I’ve shot 99% of my videos on my iPhone because I definitely prefer being discreet and love the portability but I’m wanting to up the game a little and get better. Scooped this up. Pumped to give it a go 🤙🏻
Great thoughts. My grandfather use to record all the time with a vhs-c Panasonic video camera. Every birthday, family gathering or rain storm. lol. I ultimately converted all those memories to digital format. Had he not recorded all those years we wouldn’t be able to look back. Phones are okay but they are a distraction. I picked up the dji osmo pocket 3 recently. I’m going to try to do a better job of documenting my life and creating more videos. Keep up the great work brother!
I just filmed 3 days at SEMA in Vegas with a dji osmo action plugged into a battery pack using wireless mics. I’m selling it all to get this new camera.
The main advantage of 32 bit float audio is that it's much harder to mess up your recording levels. It will basically not ever record the audio too "hot" and distort, and if the audio is too quiet, boosting it is less noisy.
Excellent review. I ordered one of these last week to start my video adventure, after decades as a stills photographer. You really conveyed the incredible power and versatility packed into this tiny rig, and contrasting with your “small” gimbal rig really makes the point in terms of both size and cost. For the beginner videographer, I can see this outfit going a very long way for a much smaller price. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for checking out the video! The convenience of pocketing this camera as opposed to carrying around a full size gimbal can't be overstated...it's incredible!
I don’t understand why you don’t have a lot more followers. What an awesome video. And you gave me enough information to be able to go out and buy the pocket three with total confidence👍
I just ordered the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 as a painter/illustrator who wants to film myself painting on-the-go. One of the biggest issues I had with my larger cameras like my A7C is that the prime lenses were so big, and I already had so much gear with me (canvases, easels, paintbrushes). I realized once I got my A7C that it was no way for an artist to film their work. I totally agree that this would be a great camera to document your own life! Thanks so much for this review. I can't wait to try out my Pocket 3 once it arrives.
I'm definitely going to use this to film myself doing some work as well! The Active Track is a key feature for this type of thing. Hope you have fun with it and make great memories!

Well… after looking at all (many) videos on this topic, i think action 4 is a better buy. Many reasons… better battery life, easier to put on bikes and cars etc, no fear of breaking stuff, no learning curve as compared to the gimbal, and more. Not to forget, the price. Pocket 3 is excellent but… ☝️ 😊
Definitely not a wrong choice between the two. I will say though, there's not a learning curve using this gimbal compared to a full size one. It just...works!
Awesome camera. I just bought it for my upcoming vacation. Unfortunately I can't get the ND filters in time. But I will work it out with the dlog and color grading later.
Literally the day after I order the Sony zv-1 ii I start seeing all the Pocket 3 reviews. I'm like you - I'll do my best to hold out... then a few days later I just bite the bullet and order it 😂
Maybe there is someone here who can help me. I bought Pocket 1 when it came out. I took a lot of good shots with it, but it wasn't enough for me. Due to my job, we often need to shoot in low-light environments. These are mostly festivals, nightclubs and such events. The iPhone always looked much better in this regard. What do you think about Pocket 3? Do you think it is worth buying for me?
The low light performance of this camera is much improved from previous models. I myself have not tested it against an iPhone, but the mechanical stabilization will certainly benefit you in lowlight more than an iPhone's digital stabilization.
Well, I do love your videos. I don’t agree with your thumbnail Too many people are filming their lives, and their lives are way too boring to appreciate and be entertained. Lol thank you for the vid! I can relate to most of your comments!

You know what, I can't really disagree with you on any of that. Walking around a rocky area like Red Rock Canyon, I found myself holding on to the Pocket 3 a lot tighter than I would an action camera. But the active track ability of the Pocket 3 is certainly a differentiator that I really enjoy. Both options are great, and in a perfect world I'd take out both!
Amazing review & just subscribed! Everything looked cinematic. Could you please share how you got those colors? Was it in full auto mode? Did you change any settings? Any color grading in post? If you could share it would be amazing! 😃🙌🏼

I’ve yet to find an answer to this, but if you already own and use the DJI mics, are those compatible with this or just the new mic that specifically comes with the Osmo 3?
They are compatible! The new receiver inside the Pocket 3 doesn’t work with them, so you have to plug the receiver into one of the USB-C ports on the device. But it works!
@@danvirchowAwesome! Thank you for the info! ONE more question if you know the answer: the new included mic, can you get a second and have them both work at the same time? Great video and your response here ensured we are getting one!
@@Pikaroth the only current way to get two DJI Mic 2s is to have two Pocket 3s. I’m sure they will offer standalone purchases of the new mic soon. I’ve seen videos where people seemlessly connect two of the new mics to one Pocket 3!
Cool video, but even in your material you can tell it does something weird to the the hue of the sky. For whatever reason it always makes it fall into weird teal. Not sure I like it, but otherwise - much like you say - it's a phenomenal piece of kit!
How do you like the time-lapse amd hyperlaps capability? Take it it can record in those modes continuously of needed for a couple of hours. I am looking at using it for time-lapse videos of my embroidery machine that have good quality. Rigth now i use my F20fe, but want something better for tutorials as well. And wondering if the pocket 3 can fill that. Thanks for any insight you can provide.
@@danvirchow Thank you for your reply. this is a couple of the types' of videos I plan to do, as well as product reviews ( embroidery equipment) so was wondering if the pocket 3 would be best for the videos I want to do. some have suggested an action cam, but I don't think I would get the nice details. I held out about 10 days, just ordered this morning 😅 Any reason why this wouldn't be a good studio camera for TH-cam vids? I suppose you'll get shallower depth of field and a sharper image with an interchangeable lens camera but it seems to me that camera-focused tech TH-camrs are the one's who split hairs about such things most. The ease of use and almost immediate setup with the Osmo trumps many other considerations.
I’m wanting this camera to help me grow my business through the various social media reels/shorts videos. I was originally wanting to hold out and keep using my iPhone/go pro, but the auto track feature and mic have sold me on it. Btw, what location is that you’re at? Sort of looks like west Texas
It looks so tiny yet so much potential with film making. Would you recommend it for someone who live stream (gaming) or recording fb/insta reels' footages on a daily basis?
I haven’t been able to test the two against each other but many other reviews seem to think the advantages of the Pocket 3 outweigh those of the new iPhone.
Thank you! This was shot in D-Log M and I color graded it with a Gamut base lut and one of their creative luts called “Kinetic 01”. I’ve found that their luts are 🤌🏼
Hello, i have a concern regarding this product, i am thinking of buying it, but i am told that the 4k footage might not work with macbook air. I won't be able to edit it. Is that true? If it is then i don't think i can go for it. Please help.😢
I have been using a M1 MacBook Pro to edit the footage. Absolutely no problem here! I'm not sure how old your computer is or what the specs are, but your computer should be powerful enough to handle this footage without issue.
I would use this cam for TikTok, but the audio is not the greatest. Using their dedicated mic is okay, but since I do acting on TT, I don't like to be with a mic in those vids.

