People don't give Robert Smith enough credit for how remarkable his voice is. Listen closely. An amazing voice. And spectacular songwriting, of course.
Robert said in an interview I watched, that he didn't like playing this song, cause it brought back a lot of bad/tough memories. It's a powerful performance here by them though - glad he did it.
the song is about having sex with a prostitute and both people knowing in their heart there's no love and it's all fake, isn't it? That's what I read from a somewhat reliable source.
I can't imagine another "rock" band writing a song like this. It is so esoteric in its musical sensibilities and that raw emotion is out of this world. The reason a band like The Cure is so adored is due to their art that transcends mere entertainment. These are all the cryptic masterpieces one would return to time and time again.
Yes, Cure had a light held high, but they were all phased out on dope. I really love their work while they were (too?) high, but I get the impressioin they themself do not really appriciate this album in hindsight. (But the ponorgraphy album was GREAT)
First heard this on the Americans .I immediately recognized the Cure .This is an example of expert use of guitar in evoking deep and inescapable haunting emotions that are as tangible as, say the death of love. I am hard death metal to the core yet can't escape this man's mastery of his manipulation of one's soul and angst
@@daveshellorz9270I’m only 2 months younger than Simon so grew up with these guys. Have just ordered a new Disintegration cd finally, my cassette died years ago 😂
Drums and bass generates firmly and professional rhytm and guitar makes that sweet melancholy which is trademark of most their songs.. Smith's voice is cherry on top of cake.. I could listen these songs all day long..
Oh yes im a super gallup fan. As much as rob. Without him i dont think the cure would be here now so strong. Love the guy. Such a presence and killer sound n lines
This song sums up a life time of shortcomings, letdowns, disappointment, and despair. It's probably my favorite cure song ever. Type o negative is my favorite with cure a close 2nd.
The thing that makes The Cure so beautiful is that they could turn around and release a song like Six Different Ways or Just Like Heaven. It’s incredible how they can break your heart one minute and have you giggling the next.
I love Robert Smith 's voice, hé ils so powerful to give us deepest emotions , definitly a genius of music and poetry, so generous, so i sharp, so true
Can I just say how much I love The CURE “I chose an eternity of this ... like falling angels the world disappears, laughing into the fire 🔥 is it always like this ?”
I purchased the album as it got released and I love playing this on the Bass Guitar. I programmed a TR 606 with the simple drum line and (try) to sing the words to it. Siamese Twins is so despair heavy yet cleanses my soul when i`m feeling down.
A very raw nightmare so painfully depicted with such angst...Robert loves Mary with all his heart this song he choked out each word like an exorcism of sorts...they are soulmates. ❤
I am always overwhelmed by the sadness of this guitar riff.
its is very emotional and deep. Sadness , you just pointed it out :-)
But its very likeable 🖤
The bass line is haunting too
It isn't sad. It is one of the most beautiful songs ever made
Live
So beautiful. Love this album
This song, this album, perfection.
Perfection of melancholy and despair. A hymn of obsession and lust. It fitted the mood of my early 20's. Still relate to this 40 years later, lol.
Maybe my fave Cure song. Every song on this album is my fave Cure song
I feel exactly the same way.

@@Aaron-zh4kj thats what I thought it was about .. the "red light" is a big give away
Jonathan Vogel I thought the red light was just to refer to the album cover of Pornography
I always thought it was about sex with someone when the relationship has gone wrong, going through the motions
Dave Parsons Hell, who nows...,ASK Robert...

@@MisterWillow It was great when it was released. The logical conclusion to Faith.
The Voice of Robert Smith still take me to another place!! 👍👍
Get on the Spectrum it gets worse and better been hurting and happy for decades
I would not now do that but I’d still happily spoon him and create a bucket list just to put that on a list
Ce morceau me fout des frissons depuis 30 ans, merci Robert.
Hauntingly beautiful! That voice! ❤️
the cure . literally the best metal band you will ever here with no distortion!
i fuckin love this band.
lmao metal band?
I can listen to this for an eternity.
This song really get under my skin and right in to my soul and heart. Lover it!

Same here. I had to look for the song after I watched the episode. Great series.
One of my favs.
Pornography, the top, disintegration, wish and bloodflowers, my fav albums by my fav band of all time!
And Faith
The "holy trilogy" (17 s/Faith/Pornograpghy) is often set as every one's fave and creates a continuity that only disintegration matched

Probably The best Cure song .... full of emotions
I have just seen the best ever version of my favourite cure song. Thank you for uploading this incredible performance. This is why we love them.
I never see " the cure ", album mentioned..........why..,..is it a little too dark...........
This is so haunting and beautiful.
I have this DVD trilogy. I've had it for over 10 years and still watch the shit out of it. The bass guitar is my favorite part, has a real good tone.
You're rigth about the bass! Fucking Yeah!
The cure are bass and drum driven , love simons bass and he moves like a rock star :-0

Dark Deep And A Cure for All ........One of the best songs Ever
I love you , Robert, since 1982❤❤❤❤
Would love to see them live.......hear TC since i was a kid........love them so so much.
Probably the best song of the band
+TARDYL TARDYL i do think so too
Yeah, it's probably the best cure's song. (but if I listen to Plainsong or Disintegration, i'll change my mind! lol )

I saw this live, wonderful memories
amazing how they make a tambourine sound sinister
Brilliant! Robert Smith at his miserable best :-)
As of today, they have not played this song live since 2004 in Mexico City I believe.... it is time.

Epic, I love this forever The CURE, deep and Human!
The cure was the first live band I saw back in 1987. I was hooked on them ever since.
What a great first concert! They definitely know how to put on a phenomenal show !

Bouleversant !
I działa!
I would play the tambourine for them for free! ❤️
nobody today can write such powerfull music
including The Cure it seems, since Wild Mood Swings
Robert Smith, Robert Smith.
Pretty sure you’re just too close minded to find any powerful music from today

Beautiful
Would be cool to see Smith and Steve Severin come together for a live version of this so many years later. And though unlikely -- Tollhurst on drums.
Deep in mind.. and for old cure.. simple and cure
Robert yuo really make my cry.......

Great!!!!👏👏👏
Pornography is my favourite album!!! Their ‘trilogy’ (Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography) is absolutely brilliant.
Too young to know, I nevertheless, choose an eternity of this. Should’ve went with Budweiser and Van Halen, cheerleaders.
