    Having grown up in Switzerland I am fond of Tissot and will always choose it. I consider it the most popular, most "familiar" watch brand, almost like Seiko in Japan. In fact Tissot should make its own version of the "Grand Tissot"...

      Part of being in the group is that they basically already have Grand Tissot in Longines or Omega.

    • @shuycg
      @shuycg 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yeah, but you see, neither Tissot nor Longines are allowed to reach their true potential be ause they *must* use ETA calibers and stay in their designated price brackets. I would have loved for Tissot to recreate the Telemeter at a much higher quality. The original is a 6 figure collectable... the recreation is a 42mm, 2k euro, limited to a 60 uears old Valjoux caliber design.
      Longines are pusshing the boundaries of their price bracket recently and the Pioneer line is prestigeous already.
      Yet, they haven't created a manual chronograph watch worthy of their heritage yet. They need to be allowed to make their own calibers.

  • @jpdemer5
    @jpdemer5 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    The CW is just under 10mm in thickness - not bad at all for an automatic with a sapphire caseback. The PRX auto is about a mm thicker; even the quartz is 10.4 mm.
    I can see where the PRX is perfectly adequate and priced very well, but I'd have a hard time not leveling up to the Twelve if I could afford it. It just looks so much better (Glacier blue in a steel case: chef's kiss), and no plastic parts inside. (I don't trust the Powermatic 80 to last for decades, the way a traditional movement would.) Plus, the Sellita movement can be serviced locally, if/when it's necessary.

    Take the dial and hands from the CW and put it on the PRX and it's a perfect watch. However, the PRX Auto ticks all the boxes, especially for the price. That's why I have the PRX Auto. The additional price of the CW is not justifiable IMHO.

  • @everythingautomotiveeta5839
    @everythingautomotiveeta5839 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Imho ther are kinda in different price points. Auto prx 700 auto CW12 is like 1200 on bracelet. Is the CW12 a better watch? Yes i think so. But im not sure they really should be competing at the price points. The fact we are talking about the PRX against the 12 Alone sais a lot about it.

    • @skeleton1765

      And they look completely different. I just really love the PRX case and how simple, flat and linear it is. The CW has that 12-sided bezel(which I think is hideous). Crown protectors, the bracelet is “better”, but I think is too busy.
      It’s like comparing a Grand Seiko Oyster Homage to a Orient Datejust homage. Same ballpark, but still very different.
      CW fanboys acting like they’re high class because they don’t like the PRX is hilarious though. It’s all personal preference. I’m glad you like it, but the CW probably would be voted uglier in a random poll.

    I got the frosted lichen Twelve on rubber and a bracelet. In my opinion, it blows the PRX away in every way except power reserve. I also have the 41mm Tudor Royal with diamond indices, and it is a similar step up in quality, though an even larger step up in price.

    I guess we just had the pot stirred up. On my left the nice well made CW, on my right the nicer PRX with double power reserve and a lot of brand tradition... Uh oh... Money not being a problem,,, I still want the PRX... But CW already have their die hard followers. Man I love this watch world. I had a discussion with friends earlier and it was stablished that one buy to look good on the wrist and be seen, another one for the thrill of making their money to work so well, translating into good stuff and awesome value. I have tried the prx and I have a Cw and I can tell you the quality difference between the two is huge. The bracelet quality it's far more superior from CW, I don't like the cheap feal of metal on my wrist so CW offers a fat better quality bracelet, I know it's nearly double the money but I personally cannot compromise on quality. Visually CW is also better in my opinion. Shame Cw doesent have the same power reserve like prx 80 huurs. Other than that 80 hours reserve from prx nothing else can beat the 12. CW offers very high quality watches for very affordable prices, Cw is the first step in to premium mechanical watches and plenty to chose from their collection. Shame watchfinders don't take them serious enough to accept them in their stores and web. I think you will attract more customers and have a wider range by adding cw to your portfolio.

    Comparing this two is tricky because even if they sit in the same "integrated category" are different approaches to it. Even the budget is comparable when looking at the respective specs, where one is unmistakably on a budget but still enjoyable, the other is more in the bang-for-buck league. Both are remarkable efforts to relaunch the brands and both are doing it by surfing the integrated wave. But one thing is different and it's the overall quality. If to a non trained eye they could look similar, they are not. The CW has a general overall higher standard, a better movement and, as Andrew said, gives that glimpse of high end that the PRX cannot. And a second aspect is the target they are aimed, the PRX to fashion youngsters, the Twelve to more grown up connoisseurs.
    In the end it's more a matter of how many money one can and want to spend. Personally I'd make an extra effort to save more to get a CW than a PRX but I would understand who has a passion but struggles to reach even the PRX budget.

  • @BAF605

    Love CW but The Twelve is an over fussy design that won't age well. The PRX may be simpler and not as well made but it's a reissue from the 70's and as many manufacturers are realising by looking at their back catalogues designers of the past knew a thing or two.

    Christopher Ward 12 is the McMansion of intergrated sports watches. The best way I can describe why it just doesn't look good to me. Just meshes things together that add perceived value/quality but as a whole looks like a mess, having weird proportions, clash in styles and is ugly in my eyes. Seems try hard.
    That's why the Tissot works better for me. It's simple, takes from it's heritage without trying to something it's not, adding a bit of depth with the waffle dial texture. The integrated bracelet and case is apart of the watch's identity.
    Powermatic costed me $400 on discount lol. Regardless it's that one watch that's unique and different than the rest, it's very bold yet simple and I like it. I already have an "elegant" sports watch that's better than the CW 12 in quality and far more classy.

  • @Sturnburn772

    The CW designers merely asked "is it possible?" not "should we?" in regards to the complexity and details of their watch design. The result: a mismatch of different design elements, awkwardness and lack of cohesion. The Tissot on the other hand, while yes it may not have the detail of the CW, is far more aesthetically pleasing and balanced as a design. Sometimes less is more. Hence why the Tissot looks good 50 years later, and the twelve will look outdated in about 10 years.

    I don't like the wide "lug shoulders" on the Tissot, they look sooooo 1970s

    The same sellita sw200 movement is in an aliexpress watch for just £200 from brand SH, its a prx clone but much better. Idk how these brand justify £900 for a selitta sw200 movement. Its like these brand are just wants to make big money keeping high profit margins charging £900 for a watch slapping a sellita give a better finish thats it. £50 aliexpress watches are giving that same level of finishing nowadays.
    Sry about the price the price for CW 12 is £1050.

    Tissot brand just means nothing to me, I’d literally rather not wear a watch. The CW has something, but is a little too bling … I find the Alpina Alpiner watches MUCH better looking integrated designs (but somewhat pricier too).

      Bro? You must have 0 knowledge on watches to say something like you just did. Tissot has history and it's the best selling swiss watch by quantity.
      On the other hand CW literally has nothing, it's brand praised only by watch noobs and of course heavily promoted on this channel. 🤦‍♂️

    OK, my experience of them is a few decades old, but they are still an instant thumbs down from me ... 🙂

    Both are hype watches. Wish this hype of integrated bracelet, waffle dial, and octagonal case ends soon. Either, you are a lucky, rich bastard to get the real deal, or you're not. Stop kidding
