I have to say, I got so used to play britain, to play mediocre vehicles that when I play other nations such as USSR or even Sweden (specially 7.7) its boring, they are so good that they are boring and I always end up going back to Britain lmao

Today, at least for me, the 10.3/8.3/7.7/3.7 lineups are very solid.

My biggest gripe with the British tech tree is the mind blowingly high repair costs. Some of the mainline vehicles that you -cannot- avoid have upwards of 11-13k repair costs. When I didn't have premium it took me 6-7 kills to break even if I didn't win the game. TO BREAK EVEN. Because each kill was around... 1.2-1.5k SL. Before they lowered the repair costs down to 8k, it was practically impossible to make money while you were anywhere above 5.7 in that sodding tech tree. And that situation did not improve until like 10.0 at the time so you had an entire rank worth of vehicles that were matched against absurdly more capable vehicles, that cost an arm and a leg to repair and that you'd need to practically play like a God every game to make SL in. (By more capable vehicles I mean things like the T55AM or anything with more mobility and APFSDS / HEATFS vs the Conqueror for example. It just gets sniped but it has little to compensate for that bar a decently capable cannon. If it isn't shattering every shot...)
I think they'd lowered the repair cost recently, I could finally play the Centurions without bankrupting myself, and they're quite good tbh.

I mained britain way back when solid AP had barely no post pen damage so you had to sit there for 4 rounds sniping all the crew. I started playing them because I saw the Firefly and thought "wow apds that'll be better!" lol. lmao. Then I quit for years and came back the other year and wow their shots now do damage. So I grinded and got the AVRE and played it so much I almost have the free elite crew.
Now HESH is nerfed to uselessness, APDS has shell shatter so I switched to Sweden. Why did I switch to another minor nation that gets nothing but full uptiers every game? I am an idiot.
Britain was my first nation and is currently my only top tier ground, air, and naval tree. Britain is something where it has both good and bad things, and some GODLY vehicles. Namely the spitfires and destroyers.
The problem with Britain’s blue water is particularly annoying when Britain had the most powerful navy at the time
They have added virtually no British battle ships built after 1914.
No HMS warspite Rodney or prince of wales
Whilst all other nations have very powerful battleships
i stopped playing war thunder, but i honestly think that the whole russian bias thing comes from when you look at it from the british tech tree pov, every update russia will get like 5 new vehicles and 1 of them will be broken in a way that its overpowered, but in the same update britian will get at best 2 vehicles and one will be broken in a way that it will be underpowered. i also remember when ship combat was first released, only ww2 boats, the first few boats that britian got to unlock where all light machine guns, meanwhile germany and ussr got flak cannons and HE tank turrets. the british tech tree seems to be an afterthought and never properly tested and seems to only be in the game since it has enough whales to make it worth while to glance at occasionally for gaijin
Yeah I noticed some of these things. Like the Warrior’s firerate is complete nonsense. It’s more on par with the Bradley.

@@interpl6089 they literally announced it when they updated APDS three or so months ago. Back when they also put APDS on the new formula. Prior it was essentially just the engine fucking up. But now it is intentional shattering with its own animation.

Japan has it worse. A lot of missing vehicles that gaining purposefully doesn't put in and a Type 10 that couldn't be further from the real one. Absolutely gimped mobility, wrong turret armour and 1 second extra reload.

Yes it pisses me off that a medium tank with a BR 3'7 body and a BR 4'7 gun (considering how big of a target it is, I think that's fair) got uptiered to 5'3 and reclassified to a TD.
I swear, considering how often you get spotted and sniped with this thing, by literally everything at it's current BR, you'd swear some one at Gaijin hates this tank in particular
@@MazzaAzi yeah, it's literally just a panther but worse in every regard. Appalling damage, longer reload, worse armor, terrible ammunition placement, same abhorrent reverse speed, and so much more. If it at least had the lol-pen capabilities of the IS-2, it'd be bearable, but it's just too inconsistent.
Are y'all complaining about the arl 44? Can't be, that thing is good and it being a TD is a positive not a negative, since it costs SP. It's gun isn't 4.7 material, it's good for it's br and the spall is great. Only problem with the tank is it's turret, it's weak.

