I just received a black nitride BCG from Aero and was looking for the items you mentioned in this video. Seems like they saw this and corrected their mistakes or lack of QC, because the one I just got has a similar looking stake job as the Daniel Defense BCG you reviewed here. I was pleasantly surprised for under $150.... Aero makes great products
I personally like AP products. I've owned both DD & AP BCG for 5 years: Weight: same to .1oz (best my scale can do). Lenght: identical, staking on both as well as overalll appearances: Identical. Bolt and carrier dimensions +/- .0001 from nominal. Firing pin, same lenght, but DD was polished a bit more. Measured with good minus pin gauges and Mitutoyo digital caliper. I'm pleased with both.

I own BCGs from both companies. Both are solid. If you wanted to save some cash and distribute it to another area of your build I'd go with Aero Precision.
I don't care how good a product is, I will not support companies that even remotely support more or tougher gun laws.

The BCG is the most important part of the rifle, when you are in the middle of nowhere or getting attacked by a zombie horde a broken-damaged extractor or bolt will ruin your day.

Background good. I certainly wouldn't pay up for the DD BCG. I Got hooked on the XPB from Sharps, which is $30ish cheaper, and a real performer under severe duty. 8K rounds and counting on my original, and will be testing their Nickel Teflon Reliabolt in my new XM177E2 build from OG 'Nam parts including Chromed BC. I figure the Reliabolt will help any issues with no M4 feed ramps on the old receiver, which it has done, since I added it. In my experience, every piece of Aero Precision I've ever used, functioned flawlessly, and was of very high standard of quality. If given just those two choices, I'd go with the Aero, and add the money saved to my ammo budget.

Bought one from Black Rifle Depot that looks as if it could have been made in the same factory and just didn't get Daniel Defense etched on it. $105 with shipping included.
@@1stevenyarbrough the difference is in the specs. toolcraft makes most mil spec bcg. Colt gets theirs and checks all the specs and the ones that are not in spec get sent back and then sold for cheap by places like psa and others. you pay for quality work just like with lowers. thats why sons of liberty is so great because they adhere to those specs and have their own that are even batter and they are very affordable . only thing i dont care for is their qpc barrels, i prefer a chf chrome lined barrel on a battle rifle.

The Daniel defense has always been known as a high quality bcg. In my eyes not worth the money but for sure high quality. Going forward I am done with nickel boron too much maintenance and polishing to clean. Black nitride and titanium nitride only for me. Per your recommendation!
Great review. I think after a while you will reach a point where the law of diminishing returns come into play because the average shooter will not need anything more than a quality BCG from Aero or PSA for that matter. If you want to pay the extra money, by all means you can do whatever you want with your money. Is it worth the money? Depends on the shooter.

Daniel Defense has done nothing beyond piss me off with their narcissistic prices, like many manufacturers. I'm not paying for a rifle to get a name, I'm paying for a rifle to get a rifle. If I want something special, I'll build the damn thing.
Any bolt carrier group past say 90-100 dollars you better be paying for the finish, hell nitride is extremely beautiful and strong whilst cheap
I like the grey carpet and how it helps regulate the cameras light sensors.
For bcg's I personally like Aero, everything I need and want and nothing that I dont. Even the general PSA standard ones have never failed me. Theres no way I can justify paying twice as much for a bcg when the QC difference is so minor, whatever extra lifespan value I'd get roundcount wise is less than getting a replacement bcg.
Got thousands of rounds thru my 4 year old PA-15 range plinker without a single failure or malfunction. I agree PSA does just fine! Although I'm currently in the middle of building my "apocalypse" rifle and pretty much every single component is either KAC, Sons of Liberty, or BCM because just as KB was saying, it depends on what you use it for. I'm building a fighting rifle so I'll work for some extra cash in order to get the higher quality stuff. Next time I build a rifle though I'll almost certainly use an Aero because they're just good BCG's
I’ve got a Daniel Defense, PSA, and BCM BCG. Both I bought years ago and they’ve been perfect. The DD is unmarked. It’s probably 7-8 years old. Truth be told the PSA has been flawless as well. You’re right about the DD BCG though. It was probably the tightest between all 3 when it was new.
In my experience as long as you have a good name brand bolt and carrier with a spare bolt on you or in the pistol grip and your weapon is kept decently clean and lubed..you will be fine. I do prefer bcm bolts but that's just me. Thanks KB32, and god bless!👍✌🇺🇸💪

How is it that I see people that can just through in that retaining pin for the firing pin with no problem. It never fails. I've always got problems getting it through.

