My little brother an I have just go our first SUP boards. The first time we went out we got crushed! Big waves, tons of wind. I think we thought we would be jumping right up and powering through the water in minuets :) wrong we were terrible. This video had made a world of difference. Thank you so much!
About to purchase one having surfed all my life.....time to add cruising up and down my coastline to the magic of the ocean. Thanks for a no bs delivery to get me started. Liked.

This is a great video for a beginner in calm water... I just got one of these boards to use in the bay, and this video has the beginning tips I needed to get started.

I'm a shortboarder, but here where i live in summer is ofter flat or with small waves, so the sup it's really funny for those day.
this video is very useful, it explain step by step what to do, i've watch just after my first time in the water with the sup!

I did paddleboarding on holiday in Greece last year. i was their first paddleboarder and it was great fun.
thanks! just bought a SUP board on Craigslist. Went out tonight on the Navasink River near Sandy Hook, NJ. I'm looking as this as a way to workout and maybe fly fish from. i guess I'll try surfing on it too, never surfed before though.

Just tried this out yesterday! I was using a wider board though. Really good since I want to try fishing while on the board! Leaves room for having a small bucket between my feet while paddling out. Fill it with some water to gain stability.

Very nice instructions I locked padeel board up because they are doing this on my the rivers in my town the Gauley and New rivers in West Virgina Ill stick to my kayak but all the same very nice instructions i will pas this on
Excellent info here. I might add that when you are on the board for the first time start paddling imediately. This will help keep your balance. Additionally you may want to keep your eyes on the horizon line. In rougher seas the motion can be dis orienting. Generally speaking the sweet spot is located near the hole where you carry the board.

Extremely helpful video. Taking my longboard to Maine this weekend and the surf report is less than stellar. Thought to buy a paddle and try this out in some placid water. Great tips.
Jeepers, who knows how well we might have done if we had actually viewed this helpful video before attempting to paddleboard! I'm guessing this vid was filmed in the Bahamas (nice clear water, low islands)--beautiful!

That's correct... It's way more fun than go to gym and you can see how hard you body works on SUP. I'm going to try go every weekend to paddle, the feel's good.

yeah helped me too. i was holding the paddle back to front!! any chance of another to include how to catch a wave? and best way to deal with choppy conditions.

Interesting how good paddler use different techniques in paddling.
A competition SUP coach recommends your top arm to be bent at the beginning of the stroke and straighten it out as part of your power, in a bench press motion. maybe his is a more advance technique.

Since i have discovered SUP only 10 days ago, i paddle everyday (i am 5mn from beaches!!) (Méditerranée - France - Cannes).
It's very very fun and make you feel very good. Tomorrow great sun again and hot water so ... Let's Paddle !! Et vive le SUP !