As someone who has never played Britain but has played against them, I have often found myself wondering, "How the hell did I survive that??". Now that I understand, I would like to call out gaijins bulls*it.
It really trains you to aim for ammo and gunners. But apds is so unreliable that sometimes you just get shafted
as someone who plays britain and plays against germans, americans, and russians, i have often found myself wondering "how the fuck did i manage to survive that? im a british tank"
@choppership465 with American and Russian tanks, I sometimes find myself thinking the same thing. Against my fellow German mains, it comes down to the fact that many of the newer German mains don't understand you actually have to aim in this game XD.
From the aircraft point of view, the wellington can hardly even climb and may as well not have guns, also i find some fighters dont have the fire rate to be able to hit targets easily, you can strafe across someone and completely miss

The ordinance QF 57mm 6 pounder historically had APDS ammunition available from 1944 that could pen 160+mm yet we dont have that ammo in game because the snail doesnt want British BR 3.0 onwards to be able to slap tigers and panthers also the comet is broken not being able to pen panther ufp with its crippled 77mm APDS however 57mm APDS can pen a Jagpanther IRL, so theres that.....
The Cromwell V also should be able to pen the front of Tigers, considering thats what they were designed to do... but gaijin is gonna gaijin.
The british early air to air missles (Firestreak, Red Top) are by far the most historicly inacurate missles in the game. The Red Top esspecially. It should have the range between an AIM 9G and the russian R-23T. However the Red Top doesn`t have anywhere near that range and I know why: the missle`s acceleration is far to low and short. in the game the missle reaches about Mach 1.5 which is just a joke to the mentioned Mach 3.2-3.5 in british military reports. The seaker should be able to lock afterburning aircraft in all aspects within a range of about 2-3 km. The seaker, although partialy side aspect does also not achieve this. The Firestreak is also very underpowerd. Although significantly worse than the Red Top which was even thought of being armed on the F4 Phantoms, instead of the Aim-9`s jsut shows how powerfull they where. The firestreak`s main problem is also the rocket-motors performance. It should be able to be fired at ranges suitable for the Aim-9E/K/J/P versions. The most accurate is I think the israely Shafrir-2 range and performance. By now I wasn`t able to do research on the Fireflash which is why I am not able to give any statements for this missle`s performance.

@@mlc36tva14Indeed, not even prototypes either, but fully mass produced vehicles like the Scorpion, Saladin, Scimitar, Desert Warrior, etc.
And the prototypes/limited production vehicles available are also nice, Verdi 2 Warrior, Scorpion Kastet (Jordanian), Vickers mk.11 long range patrol vehicle, etc.
And those are just the Light tanks/IFVs…