KNS precision retaining pin makes a world of difference, only 8 bucks. My standard pin is a headache as well.

Eyeball your Bcg from the rear so you can see the pin....
When you put it in sometimes it wants to angle down away from the hole on the other side.... so you have to counter the force by pushing it kinda down to make it go up..(much easier to show then explain hahaha)
And it should pop right in
I had the same issue until I watched a vid on this subject. Insert the pin and with the loop horizontal, lift up and push... I couldn't believe how great that worked.
I have a sweet original "early" Daniel Defense M4A1 serial number 102xxx that came with a chromed full-auto Daniel Defense BCG that has now been discontinued for a few years... and I absolutely love it. The quality of it is TOP notch.
I was hoping to buy another one but these full-auto DD chromed BCG are extremely hard to find now days.
I've had good results with the Aero Precision BCG's. The phosphate and the black nitride finish Aero Precision bolt carrier groups have 158 steel bolts, but the nickel boron finish Aero Precision BCG's have 9310 steel bolts.The firing pins may have different finishes between those also.
I have both and they are both fine. The Aero is basically a Toolcraft which is rock solid.
Yes, Aero doesn't make their BCG, probably ToolCraft, Aero Branded.
Just get a PSA bolt, they have normal and premium carriers groups. You don't need anything fancy. Spend the rest on ammo.

For the bcg, I would agree. The bolt,not so much. Finish is never as important as function. There are bolts that are far superior than others. I have broken two bolts in my rifles at the can pin hole. I switched to the HM denfense HMB battle bolts in all of our rifles and havent had a problem since. 4 years after their initial design, I called HM about 3 weeks ago and they still habent gotten a broken bolt back yet nor has the licensed manufacturer who is now producing them.
Not all parts take the abuse like other parts do. A chromed lined bcg,nope isnt important. Makes it a little easier to clean. Put the money where it counts.
@@FreedomInc A chrome lined bolt carrier and gas key is essential for an AR15. Those are the 2 main places where you're gonna get corossion.

I will always say this when it comes to BCG's. The BGC is a consumable. You don't have to pay top dollar to get a good one. Paying top dollar for one is like paying top dollar for a sheet of sandpaper. Sure it might hold up a bit longer but it was never meant to be forever, it was always a throwaway part.
But it doesn't hold up just a bit longer, it holds up a lot longer.
Another good approach to bring to these types of comparisons is to measure the quality. Put in the 3 bore gauges, measure the gas tube, pin protrusion and such. Adding these would be a much more quantitative assessment of the quality
Kinda funny that nearly all my bolts last 20 plus thousand rounds before a lug shears, but when I get two toolcraft bolts that break at cam pin holes inside 15k between the two of them. Not each.... but total.... I get people scoffing like I did something wrong.
Then they backpeddle and say "I don't want to say you did something wrong"......
Not doing certain inspections and heat treating regardless of materials used matters a little I think.

Two thumbs up for the lighting, background, etc. It's perfect! I have 2 PSA bcg's. A Nib, and a bottom of the barrel that I paid $50 for. The cheap one felt pretty gritty at first, especially compared to the NiB. But guess what - the cheap one works just as good. Music at the end also gets two thumbs up!
I bet there’s only a handful of places actually producing all this stuff.
Places that get a high volume of students should start tracking failures of common parts. A spreadsheet over long enough of a period and accurate records would allow some patterns to emerge.
It’s probably down to a statistical min on AR15’s now but 10+ years ago I’m guessing the data would be very different.

