      Diana seems to be pissy about interview questions ....wonder if she does it on purpose or just her personality. I’ve heard her insult Sam and try to make a joke of it. Weird weird.

    I think it's rude of that interviewer lady to express curiosity about what's under Sam's skirt, while she doesn't even know him. Like bordering sexual intimidation. If anyone asked that of a lady they would think it's rude, men have feelings too!

    • @clothilde1623

      Skirt? SKIRT? As a Scot I may be precious, but a kilt is not a skirt!
      I do agree with you though. Were it a man asking those questions of a woman people would be in uproar, and quite rightly so. Show some respect!

      Gayle comes across in this interview as an absolute idiot if you ask me. The whole thing is pretty uncomfortable, and I love that Diana Gabaldon is a bit short or seemingly irritated with some of the questions. No you can’t compare Game of Thrones to Outlander! They are Both great shows but thats as far as similarities go. Don’t even get me started about Gayle bringing up what under Sams kilt.... how unprofessional and inappropriate.

      Clara Andriessen I cringed when she did that. Yes it was very inappropriate and if the roles had been reversed, the actor a woman and the interviewer a man, they would probably have gotten complaints.

    The thing I found most fascinating about the Gabeldon books is the science of early health as it is compared to contemporary healthcare in her stories, and I NEVER hear anyone ask the author about this aspect of her writing. To me it's one of the biggest parts of her story.

      +Kaylin Lambert God, I thought I was the only one! And this is not the first time that Sam has been asked this. I don't know why female interviewers think it's ok to say that. If it was a male interviewer saying "I can't see under the dress when I'm at home" there would be complete uproar. It's not ok to say it to women, it's not ok to say it to a man. It's sexual harassment.

    Gayle didn’t even pronounce Caitriona’s name correctly the first two times she says it. I’m very unimpressed with her in general. I also agree with another commenter that she should never nave brought up what is or isn’t under the kilt. Very unprofessional. This interview and the three people doing it failed miserably. 👎 Diana Gabaldon seems somewhat irritated with some of their questions, and I find that hilarious.

    This series is beyond words!!! I´ve just watched some episodes from season 1 and from the very first I became a staunch fan. I don´t know if I will ever be able to read the novel´s volumes , as I have too many reading prioritities in line. Anyway, I often prefer the dramatization of novels than the written works themselves, which, I consider more as starting points for the dramatization pieces, which can have endless and varied versions to be enjoyed in differetn decades by different actors, approaches, etc. However, I intend to make a posting on my edublogs about the series and this author, after reading some good articles on her work. From what I´ve seen so far in the series, she is incredibly gifted in my opinion, and I guess the written work must be even more substantial in many aspects.

    Game of thrones made it as a series because sci-fi fans don't care if something is completely non-historical and more disney than reality.
    6 years after this cbs show it turns out that The Last Kingdom has been as faithful to Bernard Cornwell's fiction series as fiction to TV can be.
    Outlander is spectacular none-the-less.

    I don't agree with the comment of that The Game Of Thrones had anything to do with the launch of this Outlander, TV Show, I am convinced that the actors have so much to do with the success of the story. I did not watch the Game of Thrones, because the first episode just made me sick, it was not my taste - But these stories episodes that captivates my heart, my imagination my desires and its a noble culture of men who make love to their land as to their women. Its, the Jamie character and Murtah that gets the skin spikes of emotions. Eye- I the love of the (Scottish Gaelic) unknown and yet the ancient preserved language its a mystery. If we were to attribute some influence, I'll say the J.K Rolling Trip in the 3/4 train for the Young Schoolers of Hogwarts in Harry Potter did the historic act of captivating the eyes. Ron Weasley whole definition of Scottish descendants...noble, sexy, manly, playful, lover, etc...I want to say. That my mind and my body are processing the stories of the Outlander. This really reminds me of The Current Queen Elizabeth of England. Who had been a nurse in the Great World War and Great Lady who was not at all weak- but Strong Minded and Hands down for her country and her people. So, Only Actions speak for the truth. I enjoy Outlander.

    • @susansisson366
      @susansisson366 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Queen Elizabeth did not serve as a nurse in WWII. She was part of the motor pool brigade that repaired and serviced trucks for the ambulance service, a necessary and quite humble position, for which she received great respect and admiration from the working classes as well as the public at large.

    Diana Gabaldon reminds me of George RR Martin in the way she talks. Their voices are a little bit croaky and even the laugh is similar.

    Who is the grumpy old man on the interviewing team? He's sitting there with his arms crossed like this whole thing isn't worth his time, which is completely annoying. He didn't ask a single question. I'm not saying that an interviewer/reporter should enjoy the interviews he conducts, but this guy could be a bit more engaging.

    That question about what is under Sam's kilt is so embarassing. Even I felt uncomfortable. I feel sorry for Sam who had to give an answer to that. If it is the other way round, I mean a man asking something similar to a woman they wouldn't even consider a question like that. I think there should be the same level of respect for both sides

    Caitriona Balfe's name is pronounced "cuh tree nuh" -- I never nit pick these type of interview mistakes but you just think that the interviewer would have done enough research and commitment to be able to pronounce this actors name correctly. Seems unprofessional.

    • @clothilde1623
      @clothilde1623 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I agree completely. Any interviewer should know how to pronounce the name of their interviewee - it's interview 101. So unprofessional and disrespectful to get their name wrong. Bah!

      @Sam Roland Heughan Eight years later and the world is still in love with the love story that carries over from one book to the next. Of course the two protagonists have a lot to do with it.
      When the day after watching an episode you ask your friend: "Have you heard what happened to Claire and Jamie?" as if it had been on the news; that's when you know you are watching something powerful.

    • @JaguarStar999
      @JaguarStar999 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't wanna sound like a bitch, but this actor is not hot as himself. There are actors who are very charismatic, and they are lucky enough to play iconic characters that make them loved by many....and there are other actors who are not so charismatic themselves, but they are loved because of their amazing characters. The guy who plays Jamie belongs to the second category in my opinion.

Diana seems sooo annoyed. Like, do some research for this kind of interview. LOL.

    The whole Doctor Who thing is strange. "TheHighlanders" the episode she refers to, hasn't existed since at least the 70's as all copies of the story where destroyed. So if she wrote the book after seeing it in the 90's she could tell the BBC where she saw it, so it could be returned to the archives.