the PGM.2000 for the GR.1 Tornado was the thing for me. that thing slaps and its finally something useful that isnt a buggy GBU that only destroys russian ERA rather than the tanks themselves.
I've been playing for years and have every country in ground up to 7.0 at least and I do not understand some of the BR choices for British vehicles compared to very similar vehicles of other nations. Take the Bosvark. The ZSD in China is a straight up better vehicle. Better speed, mobility, smaller size, better protection, higher caliber and better velocity on the gun. It's 4.3 compared to the bosvarks 5.0. I've used the ZSD as a tank destroyer quite well but the vark just can't do it. Then there is the comet at 5.3. It is worse than the 5.0 Italian Firefly in every way except speed. Worse APDS, turret traverse, reverse speed and flat armor. I don't believe the extra speed that compares to a 5.0 VK is worth the extra .3 BR. The FL10 is even better at 5.0. The Skink was finally a wirbel equivalent but somehow also made it to 5.0. Saying it compares in effectiveness to the Ostwind II is hilarious. Most of the Soviet and German CAS can pen through the turret and the 3.3 chassis can be killed by any tank 3.0 and above in one hit. It has worse pen and velocity than the wirbel so I'm not sure how it went up even with the armored turret. APDS on anything less than the 20pdr is a joke right now. I've hit a panther in the turret and the round somehow only gives the gunner a new haircut. Britain is fun but with the BR choices either UK mains are just that much better than everyone else or Gaijin has a bone to pick.
pretty much said everything right. Except the comet. I wouldn't compare the comet to the firefly. I'd compare it to an m18 (spoiler alert it often outspeeds the m18 don't ask me how). But the comparison between the panther is the big one yeah
@@lonurad1259 The comet has more horsepower so that may be why. The M18 is leagues better though. I compared it to the Firefly since I don't think speed is really that so much benefit that it makes it a higher BR. You also don't have a .50 to deal with pesky light tanks and the firefly is slower but the round can do more frontally and if you angle you can get lucky bounces. Even if you out speed a M18, the comet simply can't capitalize on the position as well as the M18 can. The M18 is just better. Sure the round doesn't have as much pen but if you get side shots it doesn't matter. The APHE is far more likely to one shot or at least do considerable damage. With the reverse and turret traverse being so fast its very easy to 1v2 enemies trying to flank if you play it right. The reload on the hellcat is much faster as well.
APDS is on the other hand is far less damaging, and prone to not killing anything important at random. Sure you can use the shot mk.8 but its still solid shot with only a few mm more of pen than the hellcat with none of the filler. With the reverse on the comet if you get gaijined or simply make a bad shot, there's no backing into cover. Tanks can easily flank you as well with the very poor turret traverse.
Ok the Bosverak is stupid and it should go back to 4.7 or even 4.3.
The Skink is fine, it is infact my second favourite SPAA after the Ostwind II. Planes will not pen you unless they suicide and even then they usually fail because anything below 60mm/40 at 30° pen can not pen you anywhere but on the engine.
And APDS is a joke on every tank. I am up to 7.0 and even on the 20pounder its is dealing no damage.
As for other BRs that mKe no sense.
Churchil VII at 4.3 with a gun useless agaisnt even 4.0 mediums. And armour which can be penned by every 50mm gun in the game from any range from the front.
G6. Slightly faster HE shell then other artys with a little bit more filler (which is irrelevant as there is literally no difference in damage between 1kg and 10kg of HE filler in the code). Sits at 7.0 with no reverse speed, no fully rotating turret and between 16 and 22s reload while thinks like the 2S3M sit at 6.3 with APHE,HEAT as well as the proxy and normal HE of the G6. It is faster in reverse, has a fully rotating turret and can not be 30 or 50caled. Oh and also reload is between 14 and 20s.
Then there are the obvious mistakes in tank performance.
Like the FV4005 being limited to its turret arc despite it being 100% the version II of the tank with a fully rotating turret because it lacks the autoloader of the version I.
The FV4202 which used only parts of the Cent or of the later Chief, yet it has a random transmission and gearbox so it is stuck at 5km/h reverse instead of the 13 it should do.
The Comet, Cromwell and Cent are also missing their horizontal stab which most tanks of the era actually had.
The Churchil Mk IV NA75 has mkIII armour (89 instead of 102mm) and in general there is an argument that even the mkIII had 102mm of armour when it landed in NA as it was one of the upgrades made during production.
Then there is the vehicle choice bullshit.
Russia has right now more than 10 vehicles maybe even as many as 30 which never made it past the partial testing stage (Hull, turret, gun, but never the combination) in their tech tree but the Cent Mk II which was the second most produced variant is an event vehicle with fantasy equipment?
As Gajin writes "our MK II centurion is the evolution between the MK I and Mk III" which is rubbish. The MKII started production before ethernet MKI. The MK I is simply the "what we can do reliably now until we get what we want" version. But Gajin decided to make a fake tank with a full stab instead of one of the many great prototypes of the Cent (one with 102mm of frontal armour which was supposed to be the Mk II but never came into production due to costs)
So whenever gajin cries "give sources for adjustments" just tell them to give theirs for the bullshit they come up with.
bro the comet has amazing turret armor, with volumetric especially causing shells to get absorbed by optics, view ports and random crevices in the turret face. It's kinda like how the tiger and panther have magical volumetric protection on their turrets.

What really tickles me is that Britian is stuck with M61 solid shot, when the entire reason the British QF 75mm gun exists was that we re-bored the 6pdr guns TO USE AMERICAN 75mm SHELLS. So the fact that Britain gets solid shot 75mm alone while America gets the same shells with HE filler is a joke.
Gaijin also gimps the m61 shell because there’s so many variants of it, probably just a mistake but apparently they’re using an early war version of m61
its historicaly accurate iirc, because irl the APHE wasn't as good as pure AP. The issue is that AP/APBC/APDS is underperforming.
Yeah, the Brits did a study and found that APHE was only slightly better than Solid Shot, creating a marginally wider cone of shrapnel, while reducing the shell's armor piercing capabilities and overall reliability. Gaijin just makes APHE RIDICULOUSLY more effective than it actually is.

The reason there is no filler in the m61 round is that the early variants of the shot would break or explode on contact with German armour. So the British in a good spot of wisdom removed the fuse and powder filled the cavity as to not upset the balance and launched that till a more reliable shell came out. They also found out that the German 75mm (for the short 75) shell fit into the cartridge of the american 75mm so britsh troops would capture german ammo take the shell out stuff it in the 75mm cartridges from America and fired that. After the modified version with the German shell was sent back to America the m61 round was fixed and used by uk troops. Gajin just in stupidity ran with the hulled out filler shells despite Britain stopping that after the new rounds came in.

Its entirely out of stubborn British pride. That is why Gaijin makes us weak in game. Our pig headed resolve to fight on and never surrender to the meta! If necessary for years, if necessary alone!

I'm some what with you there too. I only play Britain because I'm British. Everyone says the British in WT are shit, and I just pin that to the fact that they just dislike us in the real world. Though I can say that I see the actual reasoning in air combat, constantly going up against BF109s and similar aircraft while still flying a bloody gladiator.
Britain has so many unique and incredibly awesome vehicles that could be added, and that people have asked for for years, yet Gaijin just refuses to give Britain anything good.

