Full credit to the Lions for fighting back from a 5 goal deficit in the first quarter and to be able to book their spot into their first grand final since 2004. The Blues did so well to not only get their season back on track in the 2nd half of the season but to be able to progress deep into September but couldn't quite get it done in the prelim. All the best for the Lions next week too against the pies at the G (Lol, first time there since 2017)

Because the umpire has to signal the end of the quarter/game to make the siren stop and they forgot to do that 😂

Should’ve put up the Carlton fan channel with Mark McClure, Andy Maher and the Dominator as commentary was honestly less bias and more neutral than Luke Darcy.
Amazing comeback by Brisbane in Q2. Realised what wasn’t working, changed their game, and never looked back. It was a Lions-looking game from then on. Kiddy Coleman and Dunkley were sensational. Whole team’s pressure lifted. When Brisbane are switched on, they are riveting 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Their defenders, led by Harris, were excellent. McKenna, Darcy Gardiner, who hadn’t played since Rd 13 and only 2 games this season, was superb. Big O in the ruck. 2 best teams of the season playing in the final. Looking forward to it!

What an incredible improvement from Carlton over a short period of time. Just 2 years ago they conceded like 19 consecutive goals in a nearly 100 point loss to port, and then here they are putting up a fight against brisbane at the gabba
Just like last year. Brisbane is the best attacking side, so even a 30-point lead isn't safe. Good on them!
Dominant performance after giving the Blues a 5 goal headstart in 14 minutes. Hard to pick a winner in the granny but I'm hoping for Brisbane.
As a Carlton supporter I never expected us to beat Brisbane at the Gabba. It was more of hope than anything. Lions didn’t finish 2nd and were undefeated at the Gabba all season long for no reason. Still it’s disappointing to lose. Hopefully this will stir the players on for taking the next step. The one positive I can take is making a preliminary final with both Charlie and Harry having next to no impact with lack of goals. If they can work it who knows what 2024 will be like.

congrats to carlton for making it this far against all odds, but this game ended pr much at half time, carlton forwards looked so slow and curnow was not an active part of this team in finals, we’ll see you boys next year

As a Pies fan, I'm not supposed to say this, but I feel real bad for them. I do have a soft spot for Carlton, and was so happy to see them come from where they were earlier in the season.

To be fair, we lost fairly. But there's nothing wrong with that. Im one of the 95,000 fans who's happy with this result. This year Carlton pulled off a great season, and looking for another, and another. The flag will come soon... Proud of the boys.

@@inkedcanvas2541 impact is much more important than frees. brisbane got alot of stupid, meaningless stuff given. carlton had way more impactful goal opportunities from them. it was fairly obvious that a pies vs blues final was intended.

I’m very proud of the team we were 15th but in three months of football since then we have only lost 2 matches one was a nothing game the other Aganist probably the best team in the competition at home. We will only get better and can definitely win a couple premierships with this team and finish top 4 next season.

People need to understand that curnow can’t do everything, he played an incredible season and the fact that we can play well without his surges is good enough, you can’t solely rely on one player, and people who don’t support Carlton have clearly turned a blind eye to the fact that he plays a far more important role now, he’s not all about kicking goals anymore and what he’s doing is helping others get on the scoreboard
The commentary was atrociously pro Carlton. Next week is gonna be even worse! Up the Lions
The commentary is always against Brisbane. Same with Rugby League. Commentators from Vic and NSW just hate QLD...especially Brisbane.

I didn't watch the game but just like I thought, the umpires carried Carlton through the first half like they have throughout the whole season! Almost all of Carlton's highlights came from Free Kicks and another highlight where it shows the Blues infringe in ruck contest(1:57) and no Free Kick against, where they kick a goal!
I agree. I didn't think there was a bias until this weekend. Collingwood deserved to be in the GF, but the umpires helped them this weekend. Carlton were given every soft opportunity possible, especially in front of goal. Somebody at the AFL wanted the revenue from a Collingwood vs Carlton grand final.
Also no holding the man at 6:28 by Cerra, Kiddy didnt have the ball and was still tackled to the ground leading to a Cripps goal

Mate we did well, most of the boys have never played finals. Plus all the teams we played were seasoned finals teams and beating 2/3 is not bad for our first stint, considering no one thought we would be here.

That third goal was an absolute gift to Carlton, and should be cause for review.
Hipwood barely gets possession, gets it knocked out his hands, and this is supposedly called 'holding the ball'? The ball then goes into Starcevich's gate and naturally gets kicked a short distance away whilst the whistle is still being blown. No hand signal has yet been called by the umpire, and they call a 50m penalty???

It's because the recruiters are far more concerned with vertical leaps, 20 metre sprints and beep tests instead of the ability to kick. Instead of recruiting footballers they are recruiting athletes to play football.
They're also not training the drop punt as much anymore....but instead placing more of an emphasis on snap and banana/checkside kicks. The result is that most players cannot kick straight anymore.

Should have been coz Pies were gifted it by umpire bias>>> That gang tackle where Brent Daniels had both his arms pinned and had his face slammed into the turf when his opponent fell into his back, was enough to send him off injured for the remainder of the game but not enough for a Free Kick at a critical stage of the Last Qtr? Classic example of why the AFL had brought in those new penalties to 'protect' the players but was really only installed to give the AFL more control over which team wins!