I love the Fail Zero bcg's. My last one I bought had weak staking on the gas key just like the Aero one does. Sure enough it started coming loose after a few 100 rounds. I contacted Fail Zero about it and they immediately sent me a pre paid shipping label to print out. I mailed it to them and they sent me a brand new one with beautiful staking on the gas key. Awesome cust. service. I do love Aero Precision also. I use there m4e1 enhanced upper and lowers on a few of my ARs.

SynFuLLLz Look around. Toolcrafts quality is slipping. A regular guy had 2 different ones break on him prematurely. Other 3rd party reviewers online have reported out of spec bolt dimensions. So as of now, I don’t think the majority of Toolcrafts can do 23k rounds.

I dont see why people dont see the problem with these "sanctuaries". Call the sheriff and ask him or her to name just one law they are not enforcing today that they were 30 days ago. And look up the word sanctuaries.

I'd put money on Daniel Defense using the appropriate gas key staking tool. Aero-Precision is most likely staking the key bolts by using a manual punch operation. The tool isn't that expensive. I love Aero-Precision, but if you make these rifles for a living you should use the staking tool. It doesn't mean the manual staking doesn't work just fine, it does. but, you can get inconsistent results with it if you aren't paying attention. Still, for the money, I'd get the Aero BCG and just check the staking on the key myself. Of course, I have a staking tool.
In my opinion, the PSA premium bcg when on sale for $70, is the best bang for the buck. I have several and the staking is excellent, fully tested and inspected, and 100% mil spec

@@vinceruland9236 Yes, they have, 9310 bolts beat c158, s7 beats that and LMT is using aermet 100 for the currently best (and by far most expensive) bolt.
Gotta remember the original milspec was written over 50 years ago, materials have changed a lot in that time. The LMT enhanced bolt is 289$ for JUST the bolt, it's another 120$ for their carrier too.
I own two Daniel defense uppers, mk18 and m4a1. I replaced both dd bcg with sharps rifle company bcg. I do not regret it. Like with any rifle, you clean it and lube it well. It will shoot like a charm.
I originally wanted a BCM, yet they stayed sold out. I looked at others, but after researching Aero I couldn't see the purpose in spending the extra money on DD. Went with Aero, so far been happy with my purchase and my savings.
I use to have a few DD’s, PSA’s, couple AP’s, and some franken builds before a boating accident. Here are my experiences so get your tissues ready:
1. You do get what you pay for...to an extent. (Diminishing returns does come into play.)
2. Is DD and BCM better....yes....but MOST people will never push their weapons far enough or hard enough to see the difference.
3. Aero is a solid, accurate, quality rifle....PSA makes solid rifles.....it’s the barrel and bcg lifespan that you pay for in DD’s and BCM’s.
4. People regurgitating the same “buy cheap and use leftover money for ammo and training” should honestly stop. Everyone has already heard it 1000’s of times.
5. I’ve found that the same people that talk the most BS about going cheaper are the ones that upgrade their stuff to the point that they spend more money and it’s on useless junk.
6. If your building...quality bcg is good but it’s easily changed. I’d worry more about the barrel selection.
I don't know if BCM has ever admitted to it but there has been speculation that they get CHF barrels from FN. This is also who PSA get their CHF barrels from. Have both companies offerings and they run flawless.
Carpet is a good background. Also, got to go with DD. Of course I'm biased, being I own one lol
Wow I didn’t know that about Daniel Defense. Even with their weak retraction I can’t support Daniel defense. I will be buying a POF minuteman now or the POF Wonder. I like the heat sink barrel nut idea and the push pull extraction. Daniel defense certainly made the choice easier though.
u know bcm and sons of liberty make rifles just as good if not better than dd if that is the only reason u r getting a piston gun.
The average shooter will be fine with aero.
Aero BCGs are probably better then milspec BCGs that are literally inside every rifle that every service m4 has inside it. A BCG is a BCG. The only guys who get special ones fall under SOCOM. Standard BCGs ain't nothing special and they're used by more then the "average shooter"