My favourite Britain moment is the German hunter and the fact it gets drop tanks as well when the British ones don’t, these small things show you how much gaijin cares about britain

Its the fact that they could have a whole host of extremely competitive vehicles from other commonwealth nations. leopards, cougars, and coyote lav’s from canada, Boxer IFV’s from the aussies, or something really wild like the Namica from india. But instead everyone gets new toys and Britain gets the stormer broken again.
It’s depressing how gaijin treat the tech tree tbh. I posted on the forums about how Britain is SEVERELY lacking in light vehicles and IFVs and vehicles overall tbh. Absolutely nothing. Gaijin won’t do shit to the tech tree unless it gets them more money. I’m sick and tired of it.

They should just change it to "the Commonwealth". Britain can still form the backbone, but make it the official place for original Commonwealth vehicles

Stormer HVM not working properly is what gets me, I love it but it shouldn't take 4 missiles to take out a plane.
Also I miss when the AVRE was initially implemented and HESH was actual god-tier.
Also the Stormer HVM should be 9.7 and not 10.3 because it's a direct hit and not fire and forget.
What I hate about the Stormer HVM is that they fix it one update, then break it in the next. It can't ever just work properly for any extended period of time.
Same with the strela, they broke everything
I don't need HESH to be god-tier, but if a Pershing would die when a 165mm HESH round lands on it's roof, that would be nice. All I'm asking is that we get actual HE ammo instead of the plush toys we've been firing.
Stormer HVM has 18 km radar range and 4 Mach speed of missile and has a better lock
I remember when atgms got added to the game, Russia got the IT1 ( the mouse killer) Germany got their own version ( I can't pronounce or spell it) and Britain got a prem cent mk3 what had some atgms that where mostly useless because they fired up and then came down. then years later ( after atgms became kinda irrelevant), they got the swing fire ( and a bigger swing fire).
I think that gaijin treat Britain as an afterthought. They probably make most of their money through USA, Germany, and Russia trees, with the UK in 4th so they don't focus on Britain untill their main sellers are done.
US makes them money but they still abuse us. Robbing us of most of the cool tanks that could have been tech tree.
As an Italian, if Gajin treats UK like a second thought, then Italy is like the third or fourth thought... Like that homework you do in the last 10 minutes on the bus 😂😢

British top tier is severely lacking light and IFV’s, the AJAX 40mm and Boxer with 30mm availability are both confirmed to enter service. Instead we get pillows and snail decals.
Britain has been top dog exactly twice in the history of the game from what I remember; when the Hunter was added and when the Chieftain was added, both were the best in class when added but now both have fallen victim of BR compression.
Hunter F1 was only the top dog for 1 patch. The following patch saw the release of the MiG17, which beat the F1 in basically ever scenario
@@p3rran i think he means the f6 variant with its 20g missiles that had a range of about 800m when it was slower than every other top tier aircraft and there were no flares, but due to everyone trying to dog fight at that point it was free lunch for the f6 when if they just went in a straight line the hunter was helpless edit: (i love the f6 it currently is my most used aircraft but when bvr was added as well as more advanced jets it has fallen a lot in preformance and even its once op killed missile is easy to dodge in comparison to the russian 30g missiles at the same br)
I recall when Gaijin moved away from "Sekrit Documents" and implemented the Demarre Formula. This pretty much universally made AP obsolete. Prior to the Formula's implementation, AP, despite having lackluster post-penetrative damage, certainly had the advantage in terms of pure penetration over shells with HE filler. Nowadays, I'm pretty sure HE filled shells have more pen! This to me was the final nail in the coffin for Britain. I'll still queue up as the Brits to take a stroll down memory lane but I'm reminded in short time why I avoid them
Ever since I played Britain, its been painfull, but somehow I kept coming back to it, learning how to play they vehicles and essentially learned how to use every British vehicle to its maximum potential and since then I started finding the Big 3 boring since it was so easy to play and do good in their vehicles, I love the challenge Britain gives and when used correctly you can dominate the big 3 to the point that they start thinking you are a hacker.
the thing britain has going is its insane penetration (its peak in midgame) and stupidly low br 2 plane stabilizers, at 6.3 the charioteer mk7 has ~400mm of kinetic ammo penetration and over 1400 velocity, its a point and click, you dont got damage but you can pen everyone everywhere and just line up the internals

