    I bought myself the Powermatic 80 blue dial about two months ago and it is definitely a keeper. I'm not a huge Quartz fan as a mechanical movement is what makes a watch interesting for me personally and the +250€ price difference in my case was absolutely worth it. Also I find the Tapisserie dial better suited for most occasions, the sunburst dial looks a bit too elegant for my taste. After wearing it for a few weeks, my SO decided that she likes the watch too and bought herself the 35mm white dial the day it became available. She loves it too! This watch (lineup) has a very characteristic charm to it..

      That would happen to any watch bracelet with normal use. Get yourself some jewelry cleaner and polisher and a scotch pad and follow a TH-cam tutorial. It’s a sapphire crystal so that will be perfectly fine without scratches. If you want to keep it safe go to a watch shop they will clean it up and polish it for you and have it looking new.

    I have the black dial quartz PRX and its a classy timepiece:) feels so comfortable on the wrist and catches alot of admiring glances when am wearing it' its a Tissot that was first launched back in 1978,i prefer the quartz over the powermatic because the original was quartz and it gives it more of an authentic feeling that the original was quartz! I also prefer the quartz physically with its slightly more slender dimensions, its a beautiful watch, one of my favourites in my collection .

    There is important purpose of why there is a seconds hand on quartz because it serves as an indicator of low battery warning when your battery needs replacement the seconds hand will be ticking every 4 seconds without losing its timekeeping it will still be running accurately but will tick every 4 seconds so that you will still have days to bring it to tissot to change the battery so it will completely stop & be useless while it is on your wrist.. so removing the seconds hand is not a good idea for me..

    Another great one year(ish) review TWI! I love the PRX although mine is the PM80 automatic version. In the flesh the 'waffle' dial is far better than on video or photos but I'd have been just as happy with the flat dial of the quartz sibling. The case finishing along with that of the bracelet is on par with many watches in higher price brackets. The end links I'm fine with as they drop down. New PRX models have been announced including a chronograph (that I want to see) along with smaller dial and other strap variations. I'll probably stick with the brilliant bracelet on mine though. Oh and as I commented on the second hand removal video the watch looks better without something that wat out of index alignment.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Anthony! The Powermatic version is great overall and i do like the raised writing and the silver framed date window a lot and i wish that at least the framed window was on the quartz version! It'll be really interesting to see how the chronograph and the 35mm version wear on the wrist especially the chronograph considering its bigger and thicker but it's obviously got more going on with the dial so maybe it will even out. However as far as I remember it was a bit pricey with the mechanical chrono movement, it would have been really cool if they put in a quartz chrono movement!
      Yeah I still cant believe how good the watch looks without the seconds hand and how different the overall experience has been! I like that not only am I getting a different wearing experience because of the case and bracelet but I'm also getting a unique time telling experience!

      @@thewatchidiot Sometimes less is indeed more, without the second hand it looks a tad more elegant IMHO. I do like the sweep of a mechanical hand though as I'm sure those who replace batteries do as well to check if the little ticker is alive. The Chrono will be thicker given the well proven workhorse Valjoux 7753 and the quick date setting will be via a recessed pusher at 10. Personally I have no issue with this as it's the same on my long discontinued non wave dial Seamaster Chronograph.

    I bought both the Powermatic 80 and Quarts version, both with blue dials, the quartz is on the leather strap, the auto is on the steel bracelet. Great combination, really enjoy these watches. Especially at online prices, I paid $440 for the automatic and $270 for the Quarts, both brand new. I tested the auto with over 88 hr reserve, impressive 1-3 sec fast per day. The quartz was pissing me off at first because it seemed like the minute hand would lag after I set it, but figured out how to set it so the hand starts moving right after closing the crown. The sec hand isn't always hitting the markers, but not a big deal, same with a lot of other quartz watches.

Right now, they have the blue dial with leather strap 40mm PRX Auto for $440 without the $20 discount So $420 before tax, shipping is free. @@gpaje Im a college student and can only afford one of the two. Is the auto worth the extra money? Also how often do you need to service the auto PRX since thats another concern.

    • @gpaje
      @gpaje ปีที่แล้ว

      @@godmode2461 In your situation, get the quartz. I love wearing almost as much, always ready to go and financial the smart thing to do. The automatic is better, but that's because I am an automatic aficionado. That being said, most automatics don't really need to be serviced until 10 years, even though they recommend 5. When it starts to not maintain accuracy, then you should bring it it. But not to Tissot, but an independent watch service shop. My shop will service Tissot's, Seiko's & most other automatics for around $80. I have a Seiko that is over 14 years old and never been serviced. When it finically does go in for service, it will only cost me $80 or so. So not really that expensive to own an maintain automatics.

    I am also a fan of quartz watches. But having owned a few watches with Japanese quartz movements, going back to something like the ETA F06.115 feels like a major downgrade for no real benefits. Unlike the newer Japanese quartz, it doesn’t offer useful innovations such as solar charging or radio syncing. Worse of all, it’s not even a serviceable movement, meaning you need to replace the whole movement when there’s something wrong with it (the way that you have to do with the cheapo movement in a Swatch…). I wish big Swiss watchmakers like Tissot could take quartz seriously and innovate!

    I'm a big fan of the watch. However the second hand alignment is what makes me reluctant to buy quartz watches online. When you buy it io the high street you see what you're getting before you pull the trigger. When you order it online you're pretty much stuck with what you're getting. Taking the second hand off like you did is not a viable option for me as I feel watches without running second hand tend to look a bit lifeless to me. By the Casio have understood this issue and on almost all of their quartz watches the second hand lines up.

    • @thewatchidiot
      @thewatchidiot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah having the seconds hand not line up is a bit irritating considering so many companies like casio, seiko, and citizen manage to get it right at a similar/cheaper price point. Like you said its always best to see in in person in a store or through a retailer with a good return policy, or Amazon for that matter lol! Actually, if asked, many online retailers will send a photo of the watch itself for you to check which is nice!
      As for the lack of a seconds hand looking lifeless, i can totally see how it can be viewed that way, but for me its almost a surreal experience to see it work, without it working (kinda) lol!

      Yeah that grab and go ease is just so nice! It's a looker for sure so maybe the 35mm versions would work for you? Try one of those on if you haven't already!

    All you had to do was get the automatic with a leather strap and two of your problems wouldn't have existed.

      The automatic version was announced months after I got mine and 3rd party leather straps started coming up after that and didn't have the midlink that the OEM straps have (which were released well after this video went up). Also i prefer bracelets in general.
      That being said, I did buy the automatic but I returned it soon afterwards bc I wasn't a fan of the dial and for a watch I only wear randomly every so often, quartz was ideal!

    Yeah you basically fkd up the watch, front and back, congrats!

    A $365 watch on that you must re-assemble yourself for the second hand to be properly mounted? Completely unacceptable. Even Casio's less than $50 do that right. Don't buy people!

    Dude thats HILARIOUS. You didn't buy the auto but you went to the trouble of taking off the ticking second hand? YOU WANTED THE AUTO!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHHA. It did look much better without that ticking hand though for sure. Next time just spend the extra for the automatic though. I have it and that waffle dial ads SO MUCH luxury and presence to the watch.

    Stock is best. You devalued your watch by taking off second hand.
