. When the RV has metal framing, it alarms every time you go past a wall or roof frame piece.