I played War Thunder for about four years, primarily playing Britain before expanding out to other nations like Germany and Russia. I always felt like that Britain was always the underdog especially at high BR. I continued playing Britain even though my friend who was much more experienced said that solid shot was very beginner unfriendly because I loved the Comet, Centurion, and Spitfires. It just sucks that Britain never feels up to par compared to every other nation (especially with vehicles like the Stormer).
(Edit: Britain was a fun nation to play, but it was incredibly frustrating at first. I enjoyed Britain because I felt like the underdog in each encounter, but that shouldn’t be how a nation is “balanced.”)
I don't think they're as bad as you think. I'm excluding higher tiers because I don't play it, though I can admit on paper they don't look very good. Other than that the Brits have a high skill curve and are rewarding if you're good at the game. Think that's a bit of a compounding issue because it chases away the newer players to go play Russia or Germany leaving the more experienced players to play Britain. Thus artificially reducing the statistical performance of Russian and German vehicles while increase the on paper performance of the British vehicles. It's a fault in how Gaijin balances the vehicles in a game they don't actually understand or play.
@@viktoriyaserebryakov2755 that’s totally fair. I was stubborn and still played Britain before realizing that there was a difference between solid shot and APHE. I spaded almost every vehicle up to the second of the Challenger 2s, and I agree that Britain can be very good at lower tiers. 6.7 used to be my favorite tier to play ground realistic because I would have my top end spitfires along with the 20 pdr guns, but they changed that lineup if I’m correct.
I think my issue lies in top tier where the Challengers and Phantoms can’t keep up with their American, German, and Russian counterparts (I stopped playing before F16 came out).

As for the top tier mobility issue, I think that's a map and gameplay issue. Challenger is a good tank, and that mobility factor is not nearly as important in real life. The way War Thunder makes you play however makes that a necessity. So I really don't know how that could be balanced without essentially solving how top tier plays in general, which is another glaring issue in of itself that we know is never going to be fixed. Current meta just favours laser gun go kart gameplay and I don't think that's going to change.

I put a large part of this down to most people not knowing British military history (outside of the enthusiasts), So like the British fleet in the Pacific or the ground forces in Korea they are often overlooked.
If you look hard enough you can find us anywhere in history after the 1700s.
Add all the lend lease vehicles the UK used and we will have the biggest tree in the game. Id love to see britain become the major it deaerves to be

If you don't believe Gaijin HATES the Brits I have one word for you....Sparkspano. When I started way back in 2015 one of the first WT specific terms I learned was Sparkspano, it was true then and in 2023? Still true, especially when compared to other nations 20mm like the 151 and AN/M2.
adjust your lead, sparks are a sign that your client is registering a hit but the server isnt. when i learnt this i adjusted my lead just a bit when i see sparks and now i never spark. Hispano ave now been my favourite most reliable air cannon in the game for 10 years or so.

I also have this happen with Hispanos, you connect get the hit message, sometimes a 'crit' but you just need to keep hitting them to down the plane, but I switch to America and THOSE cannons absolutely take planes apart.

That’s mainly because the Tow missiles got nerfed. I can’t recall but I’m pretty sure I was experiencing nerfed missiles while using Russia.

The Desert Warrior (Warrior with a Bradley's gun) wouldn't even be that much better. But it's better than the unstablised 80 RPM we currently have, only 0.3 below the BMP-2.

the other problem with Britain is that in real life, penetrating another tank is a kill, no matter the damage to the crew. in the game you're not dead until most your crew are. solid shot simply can compete with APHE. but Gajin will continue to refuse to lower Britain's BR's to compensate. Its agony playing Britain atm. The other day I got 11 assists and 1 kill, and that's a common occurrence for me.
its almost always a problem of the way war thunder works and not the vehicles being bad irl, the cas problem is the same, the game is too fast paced and built in a way aa players find it very hard to counter cas, japan/italy have no armor because their terrains are alot more rocky and they require to be agile, but in war thunder maps are standardized, russian tanks are just good at the types of maps and the gameplay itself found in war thunder
Absolutely true it sucks because I want to play with the British vehicles but they have the worst shells in the game. It takes several shots to destroy an enemy unless you can ammo rack somebody and on top of that the armor is just not that great in the same sentence you get a British tank in a different country lineup and it’s a better tank. How does that even happen?

The thing with the UK in WT is its like the second child, you get what you get after the favourite gets it and even then its not great. The tech tree is constantly being hampered by missing features on vehicles (sometimes due to it being better than what the Big 3 would get at the time), or being placed at the completely wrong br. AP, SABOT and APFSDS all seem to be sub par on British tanks and HESH... well it was good and not it just doesnt work right at all, its like a smart person being kicked in the head by a horse.
When the UK does get something good its good, for all of five minutes because everyone throws their toys out of the pram to get it changed. Harrier GR.1 is a prime example of this. Yes on launch it was very op and did warrant a change, however it was up tiered and started to struggle and is now in a good place. But the thing that really ticks me off is the missiles, all you would here is SRAAMS are op nerf, but no one batted an eye at R60M's at a lower br than the GR.1, not a single toy was thrown out of the pram. Same goes for the intro of AIM-9 L's the vehicle's carrying these would stay where they are for a long time in comparison, I would say this is a problem for secondary nations in WT over not just the UK.

