      Not a great demo really, there’s nothing covering how you could use it on a gig, for example how do you put the beats in the order of your set list?

    I watched several demos and not one shows how to make a set list, which is kinda if important if you’re using it on a gig!

    Sounds great, but useless to me until it can play a song all the way through. I’ve got enough going on with lead vocal, guitar and helix on the floor to be learning all the transitions in the premium song library. Some of these songs have 20 plus transitions and fills to learn. Maybe it’s great if your a looper but not in a covers band. IMO the ability to play a song from start to finish should have been the starting point feature wise for this unit !

    • @larryschueneman4418

      Use it with a looper and you can have just that. Compose it ahead of time and play it when you want.

    Hahaha. Yes yes I do! AND Being a drummer first it's been rough! Another reason I brought the keyboard out here. But honestly. I fear if I buy a drum kit or ekit..It would cloud the channel and maybe have to have 2...I get too involved in things. Hehe heh. Anyway. Great review and I'll keep this in mind!!

    Hi Steve - Correct me if I'm wrong, but I keep reading that you have to pay 250GBP to be able to access the full library of patterns? And that the manufacturer has deliberately pre-installed only a limited amount of accompaniments so as to force you into an after-sales corner!

    • @janjohnmusic4505
      @janjohnmusic4505 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been using BeatBuddy since it first came out, he’s the third member of our duo. Sounds incredible going through our stereo PA. It comes with approximately 200 songs in many styles. Plus around 10 different drum set sounds. So there is much to choose from, if you never buy another thing. The total collection is everything that came out after the initial release, those can be bought separately by artist grouping or one specific song at a time for around $1.00 each. So there is no forced after-sales corner, like free apps that have an after purchase necessity if you want to use it fully. The high priced everything collection I never found a need for. Also you can make your own custom beats in a DAW like Logic Pro, or import a midi drum track from a free midi or cheap file. I haven’t seen a competing unit like BeatBuddy anywhere. Price wise it’s not a bad deal, considering how much you can spend on a guitar effect pedal.

    Can you add your own drums? like midi or wave drum loops?

  • @aset317
    @aset317 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It seems like a great option for loop based jamming. But I fear it's not a great option for songs with complex arrangements (I would want more than 2 drum patterns for each song) and for guitarists that use effects pedals a lot (think of someone like Graham Coxon who 'plays using his feet' as much as his hands) it would be a nightmare tap-dancing between everything for the start of choruses etc. Are these fair comments, Steve?

    • @SteveGuitar
      @SteveGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I might have agreed with you, except if you pair it with the Aeros looper, You can build songs with complex arrangements and multiple drum parts, all with your foot. Check out both of my videos using that looper.

    And I am also planning to get one.
    But is it worth getting this big BB or better wait for newer version as its been nearly 7yrs since it came out.
    Please just share your experience.
    I can wait for may be another 6months or so for newer version rather than hating myself for buying this model and the new one pops up in the market the following week..

      Glad you like it, and I haven't heard anything about a new version, but maybe one's coming? If I'm right, you can update the firmware on these easily, so they may just keep that going so people don't need to buy new hardware. So maybe go for it? Just a thought ;-)

      @SteveGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I’m not 100% sure, but this has really nice stereo outputs, so I assume as long as you can run it into those devices, it should work great. That’s a bit of a guess, because I don’t own either of those pieces you’re talking about. Sorry I’m not more help!

    Hi ! Thanks for the demo !
    What loop station did you use at the begining ? How do you connect it to the bb ? Is it synchronised ?
    I've got a fender GTX 100 with à looper GTX 7. Is it enough or do I have to buy another loop station ? Thank you !

    • @SteveGuitar
      @SteveGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, glad you liked it! I actually used the Boss RC 505 to record both the beat buddy and the rhythm guitar first onto one track, then overdub the lead guitar. You could run everything into the mustang and use the GTX7, but it would be mono, because everything would go into the guitar amp input (and you would probably have to use the acoustic amplifier model so that the drums would sound good; otherwise, they would be run through a fender twin or similar). In other words, it’s best to run the beat buddy out to speakers in a room and then use the guitar amplifier FX on top of that. I have some other videos where I explain looping kind of stuff and my set ups.

    • @darylboyd5594
      @darylboyd5594 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So can you run guitar into the beat buddy and split out from the beat buddy, one to monitors and one to amp? I used to do something like that with the trio plus. And I’m assuming you just have to be right on the money if you are going to use the looper that comes with the amp along with the BB.

    • @SteveGuitar
      @SteveGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darylboyd5594 Yes, that’s right, you could run one output one place, and another another place. But from my experience, trying to sync 2 loopers is very difficult, unless they have midi sync and their clocks perfectly time.

    • @SteveGuitar
      @SteveGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      🤣 I’m not sure how it would work. I know you could run it into the main input instead of a guitar, to put down a drum loop in the looper, then plug the guitar back in. Not the best scenario. Maybe the effects loop?

    • @allenstocks6074