Trust that there are tons of us in the military who are loyal adherents to the Constitution, as you said so well. Many officers forget, but the only oath we take is to support and defend the Constitution. Nothing else. Which means as written. Thank you for saying that.
Keep in mind that Aero Precision provides parts to multiple vendors. It is possible that they are both manufactured on the same line. BCGs are typically priced Phosphate, Nitride and then Nickle Boron. You are comparing the lowest rated (by price) of one vendor to the top rated (by price) of the second vendor. I agree they should be inspected periodically, and since I do check these parts, I would not spend the extra money for the DD. Admittedly, all of my builds are essentially Aero Precision, and I am very much looking forward to the PCC solutions that are coming out soon.
I bought a Aero Precision phosphated bcg and I did do some work on the staking. It just gave me more confident. But I have done the same thing on 2 other carriers. Cool video. Oh, one more thing I do to all of my bolts is put the BCM inhanced extracter spring and o ring in them. I had a Aim Surplus Nib bcg and I was having extracting issues. So I installed the BCM spring and o ring, problem solved. Background is perfect, love it!

Gray vs. grey. As a Southern boy with a bit of a Georgian accent I prefer the grey background. Yes, grey is much better.
As for the DD vs. Aero; for the bumps in the night or if I were going into battle, I'd lean toward DD just for the quality control. For everything else, anything else will do.
If you have to cut costs, do it on the lower.

I first bought a 5.56 Daniel Defense DDM4v5s carbine. It took all my money at the time, but I have confidence in this rifle in a shtf situation.
I then wanted a 300blk AR pistol I could both afford and depend on.
Most videos say barrel and BCG heart of AR.
So I bought a PSA lower with the sba 4 pistol brace and enhanced polished trigger.
I then bought a premium PSA FN chf chrome lined barrelled 8" upper, and added the Daniel Defense BCG.
A DD heart with an FN soul.
I have confidence in this pistol in a shtf situation.
Unless your buying an enhanced BCG the DD bcg is not worth the money. I rather buy a Sharps rifle company bcg than a DD. I have a patriot ordinance factory bcg in my .300 AAC for home defense. $210. Like kotaboy32 said depends what your using the rifle for. Great comparison!🇺🇸💪🏼👍🏼
The grey background is a good choice 👍... I have never had an issue with my AERO nitride BCGs or my Toolcraft BCGs. I’ve been buying spares and putting them back...I would rather buy two Toolcraft instead of one Danial Defense. I’m not saying DD is not a good, but why spend twice the $ for the same thing if they do the same thing...take the money saved and put it towards a good trigger or a flat wire buffer spring. Neat, thanks! Staking is a big deal, stiffness in gas rings is not since fouling will loosen and tighten them both up. BUT the staking alone does NOT justify the mark up in cost. Looks like you're paying for the name and maybe DD has more overhead or just likes profit, hell who doesn't like profit.
To be honest I have had so many different BCGs over the years and I have never had one fail for any reason and I have run the guns extremely hard at machine gun shoots.
I do think DD are snake oil peddlers on their guns. You know their buyers are the cork sniffer types generally speaking.
I owned a DD rifle several years back and it was nothing special really and not very stable as far as accuracy goes lots of stringers on paper. I did a range test between a Ruger AR and the DD I had and there was no difference in the accuracy.
Another guy at the range that day had a DPMS M4 and his gun was more consistent and had tighter bullet groupings.
I you like DD then by all means buy their products its a free country. Me personally I had one one and don't plan on getting another.

I usually stand by you get what you pay for, but the point of diminishing returns comes quickly in the gun world. I also believe in the world of Gucci ar’s, Daniel defense is bottom of the barrel. I say this as someone that’s played with them, Barrett Rec-7’s , lwrc rifles and so forth.

