  • Fender Custom Shop designers met Donal Gallagher, brother of late great guitarist Rory Gallagher, in Los Angeles in 1997 and received one of the most coveted guitars of all time--Gallagher’s heavily worn 1961 Stratocaster guitar. Fender initially built 40 replicas for European sale, but was subsequently besieged with requests for more. The Rory Gallagher Tribute Stratocaster guitar is an exact replica of that revered instrument, down to the extremely worn Three-color Sunburst alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. It even has five Sperzel tuners and one Gotoh tuner, and the 12th-fret dot marker is white plastic rather than the original clay. It also features three custom-wound '60s single-coil pickups, aged chrome hardware, 21 medium jumbo frets and a synthetic bone nut. It's Fender's homage to a true and truly missed master.

Awesome- I'm a huge Rory fan. I saw his guitar on display in Ireland and visited his grave. Such a killer player, writer, and performer.

Rory was a guitar hero of mine since I first heard him in the 70's. I was fortunate to watch him play many times in the UK. So when Fender released this tribute guitar I had to have one. I've played many strats but when this arrived from Sweetwater I was amazed. I have never played a strat that is so incredibly smooth and so easy to play. I was also living in Houston at the time (2012) and had it set up by Billy Gibbons guitar tech. It is beautiful. Just wish I could play like Rory, but I can dream..
Thank you for playing some Rory riffs on it !!!!!

I played this guitar in a shop a few years ago. A super vivid and addictive strat. It rings like crazy. Pickups are quite hot and with a focus on the mids. It's honkier than your average strat and has a fuller sound than most CS-strats. Great guitar. I just could not afford it. ;-(

There's not a lot of top musicians that try to cover Rory's songs. Tells its own story.

Loved your Cradle Rock snippets! Rory was a fantastic guitarist. Full of energy and unique tones.

It sounds amazing but it looks nothing like the original, the paint relicing is dead on but the wood isn't worn away at all

If I picked up a Squier Bullet Strat in a music shop that sounded like this, I'd immediately put it back in the rack...

I must agree tgat for a 4k plus guitar the sound is pathetic.
My classic vibe 50s strat already overperforms MIM strats (IMHO) and this rory strat is 10 times the price and it doesent even compare to my Squier.

What amp and pedal? Sounds great

Sounds great, especially in Greg’s hands. Now hunt down Rory’s favourite - a Hawk II Tonal Expander to add to the rig. (That will only set you back about another nine hundred bucks, if you can track one down.)

Or just a rangemaster style treble booster..

Maybe I’m in the minority here but this strat just sounds more woody and dead and doesnt pop out like most other Strats in Greg’s hands. It’s certainly NOT the player! Greg is a force of nature!

Yep. The amp basicly sucks at low volumes. Need to turn that thing up to get the poweramp sound. Same with the rocker 33 from orange. Same fizzy sound in low volume but at higher it is really awesome.