I think it is just Russian thing, even their military spokesman said once in a interview "if nuclear war starts, first city get nuked is London and Washington". London came before Washington and no other cities were ever mentioned.
As a new WT player, picking Britain is bittersweet. On one hand you do not get a lot of kills, not a lot of wins, getting carried by other nations and being obliterated by meta nations like the US and Germany. On the other hand, this is good because the difficulties teach you a lot about the game at low BRs, which comes in very handy once you move to the better tech trees.
genuinely, as a British main, i hate it. i play america, russia and germany sometimes and whenever i play britain at top tier it is like playing war thunder on hard mode. the APFSDS seems to act weird compared to other nations, and doesn’t spawl much, meaning your first shot doesnt always get a kill, and your armour is wear, meaning for the most part you die if you dont get the kill on the first shot.
the challenger 2’s are slower and weaker than their other nation counterparts. when you compare the challenger 2’s to any of the other nations, its the worst second only to the ariete in most stats. anything it can do, another nation does it better ie speed, hulling down, pen etc. its slow and weak with no real stand out features. on-top of this, players have been asking for a light tank tree for the longest time, with many choices of vehicles to choose from ie, the cvrt family, but gaijin decide to add a french premium puma instead, or another russian premium. its just odd.
the whole ground tech tree at 10.7+ is kinda a mess. the challenger 2f and TES are the same protection, despite the side skirts on the TES being far far thicker. its been like this for almost 2 years i believe, after it got nerfed for being “too strong” at one point in the game. while the other challenger 2’s are mostly just copy and paste vehicles that feel no better or worse to play than the last one you used, with nothing different to back it up, like a high tier atgm carrier or light tank. its just sad and boring to play when you could just play any other nation at top tier and suffer less. honestly why play britain when you could have way more fun doing the same things as germany, america, or russia and survive longer doing it. heck, even france is more enjoyable.
I remember playing the Caernarvon and Centurion Mk3 when they were first added and how they changed a few patches later...

Other problems are over tierd vehicles and mismodeled vehicles more refering ground. Challenger 2s side era isnt modeled correctly neither is the turret. The chieftains are still 8.3/8.7/9.0 when they really struggle there. And we never get good changed for uk. And as a brit main it really frustrates me. Ive kinda stepped back from the game due to these issues.
The chieftains are one of my favorites and I agree, its a tough life playing them.

A lot of the NATO vehicles are gimped, abrams, challengers, Merkava, etc, wether it’s an incorrect armor value or incorrect armor designs such as on the abrams turret ring or chobam that should be 50mm on later abrams

Literally 65% weakspot
Has an underperforming gun
Reloads FAR too slow
Has around a third of the turret traverse speed that it should
Literally has gaps in the armour (some points on the turret are 28mm. You can .50 cal it).

warthunders mechanics ensure that AP is nowhere near as effective as it should be, IRL if your in a tank and suddenly get hit even if that rounds only kills or injures one person you don't wait 5 seconds until another round hits you. who ever is shooting you has your range and can peice your armour, your getting out of that tank and quickly. you also can't repair an engine, turret traverse, transmission ect ect in combat irl so damage to any of those might also tempt you to get out of your tank. As for APHE it should create a cone of damage as all the shrapnel countines to travel forward with it's added sideways momentum from the shell exploding. your chances of hitting something important are massively increased, but in no way should a 75mm APHE round be nuking the crew and sending sharpnel into every part of the tank.
We are missing SO many ground vehicles that could easily be added. At least 3 separate light tanks that werent concepts and already have comparable vehicles in other tech trees (Scimitar, Fox, Scorpion) SPAA such as the Tracked Rapier or Starburst VML (both of which also werent concepts) alongside export vehicles like the Desert Warrior and concepts vehicles like the Warrior CSP, Stormer 30 and Stormer Air Defense to name but a few (all of which are just as viable for addition as concepts like the HSTV-L or 2S38).

8:26 I distinctly remember this being or at least also being what happened when Sweden was added to the game, They did some apds rework that iirc made guns over 76mm better while lowering the effectiveness of guns below that (to accommodate the shiny new Swedish reserve tanks with apds). I think that was the rework that catapulted the 6.7 holy trinity up to 7.3.
Face it UK has the biggest naval fleet, up to 60 BB and BC, 11 BC WW1 over 40 BB, plus over 200 destroyers, 80 cruisers, WW1 only, in this game, they put them in, lol, mean HMS warspite alone would piss all over entire Soviet navy for WW2.
UK had the biggest fleet up until chad America upsized its fleets to over 6000 vessels in ww2 iirc, all in all, gaijin is really gimping western naval (even without bringing up stuff like the Soviets getting a missile slinger in their tech tree), I really don’t get why either, they could add a bunch
I just unlocked the Challenger 2E a few days ago and I really cannot be bothered grinding another underperforming challenger whilst facing T-80BVMs, The rest of the ground tree is decent and the air tree is great though
I'm right there with you. I thought it would be better after I got the top APFSDS in the Challeys, but nope! Challeys still play pixel hunt the weak point while T-80s are just a point and click...
Then the 2Es whole thing supposedly being its more mobile. Sure more mobile that the OTHER Challeys but its still slow AF next to all the other MBTs.
I've got 4 challey 2 tanks and they don't get any more fun. I'd rather play the one at least it somewhat competes.