There hasn't been much change in the world of firearms, at least not enough to make myself and many others drop the older stuff, IE the remington 700's, and purpose built ar's.
When someone can exceed accuracy per $, and or create a borderline service less firearm I may change my tune.
However, until then I'll still be rocking my tried and true 700's, and my budget minded (not cheap) ar's.
I'd also like to note I am NOT dogging on companies like DD, Noveske, ect. they make phenomenal products, but the dollar for dollar value isn't there in my eyes.
Dpms over DD lmao. I own a colt 6920 a Daniel defense, and a windham weaponry. DD makes a fine rifle, most of the hate on them is just guys who can’t afford to buy them. I don’t see guys in the field running dpms or PSA but there’s DD being ran and some with 203s so no there get what you pay for rifles.
on the ar-15 forums battlefield las vegas posted lots of useful information from around 2014. basically what he said every other BCG except Daniel defense and LMT Enchanced broke around 80k-100k. at that time i believe he had yet to break the DD and lmt BCG but had to replace some parts like pin and springs.
keep in mind he considered it broke when the bolt carrier would shear somewhere.
Yep and Aeros make bad QC BCGS been proven time after time, still I check the specs of any brand personally would never invest in a KAC or LMT due to their poor QC reciéntale at their high price point DD is the most I’m willing to pay.
I'm really liking this series, great job. The answer to is DD worth the $$$ on any part is usually a hard hell NO. What you pay for is their MASSIVE marketing budget. Good parts, just over rated and over priced as all get up. And before the DD fanboys jump on this, yes, I am a certified armorer, so I have seen and used a few BCGs in my time!
You are correct.
As a certified Armorer myself, I know that many of these AR assembler companies simply outsource, ( to one extent or another, ) the parts used in their guns.
The more budget-minded companies will simply install the vendor supplied part into their AR while another company that charges more will add their embroidery to it, ( such as the BCG that dd uses, ) by laser engraving on it before installing it into their guns.
So in this instance, the increased price difference that one is paying for is the company's logo on the out-sourced BCG.. that's it.

@@michamichaowski8375 hate to burst your bubble, but unless they changed something in recent years, the BCGs used in their 5.56, .300 B/O, 6.8, etc, are sourced from a vendor, ( Microbest, typically ).
Now, for the DD5 line, those BCGs are actually machined and assembled in house.

I used to do a LOT of photography. Grey background is perfect in so many ways.
Sharps Rifle Company BCG is by far, my favorite on the market. I wish they offered their bolt in 6.5 Grendel and some other cals. But it is my Go-to for 5.56 and 308.

I continually subscribe to your channel only to find that I’ve been unsubscribed within two or three days. I’ve never had this problem with any of the other 2A channels. This seems to be an isolated occurrence but it happens so frequently that I’ve stopped re-subscribing.
Please understand that I enjoy your channel, the presentation of information and your content but I just can’t seem to get the subscription to stick. Nonetheless, I will continue to watch your videos as a lurker in the shadows.

@@DB.KOOPER "when done right" is the key phrase there. Mil-Spec is C158 and it has been used for decades without issues, so that is why I choose it, cause I haven't had any issues either.
I built a 10.5 Aero pistol carbine with a Law Tactical hinge. The LT BCG insert combined with the Nickel Boron runs like butter and perfectly mitigates the short barrel harshness.
That Aero bolt looks suspiciously exactly like an AIM surplus bolt. I have used AIM bolts in multiple rifles and none have failed me so far.

I usually go to Ally/ Arm or Aim. They are as far as I understand made by ToolCraft. It all depends on who is shipping free but I've never had an problems with either Company.
They are most likely both from the same OEM with a different coating and branding. Toolcraft provides good value for their products, and ia probably the OEM for both. I don't need no Gucci BCGs.

Toolcraft DLC bolts for me EVERY TIME!!! The MPI Carpenter steel ones. I have to go to their website directly to order usually since Arm Ally is often sold out.
I think your gray carpet looks good. I think it's fine. No doubt that Daniel Defense makes a great bolt carrier but you also have to remember that you're paying for the name is it really any better than Aero precision? I seriously doubt it. At least not for my money.

