I love the Boeing 747 400 series. Too bad it's going to retire. I'll cry when they disappear forever!! Thank you for all these years of service B747!! You will never ever be forgotten!!
My first 747 flight was to Hong Kong in 2001 and I sat in the upper deck. It was also my first trip to Asia. The 747 also took me to South America for the first time while the A380 took me to North America & Europe for the first time. My last 747 flight will be in June next year, going on QF63 and 64 which'll be my first trip to Africa. As it'll be the last time I splurged on business class & selected a seat on the upper deck on the way over and the nose on the way back.
Wow Qantas 747 must have a very special place in your heart!! I’m sure you’re QF63 and QF64 flights are going to be very emotional :) I hope you enjoy your flights on the 747 in 2020!
The lighting of the shots at the gate are noting short of stunning! Very nice that you managed to catch all the roo's in one line! Absolutely awesome video!
Also in December 2019, I also flew the HKG-BNE flight 98. I also saw that all of the Qantas planes were parked together. I also visited the Qantas Lounge. For the flight to Sydney, there was VH-OEH, a 747-400ER, VH-ZNC, a 787-9 to Sydney and VH-QPB, my A330-300 to Brisbane. I had a great flight and I will not forget it in a long time.
shame this scene won’t happen right now because obviously they have got many flights to Hong Kong. i’m glad that you had a great flight with them mate :)
So glad i found this video great reminder of the 747 on a route i took on QF128 wit Qantas on a 747 REG: VH-OEB back in Oct 2017... if onky i knew back then what was to come.......

This was awesome. Interesting they "downgraded" the plane to a 747 from a 380, I would have thought that as an upgrade! But of course it's fewer people and more expensive. I loved your tour of the lounge and airport prior to the flight. Your hair looked great.
5:58 my personal experience - the netted footrest is a really great design, much better than a solid footrest. It takes the load off the thigh being squashed on the seat as you are sitting, makes it much more comfortable and takes the load off your legs and thighs

Haha thanks Kieron!! Qantas once again announced that they’re going to downgrade their A380 to B747 temporarily next year for HK services. Hopefully I’ll fly them again for the ‘one last time’
I can't wait to fly on Qantas again in 2020 to Sydney. Qantas turns 100 & my aviation journey will reach the decade mark in 2020. Qantas was also the very 1st airline I flew ever in 2010 so I hope that it'll bring back memories
What a pleasant sight having 4 QF aircrafts right next to each other. The 747-400 has the best wing/winglet combo.....I hope I can fly with them once again before QF retire them all. 😢

I've heard you mention the project sunrise flights on Qantas twice now, l heard Alan Joyce say "they will resume by 2024" you might get a seat on one one day yet 🤞. Mmmmm cheesecake, the food in the Qantas lounge at Hong Kong looked excellent 👍

Agreed with many, catering looks pathetic for such a long route. I would fly Cathay anytime for this route, more so when CX treats OW elite fliers better as well.
true cx treat OW members really well. Mum just flew Cathay from Seoul to HK (while I flew Jeju Air lol). She got greeted by two FA and got a bottle of Evian water. She got nothing when she flew Qantas last year. Qantas crew treat the members well only when they feel like it. Thanks a lot for watching!
have been on countless QF mid-haul flights like this (SGR, HKG, NRT, HND, KIX, MNL)....i am starting to think that the inbound flight is partially catered from Australia (with the outbound loaded with catering for the inbound)...reason for this theory is that the fruit served in the box for the economy breakfast appear to be from Australia...not the port of departure...just a theory but having experienced it many times, i think its probable
I think you're probably right with the breakfast fruit platter being loaded in Australia! But I still think that the dinner (first meal) is loaded from the port of departure because they're different on all destinations. Reason being NRT/HND to Australia you get Japanese food, HKG to Australia you get Chinese food. Thanks a lot for watching :D
I enjoyed your detailed review of what could well be your very last flight on a Qantas B747-400ER. It looks to have been a very good experience overall, though I do think those meal portions have become just too small.

B747-400ER does feel more spacious inside compared to non-ER because of the redesigned overhead lockers, which made my (probably) last flight with them even more enjoyable😄 Yeah even the main was tiny! Joyce promised larger main when he removed the trays but that was tiny!

So I went for a swim in our pool in our resort come out and see that OWF uploaded a video! What a great life I have!😂 You said that the food was small but if u were hungry then u could have gone to the galley to get food. Great video Jayden
they don't have a fixed fleet to HK, which is quite good I guess haha. QF127/128 can be literally any aircraft... 787, 380, 330-200, 330-300 and 747 QF117/118 is always 330-300 and -200. QF29/30 and QF97/98: 330-300, -200 and 787!

have been on countless QF mid-haul flights like this (SGR, HKG, NRT, HND, KIX, MNL)....i am starting to think that the inbound flight is partially catered from Australia (with the outbound loaded with catering for the inbound)...reason for this theory is that the fruit served in the box for the economy breakfast appear to be from Australia...not the port of departure...just a theory but having experienced it many times, i think its probable
I think you're probably right with the breakfast fruit platter being loaded in Australia! But I still think that the dinner (first meal) is loaded from the port of departure because they're different on all destinations. Reason being NRT/HND to Australia you get Japanese food, HKG to Australia you get Chinese food. Thanks a lot for watching :D

I enjoyed your detailed review of what could well be your very last flight on a Qantas B747-400ER. It looks to have been a very good experience overall, though I do think those meal portions have become just too small.
Thanks for watching this one Pierre! B747-400ER does feel more spacious inside compared to non-ER because of the redesigned overhead lockers, which made my (probably) last flight with them even more enjoyable😄
Yeah even the main was tiny! Joyce promised larger main when he removed the trays but that was tiny!

Nice video, I thought Qantas flew the 787 to Sydney, not the A330
they don't have a fixed fleet to HK, which is quite good I guess haha. QF127/128 can be literally any aircraft... 787, 380, 330-200, 330-300 and 747
QF117/118 is always 330-300 and -200.
QF29/30 and QF97/98: 330-300, -200 and 787!
I think that project sunrise 787 flew from London not NY