So how is the zoom on this can you make really close up cinematic shots or is it just more of a wide angle vlog camera
It has a 2x zoom that doesn't add much length, but it also doesn't sacrifice much quality. I haven't used that feature much yet, so stay tuned!
Amazing review bro
Thank you, appreciate it!
Cool video, but even in your material you can tell it does something weird to the the hue of the sky. For whatever reason it always makes it fall into weird teal. Not sure I like it, but otherwise - much like you say - it's a phenomenal piece of kit!
I color graded this, so that may have been the teal you saw!
I really dig the motion lapse feature! I’m not sure how long you can make them as I’ve only used the 10 minute mode thus far.
I just don't want to have issues with constant auto focus tryth-cam.com/users/shortsbFOkV5F1iMs?feature=shareing to adjust.

This would absolutely work as a studio camera, and the mic makes it a complete package. I’ll definitely be using this in some studio environments!
I’m wanting this camera to help me grow my business through the various social media reels/shorts videos. I was originally wanting to hold out and keep using my iPhone/go pro, but the auto track feature and mic have sold me on it. Btw, what location is that you’re at? Sort of looks like west Texas
This was shot at Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas. I'd say get the camera!
I’m probably succumb this time on buying a camera
Hard not to 🫣
It looks so tiny yet so much potential with film making. Would you recommend it for someone who live stream (gaming) or recording fb/insta reels' footages on a daily basis?
I would! I've seen some people post videos testing its live stream abilities. It's more than enough when it comes to shooting Reels.
Is it Better than iPhone 15 pro max?
I haven’t been able to test the two against each other but many other reviews seem to think the advantages of the Pocket 3 outweigh those of the new iPhone.
What sling bag r u rocking with?
This bag rocks! amzn.to/3G6fwVp
Nice review bro😊
Thank you!
Did you film in d log ??? 😊 if yes could you please share your luts / coversion luts etc ?
I did! I used Gamut lots to grade this footage. Here's a link! gamut.io/product-category/conversion-luts/
did you color grade or is it straight out of the camera? 😊
This is color graded. I used Gamut. Base lut then creative lut. I like the results!
Can you use two Dji mics with this, it would be great for interviews.
You can! The original DJI Mics will work with this is you connect the receiver. Also, it has a built in receiver for 2 DJI Mic 2s.
Thanks, I’m thinking about picking a pocket 3 up and do away with with om 5 gimbal
Did you use an ND filter ?
This video was without ND filters. I'll have some arriving this weekend and will test them out!
Awesome video. Is this natural color or have you graded it?
Thank you! This was shot in D-Log M and I color graded it with a Gamut base lut and one of their creative luts called “Kinetic 01”. I’ve found that their luts are 🤌🏼
Are they available for free?
@@jawadbhuri434 nope, they have to be purchased. Worth it!
Do you edit much colour wise?
I added a base lut and creative lut to this footage.
This will not replace a camera rig for a documentary.
Certainly not. But a nice option for quality discreet footage.
I want one but don’t need it…. Do you find it over exposing in full auto
I haven’t really noticed too much over exposing in my use cases, but I have seen others say it’s an issue for them. Nothing some comp can’t fix!
Where were you in the desert location?
Red Rock Canyon
Beautiful use of sound effects. 🤌

I would use this cam for TikTok, but the audio is not the greatest. Using their dedicated mic is okay, but since I do acting on TT, I don't like to be with a mic in those vids.
You can plug a lav mic into the DJI Mic 2. That could help with keeping it discreet!
Location you shot in is beautiful. Where is it? Edit here: I just saw it is in Red Rock Canyon! Nice video 👍🏼
Red Rock is amazing!
people are still using the mic the wrong way around.. the magnet is supposed to be on the outside and the mic hidden inside your clothes..
I usually use a lav mic with a setup like this, but just tossed it on this way for convenience.
We saw you almost trip
🫣
You’re so pretty I could watch 10 more videos of you talking about the pocket 3
More coming soon!
Yasss! 😍@@danvirchow
that hat is ridiculous
I love hats.
Only if the camera holds film.
Well 😅
I subscribed because you deserve it but also to get you off the 666 count…that can’t be good luck.
😂😂 thanks for looking out for me! Appreciate the sub 🙏🏼
