It's simple: Steph hits his threes, and is the best of his era. Bird hits his threes, and was the best of his era. So, to save your life? It comes down to who hits them while behind with 2 seconds on the clock. Not in the middle of a game. When everything is on the line, and it's the last gasp chance. Larry comes out on top there.

  • @bwink23

You have to remember...Bird was getting 10 boards a game under the rim. He was playing down low a lot too...these guys today play at the perimeter with the 3-pointer being the first option.
Bird in today's game would have the green light to launch 3's, and he would be in rhythm to do so.

Hey Hen, I’m one of the lucky fan’s that was able to watch Bird live and all the other greats of that era. In my book Bird is the Goat , period. My question is this: Who’s “stats” would IMPROVE if they played in the other’s era???? I think even Bird Haters would have to admit Bird’s would be off the charts. But can you honestly say the same for Steph and other players today??

From deep Steph is the best I’ve ever seen and Bird is for sure top 5. In the clutch and you’re down by 2 or 3 and you have to have a 3 Bird is by far the best there’s ever been. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! Great reaction

If you needed 1 person to take a shot in a big situation to win a game. There are only 3 answers:
    Larry Bird
    Michael Jordan
    Kobe Bryant
    I don't care if it is a 2pt, 3pt or foul shots.
For me personally it's Bird but I can't argue if someone chooses one of the other two.
For me you can look at 3pt shooting in 1 of 2 ways.
Totally statistically - Steph is not even in the top 10 3pt shooters of all time in this category
Clutch 3pt shots - again Steph is not in the top 10 all time.
Just because he has shot the most 3pt shots of all time and made the most 3pt shots of all time, he also missed over 4500 3pt attempts.

Great vid. I agree with you and Coop. It's not about percentages. Respect to Dominique as well. There were many, many games where I saw Bird having an awful shooting night. Then in the last minute of the game he'd hit 2 dagger three's to seal the deal. Now THAT is a great three point shooter. Terrific reaction bro. 👍💪

Before I pick between Curry and Bird I would have to look at the other team and see who is guarding each guy. Curry has better handles but Bird has the height and size to get off his shot. I think it is important to remember that Bird did not have a 3 point line in high school or in college so the 3 point line was totally new for him and all the NBA players in the fall of 1979. Another great point was that Bird in his era was the best 3 point shooter in the NBA = way ahead of the league average. Bird's first coach Bill Fitch hated the 3 point shot and probably had very few if any plays to set up a 3 pointer. The game has changed significantly and I think it is important to respect all players regardless of their era. No player can control the era that they play in!!! Love your videos and how you share teaching points!!!

Under pressure there's nobody in basketball better than Larry bird. That's why I to me he's the greatest shooter ever when the game was on the line and the biggest pressure moments only people can remember one time he ever screwed up. You can't say that about any other player in NBA. To me that's what makes you the greatest shooter of all time. What can you do when the pressure is really on.

"Hyperbole" means overly dramatic or exaggerated statements that are meant for effect, not necessarily to be taken literally.
As for who's the greatest 3 point shooter? It's tough not to say Curry because let's be honest, he would be great in the 80s NBA too. That's because he's a great shooter, not just lucky or soft or whatever. Would he be greater or even as good as Larry? We won't ever know but considering everything I'd have to give Larry the edge. Clutch, confidence, consistency, skill, psychological warfare, court leadership, Larry had it all. Also, Larry was 3/3 in three point contests. Curry is 2/8, I think. So if you're the greatest 3 point shooter ever then why are you only 2/8? And Larry was a forward, not a guard. No way Larry isn't at least in the very top of all time great shooters.

I'm 46 and I love basketball, from Jerry West to Steph Curry, I don't care, I'm fed up with all these stupid discussions and people not having the proper respect to all the players that put their soul, talent and health in this beatiful game. Because after his back was ruined and he was going to retire in 88, the Celts first round draft pick died the day he was drafted.
Larry felt he couldn't leave his teammates after that. He continued to play needing back braces and therapy everyday. Sometimes the man had to spend the night in traction to play the next day. Couldn't sit on the bench, had to lay on the floor. So his percentage dropped. He was still better than most of the league. Think about that for a minute.

    • @mrho4speed
      @mrho4speed ปีที่แล้ว +1

Juan to put a little context to the 3 pointers = Bird even admitted he rarely practiced the 3 point shot. The only time he did practice was a few days before the 3 point contest at the all star games to get ready for the competition. Bird's first coach Bill Fitch for the Celtics hated the 3 point shot. Bird I think only shot 1.9 three pointers per game for his career but when he did start to shoot more = 85. 86, 87 and 88 Bird shot over 40% for all 4 of those seasons. If Bird had grown up with the 3 point shot and shot a higher volume?? I think Bird's % would be right with or above Curry's.

Steph never won the 3-point competition 3 years in a row.
Actually comparing with numbers is a bit stupid. Who made more last second game winners. That's what it's all about. The numbers total don't really matter.
