Hey Mark, thanks for the review. You’re incredibly detailed and helpful.
Much thanks for Singapore!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft My pleasure!
Thanks for your many years of work. I’ve been on TH-cam for over a decade and this is the first time I came across your channel. Your work will help future outdoorsmen to see what is available on the market. If you can make two videos, one what actually works no matter what, and two what do you use on a regular basis. Great consistent work!!!!
Thank you for your kind words. I will consider your video suggestions
Great demonstration, thanks Mark.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting
That is a well thought out design for multiple functions in multiple situations.
Thanks, Mark!
It really is a multiuse light. Bit big to carry backpacking but camping otherwise it is great. Thanks for commenting
Interesting Light & Love The Functions, Thanks For This Mark ! ATB T God Bless
Thanks for commenting Terry

Cool review. Looks like a great camp flashlight. Something to have in the truck bag. Thx..
I agree, Camping or leave it in the toolbox. Great for both. Thanks for commenting
Hi Mark!
While not being an outdoors person myself, but do love some flashlights regardless, I really appreciate your thorough review of the Hoto.
Would have been interesting to see how much of a lampshade/dimming effect the wrap thing has as I've seen people complaining about the ambient light being too bright. In case you ever review a flashlight with a similar feature again (you'll never know, right?)
I'll surely watch some of your bushcraft videos and other reviews as well. 🙂👍
Hello, I think the brightness is subjective. I find the high level is a little bright but the variable setting works well for me. It depends on what you want the light for. Also, how low or high you hang it. Thanks for commenting
Seems like a nice light
Definitely different. Thanks for commenting
G'day Mark, versatile alright, though not sure why one would go to the trouble to incorporate all those features ....... then effectively make it disposable.
I guess you could argue that even LEDs have a life, but it's generally in the order of 10s of 1000s of hours usage.
Appreciate the metric conversion btw. I am familiar with imperial too, but far easier to visualise metric without referring to measuring tools IMO. Cheers Duke.
Hi Duke. I need to look at the issue of battery life a bit more. If you can only expect a few years then it is not a good thing being sealed in but if you can expect, say, 10 years, it may not be such a big deal. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Fair point Mark. Rechargable battery life, (if rated at all), is based on average no. of charging cycles. Of course there's going to be plenty of variables; brand, how far you run it down, the charger, storage, temperature and such, but if memory serves, 500 to perhaps 2 thousand cycles under ideal circumstances. So 10 years, (though I haven't thoroughly tested the theory), would be attainable if you only use/charge it occasionally. I can tell you that it's entirely possible to get a sub par one, or more, amongst a batch. Should that happen, you'll certainly wish it to be replaceable.
Furthermore, I keep duplicates of 26650s, 18650s, 14500s and NiMh AAs, for instant power on change over, + rotation spreads the load, pardon the pun; ..... cant do that if not replaceable. Sure, if in fact you can actually get into the workings, (like some phones and other devices), it may possible to un-solder and solder in a newie, ........ but who wants to do that. Even then, if the battery happens to be proprietary ......... can be a bummer to obtain, and if you can, likely a pretty penny, ..... and obviously no help on the trail, or if otherwise you need it NOW..
@@eyeofthetiger4184 All good points. I just started looking into the issue and I think you will the average lifecycle claims have been reduced to 300 to 500. I just watched a video on "right to repair" talking about this issue. Has me thinking about looking at lights to see if the battery can be user replaced. Whole new area for me
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Good on ya for expanding your horizons Mark. I guess bottom line - (like most things), its quite an art in our consumer society, to determine whether its worth your time, effort and dough to repair .... or simply replace. Having said that, as an ex-sparkie with only a basic knowledge of electronics, there's plenty of folks out there that practice it as a profession or indeed as a serious hobby and wouldn't sneeze at a couple of internal battery terminals, .... again if one can actually get inside without destroying the case, lol.
I would strongly suggest, (if you havent already), get a set of "security screw" and micro flat, phillips, torx and hex head bits and a driver to suit. The fine soldering is often quite a challenge if it comes to that, consider a heat sink and "solder sucker" depending on the connection. I assume you'd already have a multimeter.
Oh yeah, you'll almost certainly void warranty, manufacturers often use a paint spot or other medium in strategic locations, that if separated, they can tell if the unit has been tampered with, but hey if the particular issue isn't covered anyway, either by component or time, .... it's a moot point.
Good luck mate.
Fancy
Nothing simple about this one. Thanks for commenting Jim
The non replaceable battery is a bummer. But I do dig the mood settings
Yes, I agree. Thanks for commenting
Hi Mark, maybe I missed it, but does this flashlight have any water resistance? Being on Vancouver Island, that would be really important for me😀
I did makes a text statemen ton the screen but no, HOTO did not provide a waterproof rating. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft ok, thanks for letting me know!

How long does it take to charge?
HOTO advises charging will take 150 minutes. Thanks for commenting
so this torch has in all mode the spotlight at center? i like torches with no spotlight
Yes, it has the spot light on the end and the floodlight on the side. Thanks for commenting
@@MarkYoungBushcraft sorry i wanted mean.. This flashlight has the light point at center? The hoto flashlight lite doesnt have it
@@andyheartofdarkness If I understand you correctly, you are asking about the flashlight on the end. This light does have a central hotspot with a distinct flood or spill around the sides
The cool light, the non-replaceable battery, and the no memory along with the high price for that disposable light makes it a hard pass! I have better lights for less!
I agree it is not for everyone. Thanks for commenting
