This worked great! I just purchased 2 Ubiquity Unifi6 U6 Lite and I was not ready to purchase their dream machine. I set up the access points (with the $8 Poe adapters from ubiquity) and they connected without issue. I did have to scan the QR code as they were not recognized right away in the app. Currently using the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 as a router to wire the access points into. I am not an IT nor network person in the least so this helped out a ton. thanks

Hello! Thank you for walking us through the standalone set up process. It was really helpful. I do however am a bit unclear about few things. Does the router and the standalone AP show up as a single SSID? I can imagine it can get bit confusing to choose one from the other if they show up as 2 SSIDs with the same name.
If they do show up as a single SSID, how is the hand-off experience between the router and the standalone AP in 2 different locations if a client for example is either an iPhone or a MacBook?

Question, must you start with an ap set back to factory settings ? And is the standalone set up always mean you must connect to existing router wifi and same password as opposed to creating another set? In my case I want the router to broadcast as well as the newly adding standalone ap. Because it can’t be meshed, should you have the Ap name broadcasting the same name as the router wifi? Or doesn’t it matter when you go from room to room and pick up the best signal? Thank you, sorry for so many questions

I have watched so many videos and for some reason I cannot set up my AP and it won’t recognize the device whether it’s plugged directly in or with a Poe injector

Can you do a video on how I can setup up multiple unifi APs on an Omada 3 in 1 controller/switch/router please?

I use netgear ProSafe POE switches + regular ISP wireless router. Should this work and can I use the unify u6 as a 2nd wireless AP with the same SSID names as my regular wireless router

Yes as long as the IP address is correct and the same SSID

Great video thanks. just one question, I assume the unifi access point is connected by ethernet cable/wifi?

Thank you 🙏🏽 Yes I didn’t mention that part. It is connect via a poe injector to my ISP router

Nice video. So what option do you recommend. The option is presents with more option and control is that requiring a controller? If set as stand alone do they roam, I never found mesh worked.

Thanks. If you want more greater control over the access points then yes you would need a controller to adopt them. I only had one to set up so couldn’t comment on roaming without doing some further tests. My guess is the average user wouldn’t notice between access points. There is no mesh option for a standalone set up.

Please do you have an idea if the standalone unifi access point will support guest policy and voucher codes.
Secondly in case the unifi controller on the PC goes off and it comes back on again will there be changes in the settings

You can’t do guest policies on a standalone access point. If you have a controller running on a pc and it goes off the guess portal will not be reachable however, once it comes back online it will be reachable again.

    Hello
Please could you enlighten me how the setup is done
    1. Do you connect the Unifi access point PoE Lan port to any wireless router Lan port.
Example like connecting it to Lan 1 of the Wireless router while you connect Lan 2 for your PC and install the Unifi controller. Will this setup work or not?

You would need to connect it to the main router. Yes you could connect the WiFi access point to port 1 and your computer to port 2.
