  • Introducing the Mike McCready Stratocaster, created in partnership with Pearl Jam's founding member Mike McCready. Inspired by his cherished 1960 Stratocaster, it features custom pickups voiced to emulate McCready's signature tone, a six-point tremolo, alder body with a Road Worn finish and more. Watch as Mike McCready walks us through it and takes it for a test drive.

Mike makes the absolute most out of the pentatonic scale. He playing is not complicated but he does it so well with the perfect guitar, effects, vibe and feel that it has always sounded incredible and fit Pearl Jam absolutely perfectly. I was always drawn to and inspired by his playing since I first bought a guitar in 1998.

It’s a nice guitar but ….where’s the finesse, sorry I just don’t get it any guitar can be played like a hummingbird jacking it in San Diego whikka chikka @ 1100 RPM, good point though about needing a conduit to Hendrix through SRV, back in the late 70’s early 80’s if a player liked Hendrix he was classified a weirdo. I didn’t realize my mistake about Hendrix until I was in my 30’s then kicked myself for missing out , I was same way I’m 60 this year and I bet we are the same age all his references are mine. I’ll go look at it. I have a 1960 MIJ and he’s right it’s the nicest neck you’ll ever play totally different than any other fender neck, really slim “c” and we all love SLIM C’s don’t we 😛. God dammit I think he just sold me another custom shop Stratocaster guitar. Now how do I get this past my wife …she’s turned into a guitar detective, she just sniffs the air and knows I’ve either bought a Strat or an expensive effects pedal.
Thanks for the honest appraisal of this guitar bud ! Great demo and walk down memory lane.

SRV was deceptive about his #1 Strat; it was a '63 body with a '62 or '64 neck. Supposedly he put a set of pups from a '59 in it later. A hella lot of guys thought a '59 Strat was the thing to have because of SRV lying about having a '59.

Yes 👍 that's true! and now come to find out that the 60-64 strats a ton of players like every more than the 59's ...I have a 61 replica and it's pretty amazing ! vintage brand makes really nice guitars for the price I bought the Thomas blug signature model amd they're under a grand with all Wilkinson parts

I'm not much of a Pearl Jam fan, but he's one of the best guitarists of his generation. Check out this RAW POWER video of him, Duff McKagan, Mark Arm, and Barrett Martin rip some Stooges cover on a rooftop th-cam.com/video/GKWhiPZVcLE/w-d-xo.html

Yep. Fender nice move. Make a signature guitar for the guy who destroying those guitars on stage. Those guitars could be in the hands of talanted kids, who would make much better music, than this human being.
