I tried testing this by shorting out the wires at the connector. My alarm still goes off. Could this also be one of the doors? I wish I would get a hood/door ajar alert to make this easier lol.
This is an excellent "How to" video. I have one complaint however: I personally found the background music annoying and uneccessary. I wish there was an option to disable it - I need info, not music. But still a great vid.
This? www.amazon.com/Genuine-Land-Rover-Latch-Switch/dp/B01BTIC8D8 . If you're talking about what the sensor PLUGS into, that's tough, I don't think I know what that's called 🙁. I can take a picture of it if you need
@@Aalsayyed I checked the repair manual and it doesn't say. It looks like it's wired into a much larger harness that spans the entire front of the engine bay.
If you disconnect the sensor the car will think the hood is always OPEN, so you would need to disconnect and splice the wires together if you want to go that route. I'd just get a new sensor at that point.
@@HazyJay Thanks for that. I've already saved a fortune watching your videos very clear to understand. I've changed my compressor and prop shaft. Going to do the thermostat next and bonnet catch . I was hoping you might do a video on changing the starter motor soon .
@@jameskeep2727 Thanks for watching, I actually just replaced the alternator and was looking at the starter like, huh I'm surprised I never needed to change this. That usually means it's going to fail soon haha.
Hey hazy I have range rover Westminster 2011 with alarm issues where by locking the car after some few minutes the alarm goes and also draining the battery
Uh oh, nope I've never had that issue but it seems like the cable has disconnected or the latch is broken. I'm not sure of your options but maybe it's possible to shim it open.

WHY DO YOU CALL, SCREWS, BOLTS! to be a bolt, it needs a nut, otherwise, good vid, my alarm did not trigger, but message said, bonnet open, eventually, I raised the catches right up and problem solved, it is very uncommon for micro switches to fail, this is the same micro style as on the jacobs eng brakes and they come on n off 100000's times a year
You are right they are technically screws because they're driven from a central drive rather than from being turned from outside the head, idk why I was saying bolts lol
Bro this was the easiest to follow and straight to the point car repair tutorial ive seen. Great work.
If you scribe around the latch and backing plate before removal, it will make reinstallation much easier.
I had this issue on my 2015 LR4, this video was spot on. Fixed my problem. Thanks.
Thank you for these videos. Range Rover timing cover replacement!

Well done!
hello sir i have lost the wire harrness for the sensor do you have the part for the socket or the wire harness i ppreciate that

Keep in mind there's only a sensor on the PASSENGER SIDE, the driver side (left) doesn't have a sensor at all.
@@HazyJay sorry i want buy a new harness is ther any way you could tell where to buy that your vedio very nice
@@Aalsayyed I checked the repair manual and it doesn't say. It looks like it's wired into a much larger harness that spans the entire front of the engine bay.
@@Aalsayyed Keep in mind if you just want the error to stop you can wire the harness wires together to bypass the sensor, this may be an option.
Appreciate your very nice video.
If I just disconnect the sensor would this stop the alarm going off or do I need to replace it ?
If you disconnect the sensor the car will think the hood is always OPEN, so you would need to disconnect and splice the wires together if you want to go that route. I'd just get a new sensor at that point.

What if you just leave the sensor out so you don't have this issue at all again
@@RIBBY_BOY you totally can but you might need to short the sensor wires together. I did that to my brake pad sensor.
Thanks for the video. I called Landrover and they told me $500 to change latch in labor. I almost question if they were messing with me
haha pretty classic of the dealer, and it would have taken a week
Hey hazy I have range rover Westminster 2011 with alarm issues where by locking the car after some few minutes the alarm goes and also draining the battery
I would check the hood latch, although the full-size range rover is a very different chassis and may not have this issue.
Every had the issue of the hood not opening?
I am unable to manually open, not even after pulling out the cable inside and pulling it
Uh oh, nope I've never had that issue but it seems like the cable has disconnected or the latch is broken. I'm not sure of your options but maybe it's possible to shim it open.
A nice video, thx!
Exactly my problem
Thank you
GREAT ONE HAZY!! NOW LETS DO PASSANGER SIDE A PILLAR NOT SITTING FLUSH AND WATER GETTING IN! LOLO THIS CLIPS ARE NOT THE BEST!
