    Very good game....i thought it was over for the soviets when the m60s started knocking them down, but great objective play won the game....very entertaining gentlemen, thankyou both.

    Two things John:
    When your M109’s shot the BMP-2, He hast to re-roll the infantry says because you have a brutal, direct fire gun.
    The M60 has bazooka skirts so your side armo goes up to 10 vs Heat weapons on your assault.

    Good stuff thanks guys. Just as a clarification at the 16:00 mark: the 'Accurate' rule only applies if the shooting team also *didn't* move (essentially a lesser version of the 'Laser Rangefinder' rule). Re: the 'Stabiliser' rule, you *do* suffer a +1 to hit if you choose to increase your tactical movement to 14" using this rule (again, it is essentially a lesser version of the 'Advanced Stabiliser' rule).

    Great report and I'm really happy to see more Team Yankee content. I guess this is tangential to the ethos of battle reports in general, but given the overwhelming imbalance of forces at the end, what's the story in terms of how that constitutes a victory? Was there a Maltese Falcon hidden at the base of the oil tank or what?

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like to imagine in situations like that there there is some other force just off table that causes the losing team to pull back. Or maybe some jittery commander at HQ pulls the Formation out of battle for whatever reason. But you do make a good point

      Recovered an aircraft black box, recovered spy or other high value unit. Maybe they are about to become the scout element for a divisional level attack? Forward observers for a full battalion of artillery/ TU-95 bombers. There are lots of ways you can lose alot of units and still achieve a victory.

  • @jturunen82
    @jturunen82 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great to see TY content, a big plus on it and keep it coming!
    One somewhat major thing was that on turn 3 Soviet BMP-2 destroyed one of the APCs, but you forgot to mark it and it drove away - and in the end T-80s had one extra APC to shoot at, while they could have broken off earlier. Luckily it didn't matter, but could have been a deciding factor even. So, light up those wrecks, tankers! 😄
    On a sidenote, I dislike Wolverines. They're definitely not OP, but the deployment rule is potentially ridiculously good. Sure they fit the game if you're playing Attack on America, but would hate to see them on other theatres until other nations can use something similar a well. Maybe special forces instead of local militia.

      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oops, I don't know how I missed that. Good catch and sorry about that (Especially to Sean!). The Wolverines are pretty powerful, even just as a threat. If you have them in your list your opponent's deployment will be effected or they will suffer.

      And yeah, they're quite a threat, especially softskins which can be really expensive. As said, for certain areas they're alright, but wouldn't want to see US players fielding them everywhere just because they can 😄

    Hey! Glad to see another battle report! I'm a new player and I love the walkthrough of what you are doing. I have a quick question. I thought that the ranged in markers placed before the game did not require a roll - these were pre-aimed bombardments. That seemed logical to me because otherwise, why place a marker at all before the game starts? But I noticed in turn one you had Sean roll to range in his artillery. Have I been doing it wrong?

    • @seanyoung3656

    great battle report as always. To the question of whether it is possible for a formation commander to jump into an independent team, the answer is no. It can only be done as long as they are of the same type (tank or infantry) and that they are teams of the same formation. No support units or teams from other formations

    I’m no rules lawyer here and I certainly don’t have enough experience with Team Yankee or FOW to know what I’m talking about… but I believe in turn 4 American… when the Pattons advanced through the T-80s to get flank shots… something about that seemed wrong to me… I was under the impression that an enemy unit could not move within a specific distance from a unit unless they intend to assault… If I am wrong please correct me… I’m at work listening to this video so I can’t check the rules because my books are at home… don’t get me wrong I absolutely LOVE ❤the Patton tank … it is the tank of my childhood and it was the first formation I built… so I got joy seeing them beat up on the Soviets mighty T-80

    For shooting the Soviet AA Gecko with militia after they deployed via ambush, you could have simply used assault rifle weapon (3 shots per medium base for stationary fire). I believe the Gecko is unarmored tank team that has a 5+ save. The Soviet player must roll 5+ otherwise it is automatically destroyed. You were fortunate enough to get hits on each Gecko using bazooka shots.
    Also the shooting against the other Soviet AA unit with the LAV, the one tank that was at long range was allowed to do armor save since it's front armor was 2. A die roll of 6 could tie the LAV's AT 8.

