Testing and Tasting Integration in Germany | Obada Alhalabi | TEDxUniHeidelberg

As an international medical student, Obada Alhalabi experienced the highs and lows of integration into
the German society and university life. Obada exemplifies how turning challenges into opportunities by doubting existing paradigms and turning them into key motivation drivers can lead to successful integration while still maintaining one's personality and individualism. Born in Kuwait to Syrian parents, Obada Alhalabi moved to Germany when he was 17 to study medicine. With extensive extracurriculars, Obada managed to achieve academic success, received the DAAD award for international students, took part in initiatives that help integrate his peer international students, and was proactive in refugee aid.