One thing to note, DD does individual HPT/MPI testing on their bolts, Aero does batch testing.
But if I’m buying, I go Toolcraft from Arm or Ally.
Toolcraft ? There’s a recent video showing how dogshit that BCG and Bolt specifically is.
Valhalla is my Heaven Toolcraft makes the carriers, the Bolts are supplied by the individual outfit selling them. So one company may be selling good ones with properly spec’d bolts and another company could have skipped.
I have had nothing but success with BCGs from Arm or Ally, which was formerly Monmouth Reloading.

I’m sure he has some good insight on other things but on two occasions now it’s obvious he doesn’t understand exactly what he’s reviewing.
I’m not sure where he sourced that from, but it should’ve been glaringly obvious he had a bad one when it showed up not marked as being run through the HPT/MPI checks. I’m sure he’s unaware the Toolcraft doesn’t actually actually manufacture the bolts.
I saw another review he did on the Samson 3.5x magnifier where he was complaining about it not staying locked, all while failing to realize he was using some insanely bulky rear BUIS that was preventing the magnifier from even properly engaging in its mount.
So he does have a history of overlooking some things.
Off the top of my head I can’t say what other suppliers offer a Toolcraft BCG with a properly spec’d bolt but I’m sure it’s more than a few and buying one of the Toolcraft BCGs with the CAGE code on them is good way to know you’re getting a good one as I believe in 2017 the USMC ordered a bunch of them as direct replacements for worn/broken units.

The Military buying and using something isn’t a good gauge for good or bad. They are infamous for buying shitty equipment(ask me I’ll tell you 😉). However two broken bolts no matter who makes them speaks volumes about that company to me. They aren’t doing their due diligence imo. I use Odin works in two of my rifles and haven’t had any issues, one BCG has about 12k to include a trip to Thunder Ranch(all steel case minus 1k frang) the other only has about 2k all steel. My third AR is a Sig and whatever BCG they use.
BCG was offering *free* BCM with uppers (also gave Mr a hanguard, but that may have been pity, I live in WA and maxed out my credit)
I've only ever broken two parts on my AR. The firing pin and a buffer retaining pin/spring. So I haven't been able to justify the $200+.

The staking on the DD is ok but not great. The aero is lacking. Without tools and gauges it is not possible determine if either is quality. Both make great groups and both make lemons. This video is about ashestics and track history in the industry…at best.

I feel like in this day and age there is a pretty normal standard or mil spec yea some stuff is coated better but I don't really see the point in over paying for almost the same thing I get there is a mines better because it cost more thing it's been going on for hundreds of years unless you're planning on going and shooting a 1000 plus rounds a day for most average people a 500 or 600 dollar rifle in today's age with our modern technology is more than effective for most but that's just my opinion I know everyone has one. I would say with the DD you would have to almost live in a dry city because of what the bcg is coated with, it will rust easier than the nickel boron that’s for sure. Quality control maintenance will have to be done constantly on the DD.
I have both and I have shot the ever loving fire out of the Aero Precision without one problem.
I cant take a company seriously if their stripped lowers are out of spec.I bought two Aero stripped lowers a gen2 and a m4e1.Both were out of spec so I wouldn't be able to trust anything Aero makes.

I bought a Rock River many years ago and the bcg on that thing didn't meet any of the criteria that we look for in a bcg but it still outlasted the barrel's ability to maintain an acceptable level of accuracy. I put a lot of rounds down the pipe of that gun.

I am in no way a DD or Aero guy, but this was about as silly a comparo as I have seen. Three bore wasn't measured, torque values weren't measured, neither had decent carrier key screws, carrier key hole wasn't measured, springs weren't even mentioned, fire pin protrusion, etc. It goes on and on from tool marks and coating brittleness on the outside to how it actually works on the inside. Want a cool kid BCG buy a DD, want one that will work until it doesn't buy an Aero.
I have switched to tool craft exclusively. They have all been excellent.
They're not the same material if one has a bolt that's C158 while they other is 9310. I'm sure most know their differences, but I prefer to play it safe and go with a C158 bolt rather than trusting a manufacturer does proper heat treating. Done correctly you get a 7% increase in strength, but if it's not done right you have a 50% reduction. I don't like to play the lottery.