On top of that it's at the end of the tree so all its upgrades cost way more RP so its spading grind is even longer than the others.

As a British main with only rank VI-V after 2 years with well over 1000 kills I must admit there’s a comfort in how fucked we are by Gaijin, in the dog fights and on ground the amount of skill it takes to stay on top and get those kills means even when I find myself losing more than I win I know every close loss I had was by my skill alone and not a dependence suckling off the meta teat. And it takes a true British spirit of pig headed stubbornness to Keep Calm and Carry On. Truly holds onto the same spirit of our grandparents to just keep pushing through. We may be shat on but that keeps me holding my British pride

the fact that the harrier gr1 doesn't have flares and the Lancaster doesn't have the grand slam bomb because it would be "unrealistic" or "unfair" but then go off and give the soviet tree prototypes like the yak 141 and portray them as if they were in service and give the pe-8 the fab 5000 when it was used "infrequently" in real life while the Lancaster used the grand slam 42 times in 2 years really pisses me off

At the moment I can't see why anyone would want to grind the British ground tech tree, unless they are wildly nationalistic or a masochist. Before you had a sprinkling of decent tanks to keep you going until you reached the Centurion(s) at 6.7. That was the sweet spot for the British ground forces. Something to aim for and a reasonably easy to reach goal before you carried on to the top. Since the changes to APDS (post-pen nerfed again, unrealistic shell-shatter and weird RNG mechanics which makes things like the fenders on a T-34 randomly impervious to everything) and the BR raise to 7.7, they are hopelessly outclassed 90% of the time due to near constant up tiers. The Chieftain's L11 seems to suffer the same APDS nerfs that the 20lb and L7 do, so they're now just a slow moving target too. Ditto the Conqueror. While the Challengers et al are reasonable, they aren't as potent as equivalent MBTS in game, so you don't even have the pay off of that. Right now British ground is so broken in WT that I've basically given up on them.
I think one thing that exaggerated the issues with Britain is our tendency to produce non standard pieces of military equipment. We were very early adopters of sabot ammunition which gajin model awfully at low calibers, we didn't bother with He filler because it wasn't that effective and our newest tanks weren't designed to go toe to toe with the most advanced T-90s because we knew we'd never face them but were instead designed to fight large amounts of cheaper t-55s and t-72s as well as insurgency warfare.

Swift F.7 I would probably rate in the Top 10 for Most Overpowered Planes in the British Tech Tree. The missiles it gets can not be countered by flare and can even deal with the strongest head-on jets even at top tier.

For me, Britain was the best nation for tier 1. I was getting 10 kills. The only thing tho I was scared of was panzers, especially from a far distance
My friend started playing WT shortly after French ground was added. At this time many ppl talked about how British and French vehicles were pretty fun and he took the bait. Many years later i often make fun of him for choosing British tree as his main. Although can't deny that gems like Vickers MK.7 exists, the grind to top tier was quite for painful for him and he doesn't even want to touch Challengers 2 just because he doesn't want to fight 2A6s/2A5s, BVMs, Ka-50s/52s, MiG-27Ks and many more much more competitive vehicles
My gripe is that Britian since he doesn't have a lot of players they can't really hold back the wave of "Bitchy German mains" when it comes to nerfing Germans counters...aka anything UK related, as one of the largest Pros the UK got was their early access to APDS and Dual Plane stablizers, which Gaijin bumped up everything with APDS up some tiers...well what I mean by that is all of the UK went up 1-2 Braquets but everyone else stayed the same, so the FV4202/Rhino/AVRE/Ratel90/attacker Mk1/2 doesn't work as the 4202 has been bumped up to 7.3. Along with the 7.3 and 7.7 lineups going up too, not to mention their ground RB Premium lineup (Khalid and Rooikat 105) going from 8.7 to 9.0 to 9.3 in less than 6 months, so they're a lot less competitive now.... all of this because german mains (and by proxy Russian) couldn't handle a single tech tree having the ability to go through armor well, that's their Gimic, Dunking on armor... now they can't do that as well.

