What I find funny is you're showing how the stock amp sim can be used by replacing it with expensive processing on top of it. It'd be more impressive to see it done completely with stock plugins. Hell even the IR could be from logics reverb, there is a small selection of cabinets if you look for them.

Yeah I’ve never been a fan of the cabs in the Amp Designer. Thanks for the comment though, I hadn’t really thought about using the IRs in space designer so that’s a great idea! I’ll make a part 2 to this video and keep it all completely stock or free - thanks for the video idea dude!

I use the stock Amp Designer amps and cabs almost exclusively. I don’t get the types of bad tones he’s getting. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I actually use the stock amps 95% of the time. And they don’t sound like they do in your example. I find for a good all around Marshall tone the “Old School Punk” preset is a great starting point.
I will say soloed they don’t always sound great, but in the mix they do.
I have the free amp sim you used. I don’t get better results with it. I also have other IRs and still mostly use the stock cab.
I found it odd in this or the other video that you run the double tracked guitars as one track through the one amp. I always leave them serrated and usually use two different amps or different settings on each.
But we all have our own ways to do things, and you’re getting good results.
For other plugins and EQ, I’m mostly using the stock plugins. I have the Saturn plugin (and the other FabFilter stuff), but usually use the free Saturation Knob from Softube. Another cool saturation trick is to use the stock tape delay plugin, set the mix to full, delay to zero, and adjust the character control. For an added bonus set the delay to a short time, set the mix about 59/50, and use the modulation for tape flanging.
I find the stock plugins to be much more powerful than they get credit for (and I stopped using Waves stuff years ago).

Very cool. Can't wait to get back to my guitar and try this out!

Pssst. You. can do this with bussing the direct line to multiple busses with different cabinets on them.

Sometimes taking an approach that you’d do in a real life studio can be useful for guitars (and any instrument really) in terms of getting tone as right as you can before recording. Particularly amp and guitar settings, as well as experimenting with different microphones. Then you generally don’t need to make so many eq cuts later on (which in my experience the guitarist and engineer will try and murder you for!).
