I am twelve years old and this worked perfect as a starter for grilling
Glad the recipe was helpful! Grill on friend!
I wish my 12 year old would grill his own steaks😂
Good for you!🎉
I am 3 and a half years of age and this was the perfect intro to cooking on the grill.
Thanks. Simple yet effective!
Finally somebody who doesn't smoke it or wrap it. Similar to the way I grill it here in Cali. I like mine a little more crusty but do stand it up on edge to get flame on it. Bravo bro!
I used to cook these all the time, my grandfather taught me how. Wanted to see a different method-thank you!
How'd he do it
Dean, what was your grandfathers method?
Love cooking on a Weber. I don’t care how much technology for smokers and grills that they come up with, the Weber is perfect and there is no reason to get anything else. Also great video. I tend to do avoid direct heat and use fewer coals and just cook offset with some wood for a little smoke. I will do my next one with your technique.
For some reason. This setup is very satifying
Learning how to grill pretty much everything. Loved the video. Thanks for the info. Never had a chance to learn but doing 3 of them right now!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thank you! Nicely explained, great video quality, easy to follow instructions. I've grilled tri tip for many years, but I'm grilling my first tri tip roast today, 3-24-2024. I really like your video! Thanks again!
Thank you looks great !
Love this vid! I always come back to it as a refresher for tri-tip because it's quick and to the point! I can add my own flare and I always get lots of compliments.
Great video! Thanks
Thank you
Cooking it tonight 💯
Outstanding video! I will be grilling my first Tri-Tip tonight. . . New Year's Day 2021. Thank you.
Good luck!
And one year later I’m cooking my first tri tip for New Years as well! Funny how I came across this comment
I worked as a cook in a dinner house chain in California called Ruben’s and we served tri tip and it was on the menu as Plank Steak for two. I cooked hundreds of them. It was a poor man’s Chateaubriand. Tri Tip has always been popular in California especially Santa Marie style.
Great video I used to fear making tri tip you made it super simper and Easy! And delicious! Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
I'm from Santa Maria California Home of the tri tip. MEDIUM that's a perfect tri tip only difference is I don't need to check the temp I've been doing it so long
Just the way videos should be made
Thanks!
Great video. I'm wondering how long the tri tip needs to be grilled until crispy and then how long to leave it on the indirect side of the weber?
Thank you for making this so simple!!! Other videos are so complicated and you go lt straight to the important points
I’ve made tri-tip jerky 😋
How long did it take you to get each side that good crispy flavor
did you lower the grill temp when moving to cold side
and what was the temps on each side... sear and cold
Great video
Thanks for watching
I am pretty sure it’s your brand that I got, the Santa Maria marinated, and steakhouse marinated tri tips; were pretty good. I would buy the steak house marinated tri tip again. The Santa Maria had too much flavor penetration to have as a roast, but would make great fajitas or sandwiches
Thank you so much for your video, however, I wish you had told us for how long to cook the meat, it would be a great guide for a rookie 😁
Time truly depends on how you like your beef cooked. Rare, medium, well? Use an instant-read meat thermometer and this chart, then cook until it reaches your desired temp. Unfortunately, there's no cut and dried answer. Hope this helps: www.certifiedangusbeef.com/kitchen/doneness.php
He gives the chart on the vid you’re going to need a thermometer
@@CertifiedAngusBeefTestKitchen A ballpark would be great. We're cooking one at a cabin and have no thermometer.
I ballpark 40 mins, 180 rotate, another 40 mins
Thanks...does look dry when cutting?
Is that two tri-tips or one cut into two thinner pieces? I've never seen one that thin.
RARE!
nice contents
hope you keep update :)
We will!
When I put it on cool side I wrap it in foil. Saves the juices. But this is basically the way I do it
good idea, wish I logged on 30 minutes ago to see it Lol, I half way thru my grilling right now :)
Looks amazing!! What does “my grates are seasoned” mean?
It means they have had oil on them and seasoned so the meat doesn't stick
Tri tip coooked on grlll
Thanks for explaining why you went medium. Every other vide, the cook says 135-140 and I was thinking that is a waste of good steak.
i'm making tri tip steak fries.. this will help me..
While I realize different size roasts vary cooking times, how about some approximate times?
Go more by temperature than time. If you have the temperature probe you don't have to worry.
Surprised you forgot to add a splash of Pitsmans Mustard
Is this indoors?
Yes, the weather didn't cooperate with us but we 100% recommend grilling outside and enjoying some sunshine. We've got a full kitchen for grilling inside in our Test Kitchen.
Here is one of our favorite outdoor Test Kitchen grilling videos where we reverse-sear a tomahawk ribeye: th-cam.com/video/cTr4xNS0GPA/w-d-xo.html
👍🏽💣👌🏽
I’m I the only person who used salt pepper garlic powder and onion powder and a dash of chili powder? Everyone usually just uses salt and pepper I’ve tried it to see what’s the craze I felt I under seasoned
Naw I use stuff like that too
Tri Tip is nothing more than a steak. Salt and Pepper is all that is required. Tri Tip has so much flavor it really doesn't need a lot of season.
I always add onion and garlic as well. Sometimes a dash of Italian herb blend. And sometimes I'll use trader Joe's 21 seasoning salute. Salt and pepper only steaks are bland to me, but I don't knock people if that's what they like. Everyone's taste buds are different
Make America Grill Again!
Had to do a double take. Guy is cooking with a weber indoors under a hood.
there were no estimates of amount of times given....I dont have a thermometer
Hi Jenna, here's a handy chart to help with degrees of doneness: www.certifiedangusbeef.com/kitchen/doneness.php
Didn’t say what temp they should be at
He said when it’s 130 - 135
(fart)
Lol this is NOT the way to cook a TRI tip waste of time on this video
This guy doesn’t know what to do
What do you think we could have done better?
@@CertifiedAngusBeefTestKitchen Low and slow.
@@jtnoodle a low and slow cook is always good, but it's not a fatty ass beef brisket.
@@Ameriken91 yeah I agree, everyone in the comment section is apparently an expert because they grilled on Superbowl Sunday.
@@CertifiedAngusBeefTestKitchen Rest before slicing...
R-E-V-E-R-S-E. S-EA-R. Only way to go.
