      @Soussy 1. Papley pushed Moore
      2. That wasn’t a mark, it hit the ground, you could see on the replay because I actually watched the game
Collingwood loses by 1 point and you would think that if that goal would’ve counted Collingwood would be in a granny. Don’t get too cocky Sydney fans - you were the heavy favourites and you barely limped over the line with a big push by the umpires.

No team deserved to lose last night given the fighting spirit and courage that both sides have produced. Full credit/admiration to both sides for a great season and unfortunately the pies fell on the very last hurdle and the swans were able to hold on even though the pies made a huge comeback in the 2nd half.

Great game of football, epic finish, but ultimately the AFL has 2 best teams of the second half of the season meeting in the GF. Hopefully Sydney will take some lessons away about shutting the game down too early and throwing the game style that wins for them off balance. Reid is a huge loss.

It hurts you guys now but I have so much admiration for you club. And the Collingwood supporters where awesome even 15 minutes before the game started. They created the best atmosphere of the year. Unlike Brisbane, Collingwood refused to lay down.
Have mixed feelings about Papley pushing Moore square in the back & not being penalized - it takes a substantial push to move a big bloke like Moore, & yet the umpire ignored it - I know it evens out during the course of the game, but that push happened at an important time
Great win by Swanies regardless - hopefully they can recover fully from this thoughie & give Geelong a good match..

    • @joshuasadler9243
      @joshuasadler9243 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I literally counted 8+ free kicks related to goals for the swans and 4 for the pies. Not sure how it all really evens out. Pendlebury twice against Geelong at the end of a game not being allowed to play on unfairly losing us the match twice. Didn't even out. 2018 Maynard and there was another free in the lead up over looked. 2002 Rocca scoring the goal that the umpire paid a point, he was the only person on the ground that thought it wasn't a goal. The only one I can remember going Collingwood's way is the final in Adelaide where Jack Anthony got a late free and won after the siren. Definitely doesn't even out and it's noticeable for me in most games how umpires can control and reverse momentum. Unfortunately there's to much mental dissonance people can't see the obvious.

Tough loss. Reminds me of our 2019 prelim loss to GWS where we played shocking in the first half and managed to get the game back on our terms in the final qt but fell short. It was always going to be hard to come away with a win against a great opposition on their home turf in such a big final. I would like to stay confident and hope the pies can bounce back bigger and stronger next season, but something tells me that's not going to be the case especially with a loss like this, it's hard to take in. You have to play four quarters if your any chance of beating top teams and potentially going all the way to win the flag. I believe this was our real shot at winning the premiership. So dissapointing. I'm hoping for a close grand final on the weekend and no repeat of the shocker in 2019.

Every close game this year when the winning margin was a goal or less would if you had the benefit of watching replays, have free kicks that could be doubtful or 50/50. Yesterday's game was no different and if a team coughs up 50 metre penalties, they only have themselves to blame,,
Well done to Collingwood for their successes this year and the manner in which they have turned their Club around.
Looking forward to a great Grand Final.

And now we are down to the final two teams, Geelong and Sydney.
Sydney were dominant for much of this match, leading by thirty-six points midway through the third quarter before a mighty comeback from Collingwood fell just barely short, making this one of the greatest Preliminary Finals of all time, if not THE greatest Preliminary Final of all time.
Sydney are on very hot form, although not quite as Geelong are in terms of winning streaks, but thst doesn't mean that this won't be a cracker of a Grand Final, unless that's a blowout like the Geelong v Brisbane game. On their way to the big dance and during their eight-game winning streak, Sydney took down Fremantle at Optus Stadium back in Round 17, took down Collingwood twice at the Sydney Cricket Ground in both Round 22 and this Preliminary Final rematch and took down Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the Qualifying Final, just like they did back in Round 12. Sydney will be looking forward to this Grand Final, facing Geelong on the last Saturday in September for the first time. One more chapter remains in their story. Will it be a happy ending or a sad ending. Stay tuned for next week.
Collingwood can hold their heads up high after the greatest turnaround in the history of Australian Rules football. From 17th last year to 4th and a Preliminary Final (rematch) this year. Something that the 2011 West Coast did that year after a 16th placed finish and a wooden spoon the year prior. During that incredible run, they took down Fremantle at a wet Optus Stadium back in Round 10 and again at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the Semi Final, and Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Round 13 (from 20 points down in the third quarter) and Round 21 (from 23 points down in the second quarter). They also made more amazing comebacks against North Melbourne in Round 17 (trailed by 28 points late in the third quarter), Adelaide in Round 18 (trailed 20-0 in the first quarter before leading by as much as 16 points in the final quarter), Essendon in Round 19 (trailed by 21 points in the final quarter), Port Adelaide in Round 20 (trailed by 24 points late in the first quarter) and Carlton in Round 23 (trailed by 25 points early in the final quarter). They also had to hold off GWS in Round 15 (led by 37 points at three-quarter time). Then they lost a close one to Geelong before playing like winners against Fremantle in the Semi Final (the Pies' first win over the Dockers in Victoria since 2018) and eventually falling agonizingly short against Sydney by a solitary point. This will be a game to remember for both these teams for many years to come. The McRae Resurrection is over and after all that epicness, the Collingwood fairytale has come to a heartbreaking end. They broke so many opposition hearts over the past few months, but this time, it was their turn.
Who will emerge victorious next week and lift the Premiership Cup?
    Who wins the Grand Final?

