Love that t shirt and album. That new cure album stands out for me as it reminds me of the mid eighties....as a moody teen...were it was cool to look miserable. Subscribed

Thanks for watching and the nice comment. Hoping to talk about Slowdive soon. Agreed this Cure release has a lot of the vibes of their late 80's or even Wish output. Check out my other two Cure videos if you haven't seen them.

A handsome man with lots of records who likes The Cure: this means a new subscriber has arrived. I love the idea of Brian Eno getting together with them! 🙌🏻
Ps: I prefer the white vinyl above the marbled one. Sounds much more spacious!
Btw: Which Bloodflowers tracks make you cringe? The only track I don’t really care about on that album is Watching Me Fall, even though it’s not at all bad.

I still haven't opened my white one, but I have the 2LP and red editions coming.
I know Bloodflowers has lots of fans. I tried for years to love it, but only feel I can listen to half. I dislike Watching Me Fall, it's forced and unnecessarily long. Where the Birds Always Sing sounds like a repeat of Numb tone wise which I didn't care for. I find the riffs and solos on this one are very phoned in (the solo is a half hearted retread of the solo on The Last Day of Summer). I think The Loudest Sound and The Last Day of Summer are perfect, and do enjoy half the album overall, but the other half (to me) suffers from the hangover of Wild Mood Swings.
Thanks for subscribing, I have many vids planned. Also check out my Cure album ranking, it's full of Cure audio easter eggs ;)

@@everylastoneeverylastone I just watched your Cure ranking. Such a treat, I love those type of vids - especially when it's about The Cure. I agree with you about Bloodflowers. The Last Day Of Summer and The Loudest Sound are excellent but as a whole it does sound forced and a bit boring at times. My least favorite of them is tbeir self titled one, which has some tracks on it that I just can't listen to (Us Or Them, The Promise). Hard to admit for a diehard Cure fan. 4.13 Dream is not nearly as bad to my ears as it is for most fans. I actually enjoy songs like The Hungry Ghost and The Real Snowwhite. Ah well, that's the great things about this band. They have so much variety and moods to offer and most of it is pretty amazing.

@ Yes, I have watched them too. They were good. Having done the 15 top non-album tracks by The Cure another suggestion would be to do the 15 best ALBUM tracks (I’d make the proviso that they can’t be tracks that were released as singles)

Welcome to the VC. Pretty good review, I am most likely twice your age and have been following the Cure for decades. This album I have been slow in picking up, expensive and just not sure if I’m wanting more depressing music?? Oh well soon….cheers.

It's certainly a more downbeat album, but "Drone:No Drone" and "All I Ever Am" provide a bit of upbeat variety. This album is a grower, it didn't make as much of an impression at first, it took a number of listens. Great to hear you've been with them for decades; have you seen them live and when was your first show?

@everylastoneeverylastone I did get the opportunity to see the Cure in concert and that night became an all nighter of drinking and partying untill dawn with the lads. In the mid 1980's I was close friends with a British man who worked with me at the time. Paul had grown up with Robert Smith and one other member and were high school mates, the Cure were coming to town in 87' and Paul actively began to reach out to Robert to met up and hang out. Contact was made and Paul and I got backstage after the show, this became a huge reunion and drinking mess which was one amazing highlight of my youth. So yes I have both seen them and partied with them, never saw any other shows after and in the early 90's Paul moved back to London. Cheers 🥂

@@MKtheC That's a great story, and I'd imagine it was wild as 1987 was the era when "Fascination Street" was inspired by and written after a night of heavy drinking. The only member I met was Roger O'Donnell in 2004. Robert would be a great person to share a drink with in a pub.

I agree about the production. Good songs, but mixed way too loud. I listened to it low and then I wanted it louder. When I made it louder, it was distorted and hurt my ears. It sounded better live actually when they did their concert on the day of the release. After the second track, the album is a solid listen. Favorite tracks are A Fragile Thing and I Can Never Say Goodbye.

Agreed on the Troxy gig, in particular the version of Endsong with that Reeves solo was incredible.

My stone one is a lot darker than that and not noisy, but very warped.

@@everylastoneeverylastone you know, recently I had this thought: if we put all the albums on one line. they are all good, each of us just has a different e m o t i o n a l attitude. SOLW is intense, for me it could be longer; 😃I miss perhaps more reverb. greetings from Poland.