What’s wrong with the mil spec bolts & carriers at $75?
The $75 BCG may be the same material and within dimensional tolerances but it likely isn't genuine MILSPEC. The primary differences are quality control and government inspection (to verify parts meet the Military Standard).
Search "the truth about mil-spec" and a (dated) article in Defense Review PDF will come up. The article explains what MILSPEC really means.
Yes, there is a difference between the two. Will a civilian ever be able to tell the issue. Probably not. . What sets the Daniel Defense apart Is the testing . A lot of people do not understand what mil-spec or TDP is and why it's important.
As a civilian Very doubtful, we will ever be able to tell if the Daniel Defense is better or not. There's a reason why Daniel Defense supplies weapons, and other parts to militaries and Aero Precision doesn't. The Daniel Defense is built to handle the stress of training and Duty usage.
I would trust either one of these with my life.
My personal favorite bolt carrier group . Is the LMT enhanced bolt carrier group and Bolt on carbine length gas system. For mid length Colt , BCM , Geissele , DD Chrome plated , LWRCI or FN BCG with LMT Enhanced Bolt.
LMT Enhanced IMO makes the best Bolt period and the best BCG for carbine length gas system .
Has Aero ever went after any military contracts? That should be stated instead of saying well DD gives shit to the military and Aero doesn’t. DD is a great brand but they are starting to get a little ridiculous with their prices.

@@wilhathaway1987 I remember in 8 years ago before DD came out with their own furniture. They were using magpul Stocks and Grips . You coukd pick up DDM4A1 or DDM4V5s for under $1200. I paid under $1100 for my A1 in 2012 . I really don't know why their prices went up $600 - $800 . They added $80 worth of furniture and jacked the price up . To be honest there's only 3 things I really like from DD . Those are Barrels , Rails , and Chrome plated Bolt / BCG. SOCOM has been using by their rails for almost 15 years now and been using their 10.3 barrels for a good while . Recently they got the 14.5" Mid Contract as part of the USASOC URGI MK18 & M4A1 . The URGI to my knowledge uses Colt Upper With Bolt / BCG , Geissele Airborne Charging Handle, and MK16 Mlok Rail , and DD 14.5" MID with SF 4 prong flash hider . I think its using either Geissele Super or DD MK12 Low Pro Gas Block.
As a civilian would I take DD Upper over Aero Precision M4E1 Upper That answer would be hell no. If i was LE and had to purchase ny own Carbine . Then yeah I'd probably choose DD or BCM over an Aero . Just for that extra piece if mind . I wouldn't hesitate to take any Aero Product out on Patrol. As a civilian your never gonna notice the difference at all . In Military application hell yeah your gonna notice a difference. TDP / MILSPEC is super Important. I know it's a term that gets thrown around alot . Very few people know how important it really is . Also very few companies can mass produce quality product for those large scale contracts . I only know of a few that can mass produce TDP Carbine . Colt , FN , LWRCI , Sig , LMT , KAC and DD .
Aero is actually my Gold standard for receivers . The Gen 2 Ambi controls Lower is probably my favorite. The M5E1 is also my Gold standard as well . The Stainless steel 308 or 6.5CM barrels are super accurate. I kniw my 16" 308 SS is SUB MOA with quality ammo .
I don't know if it's Aero that owns Ballistic Advantage or Vice versa . Either way both of those companies are OEMs for a crap ton of other companies. I've heard but not 100% sure that SOLGW uses Ballistic Advantage barrels . SOLGW is a pretty well known company now for quality products .
It wouldn't suprise me if Aero did have Parts contract . I don't think they do but I wouldn't be suprised if they did .
I like Toolcraft myself. Great product at a great price. Black nitride and dlc are really nice! I think they make Aero Precision and PSA bcg's. I don't think the DD bcg is all that special...