Yes we won the Grand finals' in those years but my God wasn't this a year a great ride. I'll take the last 12 weeks of pure enjoyment which included the best highs of any season I have ever witnessed. Sydney wont be able to play the type of game they play at the SCG which favours them immensely. On the MCG Sydney will be no match for a Geelong or a Collingwood for that matter. Geelong by 5+ goals. Sydney ran out of legs on the tiny SCG they will die on the MCG.

I counted 8 goals from free kicks to the swans with 2 possibly 3 actually being there. For the pies I counted 4 with 2 possibly 3 being there. Every time the pies started finding momentum it seemed the umpires stopped it. I thought it was poor coaching from McRae in the first quarter that gave Sydney the head start but 2 of the first 4 goals were free kick related which didn't help. The pies also screwed up in the selections by sticking with Bianco when there were 2 far better options available. At the end of the day it's consistent that a bad umpiring cost the Pies. As much as all the haters would never admit it, it always happens to the point it's nearly scripted. Pendlebury against Geelong alone has lost 2 games from the advantage play on rule. Look at Maynard and Darcy Moore's track record with umpires. Now they have Ginnivan the most antagonist player ever to not actually do anything but exist. Reminds me of the WWE in a lot of ways.

Imagine you're a Gold Coast fan.
Gold Coast are 13-0 after round 14.
Then lose a game after the siren.
Then choke a 40 point lead to lose after the siren.
Then lose 6 more games after the siren.
They are playing the wooden spooners on their home deck. They have to win to make finals. They get their full team back and the wooden spooners have some big injuries.
At 3QT Gold Coast are 191 points in front, looking to win by the biggest AFL/VFL margin.
The umpiring seems very very biased towards the wooden spooners.
It's down to 100 points with 7 minutes to go.
Gold Coast mark in the goal square, the wooden spooners get a 150 metre penalty.
With 3 minutes to go, the margin is 71 points.
The wooden spooners kick 11 goals in 2 minutes 50 seconds.
    10 seconds left.
In the last second when Gold Coast has marked in the goal square, the wooden spooners get a 150 metre penalty.

Collingwood second half though was better then Sydney’s first, just defence we needed to tighten up on. Sydney won in the end and they did deserve it, just helps when the umpires want it too.

Sydney wanted it, buddy deserved everything he got from Maynard. You’ll see buddy was going at pendles who is without a doubt top 5 most respectful and responsible players and to go at him with such rage like buddy did wasn’t right, therefore Maynard stepping up and matching his energy. Just coz they wear black and white doesn’t mean they’re bad people. Collingwood is a respectable team and always have been (maybe not in the 1900’s) but now they are.

As I keep checking on this match reel, there seems to be more childish commenters than UK pubs (observe at your own risk). I know we lost, admit defeat, congratulated the opposition and moved on like the rest did (mature sportsmanship material), but the other half just won’t stop.
There’s something we can admire from the team or take from this match.
There’s a lot more competition and no matter by how many points you trail by, losing’s losing and winning’s winning (cliche, I know). If there’s one thing that Collingwood won, it’s more fans and admirers because of how far they come and they couldn’t be more proud of them. Good luck, Sydney. Hope to see you and Geelong soon. - from a sports fan.😌

Yes both teams played good football but some of the Umpiring decisions favoured the Sydney Swans and took them to Victory , but I believe in God and Karma comes to bite hard and you will see it to all the Collingwood doubters and ex footballers who think they can predict or critic a team they fall short in many ways on judging the game it shows on their intellect. Collingwood played an exceptional and creative brand of Football and Much of the Credit goes to their Coaches Craig McCrae, Justin Leppitsch and Craig Bolton who in my opinion are the best Coaches Collingwood has in a long time they are Creative and Super Coaches and I believe they will Take Collingwood to Premiership Success in the Coming Years starting in 2023.
The AFL needs to review the Umpires because they can change the Game in an instant especially Finals, AFL needs a TV Umpire to Overturn wrong Decisions made by the field umpires and there needs to a penalty for umpires too making wrong decisions "SO GO PIES TO GREATER PREMIERSHIP SUCESS IN 2023"

pies got goals from free kicks too though wtf, just because a goal came from a free kick doesnt mean it wasnt deserved. all the 50’s except ginnivans were correctly called, and papley pushed moore which was free, but then quaynor came over top and hit papley high so the latter gets paid. if you dont know the rules just say so instead of making yourself upset and believing pies shouldve won. they were behind for 120 mins of that game and deserved to be more behind because swans cant kick straight.

AI umpiring? 😂 Footy is not a game of absolutes so there is no algorithm that could possibly account for the grey areas of the game that wouldn't defeat the purpose of it being a fluent spectator sport. Who, in their right mind, would want to have the game stopped every 60 seconds to have an adjudication passed over petty or soft incidents? Footy is popular because there's always been an element of questionable umpiring decisions that works both ways depending on which umpire makes the call (or not, as the case may be).
The only AI seems to be your assessment that a greater amount of frees being paid would actually be beneficial to the game! 😂
