In this video I am giving you an update on the repairs and the overall estimate.
The 2023 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat trim is such an awesome truck. You can even take a road trip with confidence. If you leave it in sport mode, the regenerative braking will help extend the range whether you are driving in town or on a highway.
that got to suck stopping and filling up its so nice to plug in at night
Agreed!
Gotta love rolling computers.
“Rolling computers”. That’s awesome. I might do a video about that when I get it back talking about how basically they are computers on wheels and instead of wondering why the screen goes black or the charger goes red or the truck not giving you full power. Sometimes like a computer it just needs a restart. And if two or three restarts don’t work sometimes it needs a hard reset with unplugging the 12v for a few minutes.
@@F150LightningMike there have been several times when randomly one of my power trains stops working. Terrified me at first. Then I noticed it generally only happened shortly after an OTA software update. Turn the car off for a bit and it’s right as rain again. Weird.
Yep it has happened to several people. That’s interesting to hear that it is after an update for you.
@@eyesandearsofKA Wow, that's scary! The worst I've had after an update is all my radio presets are gone. All other preferences remain, it's always the presets!
I call it my mobile power station. Helped my parents last summer after a crazy microburst took out trees and power poles on their street. Powered a window AC, lights, phone chargers all night silently and no fumes.
Wow! The same thing happened to me. Nearly $10k to repair mine too. My deer actually ran into me. Since tgen ive installed electronic deer deterrents which seem to work well. I've cone across several deer that are just standing on the side of the road not miving just staring.
Good to know that those deterrents actually work. I’ve never used them before.
What insurance do you have? I live in Colorado too and I have a 2023 Ford F-15 Lightning xlt.
I use USAA.
Why buy Fords and other big 3 product as yes ten grand is a lot but the vehicle still runs and works for such a seemingly minor matter for so big versus so small as opposed to what happens if you have this happen to your Toyota which those don't even work right new anymore which actually hard to do that to Toyota. The front faishia for these Ford electric trucks need work to make far more better put together as still looks like cheap junk plastic but they're moving in the right direction is the rumor but no one close to Tesla Cybertruck still nor will they ever be for creating a literal Tank. That still needs work as well was *NEVER* right off the line and all keep saying don't ever buy until massive price reduction but yes even tho that front windshield is "right there" near like a cabover considered the ultimate in robust body builds...of course no parts to fix that as is true here. Gr8 video good lesson to those actually owning and operating absolutely 💯 😊
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. You make some good points. Build quality is different these days, but I would say for how fast I was going when I hit the deer there is not the damage I was expecting. Plus I felt very safe.
lol...this is a joke comment right? Tesla Cybertruck is a unibody design with aluminium support frame. (meaning the body is its structure).. The lightning is body on fully boxed steel frame. If the cybertruck would have hit this dear, the truck would have been a write-off because the body which is also the frame would be compromised. You can not straighten an aluminium frame. With the ford you can actually just replace the body panels and fascia that were damaged. If the ford "STEEL" frame was bent (which I don't believe it was in this case) it can also be straightened. You must also not be caught up on the latest cybertruck news where the aluminum frames shear off when pulling trailers and hitting potholes. You call it a tank and I call that they should have their towing reclassified to NO TOWING ALLOWED before someone gets killed.
You are correct there was only a very slight bend on the small piece of the frame that protects what looks to be something to do with the radiator in the front. They bent it back and it’s good. So basically there is NO frame damage. You can see what I’m talking about on the part 4 version of this video.
And I do want to emphasize again that this experience made me only more resolute that the Ford Lightning is one of the best vehicles to own. I will probably always own one because my wife and I were both in the truck at the time and felt very safe. This is a very strong safe truck.
You should’ve got a Prius
I think the Prius would have done a lot worse if it hit a deer. :-)
You’re probably talking about the rental though. Yeah that would have been better, I didn’t think to ask about it.
