  • The Knicks lost in the second round after missing most of their starters to injury. Now they enter the offseason with a brand new plan. Most fans want them to get a superstar and this is a look at how they will approach the summer.

Kids are regularly dunking in 7th grade and hyper-developing in advanced camps. Look at how Jamal Murray struggled against Jaden McDaniels and ANT, and Murray is 6'5". Doncic is 6'7". Def no hater of Brunson, he is great, moreso the league is getting taller and longer on a much accelerated rate than 10 years ago. Also lends crecedence to Brunson trying to get that extension now for less money versus waiting.

Jaden McDaniels is the new prototype 3-D, will be 5-10 more of him in 3 years (i.e. Trey Murph) long, lenky, athletic ... making Brunson life alot more difficult getting shots off. Gotta feeling he smart enough to know that, why he trying to take that extension money (for less) now rather than wait.

This is the problem with blaming Thibs for the injuries.
Randle -- Upper body out since Jan
    Bogey -- 35 years old
OG -- Hurt when he came over
Robinson -- Always hurt, misses 30-50 games every season
Hart playing so damn much was out of necessity, we had nobody left. Nobody on the knicks was in the top 10 in MPG, and Brunson/Randle played 30 more seconds per game than the 25th highest play, Scottie Barnes.
Mins became the issue because we got unlucky with Randle and OG. If both those guys and Bogey are playing in no world is Hart playing 48 and 53 mins. Hell, go back to the Bulls teams. Deng averaged 40MP and played like 144-156 games over two seasons. Rose's injuries had far more to do wih his playstyle than anything else. The minutes blame on Thibgs is iffy at best.

First off, it's really Luka that's front and center stage regarding 'who all teams should fear' right now, more so than Ant-Man.
Knicks have proved that they will in no way be making ANY hasty moves (like they were so notorious for doing), if said move doesn't fit the long term process that they've clearly demonstrated they're now steadfast and patient enough to see through and through.
That said, your later point of 'No moves' is the best and likely position they'll end up in this off-season unless the ideal fit for the right price becomes available.
Lastly, OF COURSE Giannis is on their and EVERY team's radar. Duh!

Thibs playing his players heavy minutes didn’t occur until the Knick were hit with a rash of injuries in late January. The Knicks in late January (past the half way point of the season so not a small sample size) had only Brunson and Randle above 30 mpg and their mpg 35 mpg each which for in their prime star players is pretty in line with the league average. As a reference Jayson Tatum averaged 35 mpg, Giannis, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis, Jokic, Kyrie and many others were in that 34-35 mpg range.
Brunson and Randle finished the year averaging 35.4 mpg which was tied for 15th highest in the league. The Knicks only had two other players averaging over 30 mpg and that was OG who averaged 34 mpg (not too bad for a starter) and Josh Hart who averaged 33 mpg. And before the injuries Josh Hart was well below 30. The Knicks had no other player in the top 100 in mpg even despite having to shorten rotations due to injury.
Thibs in past seasons with the Bulls, Wolves and even his first year with the Knicks over played players often having 5 starters all over 33mpg with 2-3 players being in top 10 mpg. But when he’s had depth on the Knicks these past two seasons he’s used it fairly well.
So the narrative of Thibs over playing guys is just not matching reality when the team is actually healthy

They pay Brunson 30-35 mil for next couple/few seasons. OG 40mil & another star 50 mil (George?). Hold onto Hart, Divencinzo, Hartenstein.
That's a solid six. Then you'd want to find a couple few players who can give some decent minutes in playoffs. Personally, I think that seems like a legit contending team.

The Knicks don’t need a star, they need to bring back OG and Hartenstein while attempting to build the back end of the bench via the draft. Then if Bridges, Ingram or another “All-Star” caliber player becomes available for a good price then pounce but until then the Knicks with their existing core and some additions on the back end of the roster are good enough to contend as is but flexible enough to make a move if needed.

The real problem with Mikal is if the Nets would even deal him to the Knicks in the first place

Is a sign and trade with the Heat for Butler giving up OG Anounoby a possibility? The Knicks would obviously have to add some draft compensation, and matching alries may be a little struggle depending on how much the Heat wanted to pay OG. The Heat would then get a couple of years to develop their young guys like Jaime, Jovic, whoever they draft this year and the lottery pick next year (pick goes to OKC, but is lottery protected), alongside the more experienced Herro, Bam and OG. They could also trade Rozier and Robinson for a bad contract like Ben Simmons and get some draft picks back. I think it would make a ton of sense for the heat to do this because at the moment they keep finishing in the middle of a non competitive eastern conference, because as good as Jimmy is in the playoffs, his production goes down in the regular season so that puts too much pressure on guys like Bam and Herro to step up, which they are not comfortable in doing. This would allow the Heat to have a couple losing season to develop their young guys and accumulate assets to then trade for a top 5/10 player in the league. For the Knicks it would be an upgrade on OG who they may lose for nothing, and just like Brunson, Jimmy's production in the playoff's goes up. Jimmy managed to reach the finals twice without a co-star, so having Brunson alongside him might just be the right formula for them to win.

  • @Aeklypsis
    @Aeklypsis 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

Bridges is plenty big for them. Why gut their depth for Giannis, when their whole playstyle is centered around Brunson? Get rid of Randle, grab Bridges, pay OG and Hartenstein, get one more reliable role player to mitigate their injuries and run it back. Brunson will only be getting better.
Brunson, Donte, OG, Bridges and Robinson is a monster starting five and you have Hart, Bogdanovic and Hartenstein off the bench? It's probably the best roster in the NBA.
Edit: Forgot Mcbride, amazing back up guard.

you know, it's all about expectations. The Knicks won only one series in both of the past two seasons. There are reasons why they don't go further, and it's not only injuries. The Knicks should be careful not to fall into the same narrative Knicks fans are using to legitimate both runs. Brunson is a really good player, but not Top 10. Randle is very inconsisten and usualy plays worse in the playoffs. I donÄt see this team going to the finals any time soon. Even reaching the CF (something the Knicks have not done) isn't something outstanding, it happens regularly to non-contending teams (Lakers in '23, Hawks in '21, Blazers in '19...Pacers in '24?): all these teams failed to improve because they thought they were already a contender.
