I've noticed in black that rush lucci helps a ton because of I airdoor a 6 or 7k on 4 don 6 don 5k and 2 7k swings really puts pressure on yellow. I also ignore board bc they don't invest don into board attacks so they are easier to counter out of than the leader swing Still very rough because board removal from anything but kaku doesn't really pressure them much.
Yeah if you go chasing their board most of the time you just end up taking too long to kill them, and rush in general seems like a great way to deal with yellow!
Magellan is actually a solid purple answer to yellow. Kill their don curve so they can’t summon Big mom and Katakuri and us Minozebra to banish life triggers they set up
@@emperorpenguinpirates-onepiece yea def didn’t take it seriously and I’m not even a purple player lol. But yea by the time they finally can play Kat or big mom you have an army of Magellans and Jailer beasts to take em out
The taking life early in black is a must. I found that out myself and it’s really the only possible option. I play the navy build, so I try to hold off wasting little Kuzan and big Garp early so that I can kill the 7, 8 and 10 drops when they come down. It feels like a slow burn sometimes, but it’s effective. Honestly, just making sure I have board presence with good blockers. Honestly never going to counter out with any blockers now I don’t think hahah unless I’m saving a character
Yeah it really feels like if you counter out of your life you’re losing out on resources by taking the damage and will lose your board because you can’t protect your characters. The navy matchup is especially tough.
No I know that was just a joke LMAOO Magellans annoying on KO effects actually makes it really hard for Yellow to comfortably drop their bombs. Magellan throwing Katakuri off curve is absolutely devastating.
Such an informative video as always! Trying to sus out Cracker and when does he lose his effect. Effect is called, pumping to 7k and double attack. Does his effect last till the start of your next turn or when life is equal/more than your opponent?
It’s a continuous effect so it’s only when that specific condition is in place. In this case it’s when you have less life, if you have equal or more his effect no longer applies.
i am sad that this game is going to be the same as others, and they will just release new, broken stuff, and not restrict it because they do not want to lose sales. If you're going to restrict WB, then you need to also restrict 10c BM because having someone at 1 life and dropping 3 in a row is quite possibly the worst feeling in this game. I'd rather get beat down trying to swing over 8k into a buffed leader than be beating someone and have them gain life and turn the game just because they drop a 10c.
I play in asia as an anti-meta player. Katakuri was the deck to beat back in OP03, Even currently in OP04 i rather fight whitebeard than katakuri. The restriction in the western format felt weird for us.. Weakening red decks which allows yellow to play greedier than usual.
i 100% agree with the limit on big mom, as soon as i saw it for the first time i was like "if wb is limited then this FOR SURE as to be limit too" yet nothing is happening, one copy is already an almost game changer and the second copy UP TILL NOW is a game ender to be honest, havent been in a situation when a second big mom drop just kills my game no matter what leader or color im playing
Katakuri swings for better numbers easier, and can curve out better since you only need one don for a 7K swing. But honestly Big Mom is also a great option and it’s not like one is marginally better than the other.
People are starting to catch on but the purple slide was a joke LMAO For purple you really just follow the generic strats and use 5c Magellan to throw your opponent off curve. Yellow players will not deal with Magellan until they’re at 10 Don so the value you get is absolutely insane. The Jailer beasts are also super annoying because MineRhino has an amazing on KO effect making it a pain to swing into your board.
I don’t know what you mean by “burn the life”. Do you mean allow them to take your life early to save blankets for late game? Or do you mean use those blockers to attack and take the opponents life quickly?
Against 7 cost mom you have the option to give your opponent a life or trash/burn your own life. “Burn” refers to losing a life but having the card be trashed.
Not gonna lie, when I as a Doffy player do 7 big brain plays and then have to just concede the second big mom hits the board it's very demoralizing. I keep getting 3 10 drop big mom every single local I go to and blue has zero ways of dealing with that effectively. Plus the power of checking your triggers in yellow (like looping blocker trigger witht the 8 drop katakuri) is insane
I hear you man. The worst thing about yellow is that it requires no skill to play. If they had cracked cards in life you had no chance. Somehow I get punished in the game for winning? Cheap cost bodies that get summoned and have no summon sickness. Yellow is even more skilless and less generic in OP04 and its even worse in OP05 yellow doesnt allow deckbuilding cause all the good cards have trigger. OP card game is becoming boring very fast.
Because you get a set amount of Don (the resource of the game) “playing on curve” just means you play a card on the soonest possible turn you can play it. For example, if you go second on turn 4 you should have 8 Don so playing 8c Katakuri is your on curve play.
I’m actually having a pretty good time with king vs Kat and no that’s not a troll. I’ve made it my goal to be the best king player lol

@Wirinom Yeah, but there's a 5 7k vanilla that's cp9

Yeah for sure it was just me joking LMAO The annoying ON ko effects also are really annoying to deal with for yellow

I’ve been working on this matchup . Appreciate the tips

Agree on most points, but you are not right about purple. Magellan has a decent matchup into yellow

What makes katakuri so good? Everything. Literally everything. And yk just life gain.

Can u give a brief explanation on why to run katakuri over yellow big mom? Im a new player trying the yellow color
Katakuri swings for better numbers easier, and can curve out better since you only need one don for a 7K swing. But honestly Big Mom is also a great option and it’s not like one is marginally better than the other.

Still waiting on a how to black vs yellow vid. Lucci is cracked. It can beat law and wb. But it gets TRASHED by kat.
But how do we beat whitebeard 😭
Pray they brick 🫡
I’m new to TCG what does “play on curve “ mean ??😅
Because you get a set amount of Don (the resource of the game) “playing on curve” just means you play a card on the soonest possible turn you can play it. For example, if you go second on turn 4 you should have 8 Don so playing 8c Katakuri is your on curve play.
The true problem with katakuri is the 10 cost mom, must be restricted to 1, that card wins alone a lot, is brainless.