I had a Del-Ton BCG have it's gas key come loose. The staking was a joke. An old school Bushmaster I own had a BCG with tool marks in the gas chamber walls causing the gas rings to wear down into steel slivers after 800 rounds. More tool chatter marks in the cam pin channel caused these marks to be transferred/hammered into the cam pin. A no name BCG from Midway USA had flakes of nickel boron peeling off. All three were replaced by DD BCG's and that was the end of my BCG problems. Yes it was expensive. I'd do it again.

The problem is they all work....until they don't. PSA will sell you a complete upper for what Daniel Defense sells their bolt carrier for. And, the PSA seem to hold up very well!
I suspect that what stresses the bolt is brass sticking in dirty chambers. The only one that I have seen fail, failed after I had been using a CMMG .22lr adapter and was going to fire a couple of rounds of .556 to clean out the gas tube. I should have used a chamber brush or a bore snake before putting in the .556 BCG and firing a round. It fired, ejected and picked up and fed another round ...... But, the bolt was broken and wouldn't close.
So, I will be more careful after shooting .22lr in an adapter, to clean the chamber before converting back to .556!

The grey background is good. As for the firing pin polish, I assume that the Aero pin also has an NiB coating. NiB, when looked at with a strong microscope, looks like a surface of hills and valleys. That type of surface tends to have low gloss. So the difference might be between the coating on the pins rather than anything else.
Darker,non-glare surfaces always make the best background for videos. Looks great!

You get a lemon every once in awhile. Toolcraft makes great BCGs. In the comments of the video people asked what one he got. I take it he bought the lower priced instead of paying for the better
Wil Hathaway don’t they make most of them for many manufacturers? And isn’t it Anderson who makes most of the lowers? I also remember DPMS did. lower parts for others or something. My point is it’s all basically the same Mil-Spec stuff, some are maybe polished or coated or whatever but same stuff.
@@justplinkin4809 that's precisely why milspec is completely meaningless as a term, if it were milspec it would be made in one way, within the allowed specifications. If one is polishing that and coating this, they're made to different specs. Not the military one.
Titanium Rain Milspec is a minimum standard not a set of hard and fast rules. It’s kind of like building a house that meets code, it can always be better than code.
@@justplinkin4809 That's not what it means. Engineering specs are strict, for a good reason. Milspec means that something meets the MIL-STD standard, and the MIL-STD for the M16 and M4 state that the rifle/carbine need to be manufactured to the specs on the Colt TDP.
It's not the same thing as a building code. I have the Colt TDP for the M16 on my computer, want me to read it? Here's what's on the carrier key page:

The bolt carrier? AISI 8260. Finish 125 in surface roughness, 1.22.2 of MIL-STD-171, yadda yadda yadda I'm not copying all the notes. The bolt? Carpenter 158. The classic. That's milspec.
It's an engineering spec. It's not a building code. You can't show up with something different and say "it's better than code!" because it will be rejected. It doesn't meet spec. Engineering specs tell you exactly what you need to deliver. It's the blueprints with the correct dimensions, tolerances, materials, surface roughness, heat treatment, hardness and surface finish. Even the color of the anodized aluminum parts is part of the spec, it tells you that the military will accept them in a range from black to grey and specifies the MIL-STD regarding the colors.

Boyh looks good to me. I would take the NB finish even if it cost more, I have one in a 300BO and love it. I can just wipe it off, and it's clean, and just a little oil goes a long way.
Definitely you are the most in-depth Chanel in the gun community I’ve followed you from the start even though you don’t have a lot of time to respond but definitely a great show watch ever day I think if you take care of your equipment you should not ever need to spend that kind of money on a BCG can you get a lemon 🍋 yes but that’s with your car or anything if your gonna go full race competition then yes and if your gonna race cars then you got to spend the money 💰
That nickel boron coating makes cleaning nice. I still don’t understand why it’s not a standard for at least the bolt. I shoot suppressed a lot and my DD bcg was hard to tell how truly dirty it was til you grabbed it and your hand turned black. Also required more scrubbing.

Comparison of both products? Have the dimensions mic’d side by side, and then read against standard measurements.
I bought some $89 aim surplus carriers. One was out of spec and I could barely get the cam bolt in and out. It still works though.