I've been playing the VFM5 at 9.3 at 11.7 because of the insane speed and pen once fully upgraded, I hated that all matches became a rush for Germans and Russians to spawn camp, instead I 'rush' to camp my own side of the map to pick off the Leo and T80 zerg. I resent having 7mm machine guns at the later tank tiers or what they've done to the Stormer that's only effective at specific range and only if the missile doesn't phase through a plane, I resent being passed at mach1 in my Harrier or having my Hood being ammo racked 10 seconds into a match from AI. The grievances are only reinforced when you swap nations and clean up in pretty much every match, playing Russia or Germany after maining Britain for so long is hilarious fire and forget carnage.
The good vehicles either got uptiered to irrelevance or have repair costs through the roof.
The starting meteor mk3 has an absolutely insane repair cost because it’s a really good fighter and they realised they can’t uptier it any further - this basically ended up softlocking and bankrupting me because I was a newbie to jet combat, learning the ropes, and I could only learn it using this white elephant of a plane
A lot of them just cannot compete at the BRs they’re stuck at like I remember also being stuck on the venom because I was fighting like mig 15s and sabres
As much as the brits are in a weird place its still been my favourite tree to grind, now hesh seems to be somewhat fixed the fv4 is great fun, the g6 the concept 3 all vehicles that at the start if playing i would never have touched. But i found a fun part of the tree to grind and spade
For me is some planes/tanks that were never put into the game, like the bomber version of mosquito, or some improves like the 20 mm cannom on the centurion mk1
I'm amazed Britain isn't considered a major, for that matter i'm amazed France isn't considered a major. Even to this day those two countries are massive in the arms and aviation industries, far more so than a country like Russia which hasn't really done anything since 1990 or even Germany which fell off after WW2 for decades

I would argue giving the M16 SPAA to France. They historically had and used them. They had several hundred that remained in service long after ww2. It's copy/paste, so it shouldn't be hard to do. And while France may already have spaa at the same B.R, those 4 .50 cals are versatile enough to put in almost any lineup
France could get the FCM 12T S232, its built on a prototype amx-13 chassis and has 4x mg151's in an enclosed turret

Gaijin is Russian. Remember that. every tech tree in that video game exists to serve as target practice for the Russian tech tree. Why? because the majority of paying customers are Russian. Doesn't matter if their HQ is in Hungary; that's like judging Wargaming because their assets are mostly in Cyprus. Both companies started in Russia. Both have Russian bias for that simple reason.

You forgot to mention that GB is the only nation that doesn't have anything competitive in top tier jets. Lightning F.6 (at BR 9.3) is probably the last good jet for GB because Phantoms are nothing special and Tornado is terrible.

Never got why Gaijin doesn’t play up the British as a “major nation” specifically for naval. I’m American and when I think about the UK’s military the first thing that comes to mind is the Royal Navy and historically they have put more money/effort into the navy (for good reason) so you would think they would be up there with the US in Naval.
Agreed I’m most situations as a challenger 2 player I somehow get one shotted even when facing my opponents head on despite having more armor and yet it takes me several rounds just to do minor damage, as for the rest I find that things like the Churchill, Matilda and Cromwell tend to do well, but apart from that most of the other tanks tend to be either meh or urg, naval wise I also agree, British warships have a decent rate of fire and speed and if dealing with any other lower BR can do reasonably well, anything higher and they just get ripped to shreds, plane wise the spitfires and hurricanes tend to be the best along with the barriers but British aircraft’s tend to have terrible Turing radius’s as well as prone to blacking out more easier that the other factions
Gaijin: oh russian anti air seems to be lacking(totally not because the players are braindead) *adds 5 unasked for anti including the ridiculous pantsir and nerfs all other AA of other nations*, oh russian tanks seem to perform bad? Lets add a shit ton of them to top tier making their already huge lineup even bigger and oh they seem to die to dm53? I play mainly France. I like how their tanks look like (most of them), I like that they are underdogs, I LOVE magazines (7.7 french are great for AI assault game mode). BUT... the repair cost was awful, they miss stabilizers till 8.3, their shells lack explosive fillings. They are fillers like british. And they lack 10.0/10.3. premium. Thus, the grinding with french vehicles is a real struggle. Plus, I hate how many foreign vehicles french have (especially aircraft and low tier vehicles). So yeah, I get you with british and I would love to see some love from Gaijin for Britain and France.
I wont lie, there is alot of corruption in the British war industry, our soldiers are strong, our officers are at lest ok but the stuff we make for them? Often trash, defective, hard to maintain, picked so some one some where can get a kick back, ect.
Not saying the issue is always the same, but i'm just saying there is always an issue with british tanks, first it was complacency, then it was fast solutions, then we made the Centurion and everyone was happy, then after that it was growing ammounts of corruption until current day.