  • @pablitopabs3866
    @pablitopabs3866 ปีที่แล้ว

    You forgot AA MG's from the T-80's and also when you shot at the T-80 HQ (turn 3) you should have chosen a unit for him to join and he could have done mistaken target to move the shot off of the HQ unit.

    • @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall
      @AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good call on the AA guns. The T-80 HQ, I believe, was within 8 of the shooting team so no mistaken Target rule.

  • @Edward-Plantagenet
    @Edward-Plantagenet ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One can never count on dice rolls but if I was playing Soviet I think this game would have been nudging towards being unenjoyable, that said, putting AA in LOS / harms way when the US side had THAT much air power was not the best move IMO. Much faster deletion of units than in FOW esp with the 'everything is in range of everything' style of TY on a 6x4 plus the extreme lethality of every unit, if you get hit, chances are your'e dead. The Wolverine deployment rules are quite unfun I think and it seems to me that BF are struggling to maintain much by way of balance in TY. As such I sway back and forth on whether I want to buy into TY or not, after seing this I think I'll stick in the 'not' camp.

    • @seanyoung3656
      @seanyoung3656 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah my game play was pretty shaky but it was my first TY and I have not played flames in a few years. So I was not ready for everything to move so fast and pump out so many shots lol. But I think the game play in theme was true to the Soviet victory no matter the cost😅. TY does fill a pretty good spot for me because I can normally only enjoy painting/playing one system at a time and TY is so similar that I am able to do that but feel like I’m playing a different game cause the quicker movement/firepower and the AA vs air power has a dynamic that FOW does not have.

    • @Edward-Plantagenet
      @Edward-Plantagenet ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seanyoung3656 I can understand that. I really like the idea of TY and the models are superb, good value too, mostly. As I would need to do both sides I was also planning to go T80 Shock and US Arm Cav with the M1A1 or HC version. It's just the ranges on a 6x4 that puts me off, 120" range arty etc. Friends of mine play on a 12x8 but sadly I don't have that luxury / option. As an aside, I also costed out doing TY with GHQ 6mm to get around the table size problem, actually worked out more expensive than BF 15s (once you factor in the box set discounts), plus, it's the models that appeal for TY, 6mm doesn't really. I thought you'd be in with a fighting chance with all the AA you had but once they were gone it was only going to end one way. That said, we can all be experts AFTER seeing what went down LOL. 😃

      @@Edward-Plantagenet T-80 box starter and the TY starter pretty much have everything you need. I basically got this army together in 1.5 weeks to play this game. Most of the jollies I get from the hobby is getting a good deal on an army that I can easily paint in 1-3 weeks. Also did you watch the video to the end ?

    • @Edward-Plantagenet
      @Edward-Plantagenet ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seanyoung3656 Funny. I thought I had, but I looked today and looking at the progress bar it had cut off half-way through as my TV box wanted to update and I hit 'Now' in error. Just watched it to the end and, fair play, you pulled off a win LOL 👋. From the gameplay perspective though I'm still undecided. TY feels a lot less tactical than FOW. Units can move fast and they all have pretty lethal firepower (even if John did have garbage rolls!) but it too quickly becomes a mere 40K style exercise in dice rolling which I can't stand. Those Wolverines defintely need nerfing too IMO. They perform more like Seal Team 6 than a bunch of kids with guns. I really like your T-80 colur scheme (airbrushed?) and I'm still on the fence about TY LOL. Yes the starter boxes are great value but then you start adding multiple AA units plus air (and those Hinds are massive!) and it quickly chews through table (and storage!!) space, and cash. I'll remain on the fence for now I think, particularly as I'm just coming to the end of painting a hundred or so vehicles for 2 FOW armies (US / German), even with an airbrush that was time consuming!

      @seanyoung3656 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Edward-Plantagenet Mother Russia is never has strong or weak as she looks lol. Thanks, yes I airbrushed them. I basically do not paint anything that I cannot airbrush 90% of it. I’m working on French Team TY and German late war with the infa red and the French are way more time consuming because all the nato patterns match so when I put the sticky tack I have to match them up some what which take like 4x longer. I’ll try and get some practice games in so I can bring more solid game play on the next one.
