This one was a lot of fun to shoot. Had no idea the Footswitch did so much with the BeatBuddy. It does so much that I'm going to need to shoot a couple of additional videos to include the BeatBuddy Mini and MIDI Maestro.
thanks for posting this, you just saved me a lot of headaches, i got the BB a few days ago and got the foot switch today, didn't follow the instructions as close as I should of and both of my switches were acting like a crash sybil .... you talked me through it and off the ledge ..Thanks
My BB and Footswitch arrive tomorrow. As you can imagine, I've been soaking up video tutorials at every opportunity. I have to say that yours are among the very best; they are clear, concise and with excellent production values. Great work. Subscribed.
What I do is set the footswitch operation to what I want each switch to do when I step on the switches, then I put the beatbuddy up on the table right by me so I can see the dam thing and switch through everything with the footswitch on the floor ....works great! But of course you will need a longer cable to connect them!!🎶🎶🎶🎶
with the BB + the footswitch - can you move BACKWARD with your drum parts? example - if you had 3 drum parts within your song, I understand how you can advance from part 1 to part 2. But can you move from part 2 back to part 1? or from 3 back to 2? or can you only advance forward? (using the footswitch?)
Hey there, yes you can! You can either change one of the footswitches on the Footswitch+ to go to the previous part of the song when the song is playing, or if you want more MIDI options, check out our MIDI Maestro, where we have a pre made BeatBuddy mode with a ton of commands to help you navigate through your beat. Check out our video showing you how to change the function of the footswitch here: th-cam.com/users/shortsLCyidHQ9mYw and check out our video showing you how to use the MIDI Maestro with the BeatBuddy: th-cam.com/users/shortsjbLtJDt3ciE
will beat buddy work with . Digitech FS3X 3 Button Foot Switch ... any videos of you doing a tutorial with it.. thanks. I don't really want to buy ANOTHER footswitch. thanks
The songs are preprogrammed by singular sound. You can make your own midi sequences and create songs but it’s a long process and a pretty deep understanding of midi
Thank you for your video! I am not sure if anybody asked you this question or not -- why do we need to buy proprietary footswitch? Can I just use one of my spare ones? Thank you!
I watched the entire video and read thru all the comments, but I can't figure out how to use the external footswitch to single press stop (equivalent of double press). Is there a way to do this?
Hi, thanks for the video. And I am also planning to get one. But is it worth getting this big BB or better wait for newer version as its been nearly 7yrs since it came out. Please just share your experience. I can wait for may be another 6months or so for newer version rather than hating myself for buying this model and the new one pops up in the market the following week.. Many thanks.
Sure thing. As far as I’m aware there are no planned updated versions of the hardware. I know there are firmware updates planned but that does not affect the hardware. I think you’re safe.
Hello, does Beatbuddy Mini 2 also have the same fuction that changes the function of external footswitch? In your clip of Beatbuddy Mini 2, I think you said that accent hit can be changed but don't think you said it can be used as a tempo changer. Can you confirm on this for me?
From the Singular Sound website.... "With the Singular Sound Footswitch, select genres & songs, change tempo, add accent hits and drum breaks anytime - creating a powerful, realistic live effect, all totally hands-free."
Be aware that the beat buddy will not play a song, it will only play a part. You have to manually transition through all the parts in a song plus fills. Transitions need the pedal to be held down for a different duration to a fill unless you have the extra foot switch and set it up to transition etc. either way you have to manually transition through every song and some have many transitions. Sultans of swing has 27 plus fills and you have to get the timing right. It’s a great sounding drum pedal but I bought it thinking I could play entire songs by pressing on the pedal and leaving to play, I also bought a lot of the premium library only to find it doesn’t have that ability. It wasn’t obvious to me when I was looking to buy it that this was the case so be warned you will need to put a lot of time into this if you want to use it in your band !
Thanks for sharing. Like I often say, you need to treat the pedal like an instrument. It takes time to learn and use it effectively in a live or studio situation. Some are easier than others. What I will say is that the BeatBuddy when combined with the external footswitch produces an amazing combination. But yes, you need to practice and learn the pedal.
Actually I've read on the Singular Sound forum, that you can load soundfiles (wave files, that is) that can be used as "finite" backing tracks, so to speak. It takes a bit of tweaking (nothing major, just some "preparing" of the file on the computer interface, not on the pedal itself) and it has some downsides like the fact that apparently once you make the sound file start, there's no way of stopping it with double or triple taps on the pedal. Because it's not a MIDI command. You have to turn the unit of by unplugging it. But whatever... if you keep that in mind and be careful not to start a song by accident, you should be ok.
Very interesting, can you tell me whether the function you assign to the two switches stay the same until you decide to go into the menu and edit them again, or they can be assigned differently for each song you load onto the BeatBuddy? (Say, for example... for the first song in the setlist, the left footswitch is an accent, but for the following song has another function already assigned and loaded)
What I do is set the footswitch operation to what I want each switch to do when I step on the switches, then I put the beatbuddy up on the table right by me so I can see the dam thing and switch through everything with the footswitch on the floor ....works great! But of course you will need a longer cable to connect them!!
@@falcons5683 not really. You should watch my Quickstart video on the BeatBuddy. It will answer all of your questions about loading songs, which is what you need to do in this case. There are songs that are in for for time and their songs that are in 34 time.
well i just bought the beatbuddy and with footswitch, footswitch right switch doesn't work, lots of fun, a lot of people online with same issues, to the trash, if i need a footswitch would choose something else

Not sure if it's addressed anywhere, but is it possible to use the stock drum tracks at different time signatures? I picked one of these up this week and I notice all the genres and songs are in 4/4, aside from the Odd Time folder of course
Thanks for the question. It's a beat playback, so if you want to create odd time signature songs for it, you need to do it in a DAW and then import the song parts into the BeatBuddy. I will be covering this at some point.
@@ThePedalGuy I see. Short answer: No if speaking strictly of the unit. Long Answer: Yes with external help. I haven't had too much time to dive in. @@stario yes and through a decent amp or home stereo even they do sound great. I just figured out how to change tracks inside the same folder... Like from funk one to funk two or even from one to eight... Just by doing it in time with your hands-while it's playing push the right cursor and scroll to where you want to go then right in time press the foot pedal along with the right cursor. I do this when I'm sending these drum parts to my stereo looper, not when I'm out busking but when I'm at home.
