    I just finished the audiobook of Tom Felton's recent memoir "Beyond the Wand" and it was the first time I had cried for a book. It was heartbreaking to know how he struggled with alcohol and I believe a few other minor things and he resisted rehab until their was one point were I believe an agent said something and that really put him into prospective. I'm so proud that he managed to overcome those issues and that he's very happy with how he is now.

    If you want to read a memoir about an Old Hollywood starlet, I recommend Ava Gardner’s memoir, Ava: My Story. She talks about how she grew up poor during the Great Depression, her marriages to Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw, and Frank Sinatra, her career in Hollywood, etc. She talks about how during her marriage to Frank Sinatra, she fell pregnant twice and aborted both pregnancies, one of the reasons being how MGM apparently had penalty clauses about their stars having babies. She also talks about Howard Hughes and an abusive relationship she had with one of her costars.

      So many people probably think that the life of a beautiful, successful, talented, glamorous woman like Ava Gardner must be so ideal. Here she is attracting these "A-list" men, too. What a fantasy life she must lead! Yet, the reality is that so many of these famous actresses were so-often abused and controlled by the studios as their A-hole A-list husbands

    The one thing I like that Cory has figured out too,
    Talking about the abuse, makes the ones who scared you, when you were younger, the ones afraid now.
    They are afraid he will name them, expose them.
    Behind the scenes it may not seem a big deal, but to those people, losing their reputation, their way of life is worse then prison.
    I just wish his friend could see it now. How what he went through isn’t something people brush off.
    People do stand next to you and help you face them down.

    What I love about Leah is that she stresses every time she's speaking on behalf of the victims. Anytime they even try to talk about her, or her struggles, she's like, no, no, they're the ones who need help and always talks about how she got off easy. I like how self aware she is of how easy things were for her in that situation compared to other current/former Scientology members. It's rare for people to notice others have it worse than you and on top of that actually try to help.

    Poor Shania! How could she know that EVERYONE in the music business cheats!! My husband of 35 years is a sound engineer, and leaving LA was the healthiest thing we ever did for our marriage! It wasn't LA, it was the mindset that rewarded underhanded behavior. He is still a talented engineer, but we came back to our hometown and fell right back into our great relationship, probably because we were back with family and friends who wanted us to be happy, not break us up. I remember the tons of really young, gorgeous girls would just tell me up front that they were going to "steal" my husband. It was completely open and out front and ruthless. If men knew how used they can be, they would never fall for it, but maybe they would...

      That book!!! Her husband treated her as a slave and a punching bag, was so unbelievably abusive that I always find it impossible to believe that people didn't intervene more. I know times were "different" then, but it's still inconceivable! When Ike was interviewed after they divorced, he claimed to be confused by her attitude, saying, "I didn't hit her more than any guy hits his wife". Tells you what a violent psychopath he got away with being. No amount of drugs or alcohol or violence in his past is any excuse. I always love hearing that she actually became a Buddhist and found a great love and built a fantastic place in Europe to live that didn't have the casual racism so common in the US. I am a "mixed chick" and proud of it, but have dealt with some, to me, inconceivable behavior and attitudes that completely still astonish me, even though I'm much older now! Things have NOT changed as much as we pretend!

    I’ve been reading Jennette McCurdy‘s book while listening to her narrated and it’s so amazing. Her story is actually pretty sad. It’s so sad her mom forced her to do acting when she wanted to live a normal life. I’m happy Jennette McCurdy doesn’t have to do acting anymore since she has a happier life now I met her back in 2011 at CAPITOL RECORDS. They were doing a filming for cupcake wars but the celebration of the release of her country music album that she did that met her I still listen to her music and watch her on iCarly and Sam and cat from time to time I wish that she would be in the reboot but I know in her book she said that she didn’t want to do it. And I don’t blame her what she said about Dan Schneider, who she calls the creator of forcing her to do stuff she didn’t want to do on the show like to drink alcohol.

    Shania Twain actually lost her voice and range due to Lyme disease. Not because of her cheating ex-husband. 😒😒😒

  • @cindywells9119
    @cindywells9119 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Actually a more recent documentary revealed that while Shania Twain’s marriage fell apart and she lost her voice she was going through a bout of chronic illness from Lyme disease that she got while horseback riding. This could far more likely be the cause for losing her voice as well as being at the root of the marriage falling apart, as few marriages tend to survive in the midst of the disease. Whether it’s Shania, Avril Lavigne, or Yolanda Hadid, marriages have a tendency to collapse, particularly because men tend to misread the way the illness affects behavior as having emotional or character implications, rather than simply being caused by physical pathology. The exhaustion causes physical withdrawal as well as the sex drive becoming nonexistent, and men tend to see this as indicative of a lack of love for them, when in fact it’s beyond the control of the person with the illness to in any way control or rise above what they’re going through. The documentary is on Netflix (I can’t recall the name), but I can only guess that the stigma surrounding the disease is what caused her to not mention this in the autobiography.

    I have the most pity for Corey Feldman,Corey Haim, Jeanette McCurdy, Brooke Shields, Drew Barrymore and Viola Davis. Going through tough times is rough, but doing so as children must be incomprehensible. I admire Leah Remini for taking on and unmasking of the insidious "Church" of Scientology. I feel bad for Shania Twain who was so overwhelmed by the depth of betrayal from not only her husband, who she loved, but her best friend, who she also loved. To be so overwhelmed that you lost your ability to sing? That has to feel almost beyond the ability to heal. Any how, if I've missed anyone it was unintentional. God bless all of these people going forward. And God bless everyone who reads this comment.

    there was a show in the early 2000's with Feldman and Haim and I remember them siting to dinner in a restaurant and having a conversation about someone that sexually abused them both. they didn't say a name and at the time every report about it said that were probably talking about Michael Jackson, until Feldman's book came out and it actually wasn't him. It's crazy how people assumed that it was him because at the time it was easier to put the blame on someone who already had a reputation then acknowledge how many predators were actually in the entertainment industry.

    Is Rita Moreno not considered a person of color? I am old and confused. Is my time line wrong?

    • @jasonmistretta4295
      @jasonmistretta4295 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      She is a person of color. Correct. What is also correct is that Rita Moreno never won an Emmy Award which Viola Davis has. With that being typed, the video WAS wrong about being the only person of color to have all 3 awards. Whoopi Goldberg has the EGOT title (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, & Tony Awards). So, Viola Davis isn't the only one with that distinction.

    The fact that anyone would be such an idiot as to cheat on the beautiful and epic Shania Twain is complete stupidity on their part. At least she's getting all the money and credit for her music now, since he used to claim he "made" her and assholes would claim as much in interviews with her. But she is doing music again as she says in her Netflix documentary 😌
    I never knew that about Drew Barrimore. I'm glad as a woman she was able to come back with a great acting career despite having dealt with addiction. Society loves to vilify and demonize women in the spotlight who have mental breakdowns that the public sees or end up delving into substance use. Y'all know the women I'm referring to...
