I certainly agree! These were the very best planes and I certainly miss them! I used to take the TWA L1011s back and forth to Las Vegas during the 1980s which were my golden years! It's strange how we become affectionate to these great machines just like our family members!

Everyone I know that was on the Flight Deck of the L-1011 loved them. I only had two flights on the L-1011. Both were on TWA from Seattle to St. Louis and reversa visa. I remember the massive smoke on engine start. It's a shame that more were not built. A better airplane than either the DC-10 or MD-11.

Ich bin einmal mit einer TriStar nach Teneriffa geflogen. Das war der allerbeste Flug den ich jemals gemacht habe. Das ist der beste und schönste Passagierjet, der jemals die Lüfte durchquert hat..! 👍🛬

LTN-92 INS integrated with the L-1011 FMS looks like. What a great aircraft, shame its gone now.

the runway remaining tech is something we didn't get in full glass cockpit airplanes till recently... impressive..

Nah, that's a new system retrofitted in it. Honeywell RAAS. Been used since 2008. Used quiet a lot in 737 NG and MAX. Lion Air have been used it since then on their 737 fleet. So is Alaska and Ryanair, and i believe there is a lot more operator that has it.

Im surprised at how loud and droning these planes are from inside, personally. Sounds like someone using a planing machine outside your house constantly for 4-6 hours, plus wind noise.

@3:43 - Anyone know what that sound is?

    • @ralphbernard3908

One of the sounds was main gear extension.

@@ralphbernard3908 🤔 Interesting. I used to work on the L-1011’s and I always wondered what that sound was. When I was at one of the two doors, I could hear it when we were on approach.

Altitude alert aka the C-chord. Reminds you that 1) you're approaching the selected altitude, 2) you're leaving the selected altitude.

@5:18 Is the annunciator (runway length) an after construction addition?
