Why did you call Joel Seedman White? He's clearly Jewish. Seedman is a joke, and us Jewish folks need to own this one instead of passing the buck on to White folks! 😅
How about doing an unstable exercise after one of the staples? I was trained by a guy who trains gold medal Olympians (this was 20 years ago). He swore by this method. Eg. Chest press superset by pushups on a bosu or Swiss/therapy ball. Front squat or back squat superset with bodyweight squats on bosu ball or Swiss ball?
Doing my eccentric isometric hip hinged banded explosive box squat jumps with the earthquake bar and super setting with isolateral dual kettlebell static swings while watching this video.
Mike talking about how not everyone likes RP, and that some people have actually gotten negative results from the program speaks volume to his integrity to me. Yes, not everything works for everyone, that's the real world. For him to actually say that goes a long way to demonstrate honesty, transparency and integrity and I am here for it.
The most annoying thing about Seedman is that apparently 80% of the time, he trains people with the standard stuff even though his Instagram reel is only the useless stuff. Dude is just a boring clickbaiter.
I was going to comment, but you beat me to it. Seedman's 80/20 principle: do standard lifts 80 percent of the time, complex lifts 20% of the time. Basically, grow and get stronger from the 80% and do the 20% for ... reasons.

I'd call that poetic justice if I didn't feel so bad for Mr. Carson who was indeed a tough football player. Can't make this stuff up.
"eccentric isometrics" had me rolling because I literally looked up a chart of these terms when I started to take lifting seriously and EVEN I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
I’m new to lifting so I searched for the “eccentric isometric“ definition and it appears to be a method Dr. Mike is a proponent of, albeit, by another set of terms. The “eccentric “ portion is the slow and controlled eccentric portion of the lifting movement and the “isometric “ portion is the holding of the weights in that eccentric position for “x” seconds before athletically entering the concentric phase of the lifting movement. Doing that is considered “eccentric isometric” lifting by those who like that term. Dr. Mike isn’t a fan, largely to simply break Dr. Seedman’s balls, and chooses to express it as, rest/pause with a slow eccentric, pause, then an athletic concentric movement. Same shit. So, while it appears Dr. Mike is correct on all of the fuckery call outs, regarding the eccentric isometric lifting method, not so much, which he fully knows but it was a chance to kick sand in Seedman’s again, so he did. In my opinion, Dr. Mike would have served his viewers and himself better by explaining the method instead of going on attack.
I'm shocked you aren't also calling him out on not even doing 90 degrees on any of his squats. He's doing like 45 degrees because he's not strong enough to do those weights at all.

Remember that time Joel openly admitted to Dr Mike that his nonsense is literally just to sell his material when 90+% of what he does and does with athletes are the basics? I do
I’ve been a personal trainer for 25 years now. I was blessed early on to learn and train with a trainer who had been training about 30 years at that time. One of the core beliefs I learned was to keep it simple. Every time I had ideas and practiced away from this system I actually saw less results. There are 6 basic movements the human body makes, just load those and make them stronger and move through a long range of motion. Simple= better I trained a hockey player who came to me and showed me all these balance/complicated exercises he was doing. I got him to stop and do the above. Not only did he look and feel better, but played and skated better too.
In my personal opinion, this is the funniest video you have done that I have seen. I also love the full transparency, too many fitness professionals acting like they never make mistakes. Good Stuff as per usual
I love the clips of seedman doing what i like to call the high-intensity tantrum exercise. Just flailing around with no weight looking like he's trying to hold back the world's heaviest nut. Amazing stuff.
These days it's very hard to find someone like Dr Mike that actually says what he really believes and doesn't do random shit that gets views. Thank you Dr Mike 🥰.
Thank God, you posted this video because I’ve been contemplating following this guy for a while, but found his workout so weird, I appreciate this video
I figured out his following, and it's something I haven't seen any seedman critiques mention. He's very openly Christian and a surprising amount of the followers that defend his content reply with "thoughts and prayers!" or "thanks doing the lord's work, Joel" in the comments. Rather than being a lifting coach, he has set himself up as a lifting preacher - a religious lifting authority that's not to be questioned. You don't have to understand, because his techniques work in mysterious ways. P.S. The guy that he was hitting with a medball broke his neck on the field one week after that reel.
That's an interesting observation. Perhaps there is some element of conspirscy mindedness that's giving the whole "conventional wisdom and knowledge is wrong, I'm the ine with the real secret answers" implications of his content?
Holy shit thats hilarious. Makes sense cause hes from Georgia lol. The guy breaking his neck better have chargebacked the personal training payments 😂 thats just too good to be true.
Reason why I know Dr Mike's channel is worth every minute I spent on his content? Beside vast knowledge and will to educate people, he is not afraid to say that no product yields 100% satisfaction or success rate even when talking about his own products.
Layne Norton is an idiot, too.... he has no idea what he is talking about except for the basics you don't need a degree for to understand.... He is always using a lot of words to say nothing or BS. Go to Anthony Chaffee, Bart Kay and especially Nick Norwitz.
I just want to mention how I had a huge patellar tendonopathy injury in my left knee. And lifting using full knee flexion [heels to ass] on the pendulum squat has not only healed my knees but they are now stronger than they have ever been. Full rom works! F**** stopping at 90
I though (and hoped) that this about the guy on Tiktok that is training for badminton tournament :D You should critique him also, it's quite similar to this :D
@DarthNoshitam that is not at all what that means. Doing random things, without a clue, leads to gains but zero understanding why. The degree and knowledge rules out the b.s over time.

Joel read that tension is is highest when an angle is at 90 degrees. That makes sense for things like cables, where, when the cable is perpendicular to your forearm, the work is harder.
Love how real Mike is. Totally no BS he is realistic about his own products in that they might not be for everyone. A great fitness role model and general role model too
the athlete doing trap bar deadlift is former seahawks running back chris carson who struggled with neck injury’s his whole career, he had to medically retire because of it.
You know what I love when under extremely heavy loads? Wobbling all over the place. I can't see how that could possibly go wrong but in fairness I did have my imagination surgically removed
Just once i lost focus on form during deadlift, thus making it a wobbly one, the next second i knew I F***D UP. Save my back or spare the floor? The game was on. TLDR: Back pain won
I've noticed that if you follow the highest tension range of movement, lockout is usually low tension until the last few failure reps where it becomes highly tense. I've been trying tension-delimited partials until exhaustion begins, then go full range of motion as failure approaches. Full depth to about 45 degrees, then go the last 45 degrees to lockout as failure approaches or weight goes down with drop set reduction in load.
Also fun to know, his plates are not "correctly colorcoded" His greens are 10lbs, yellow 25lbs, blue 35lbs, red 45lbs So every lift seems more than it actually is (You can see the numbers on the plates in his videos)
I haven't laughed as hard as I did at 5:20 in years. I inhaled my coffee and I've been choking on it for a solid few minutes. I don't even have words for how hilariously dumb that "exercise" was hahaha
Thinking back to the Thor video, I’m wondering if Dr. Mike would a video around Tom Hardy’s transformation into Bane for The Dark Knight Rises. From what I remember, he bulked up in a super short period and he said it wasn’t healthy, so I’d be super curious to see Dr. Mike’s take on it or what he’d change. Awesome and funny videos as always.
Hardy never talked about his training and only mentioned he dirty bulked. Mike is a training guy so he wouldn’t have shit to say on the subject other than “welp he ate a fck ton of food”. Not exactly the kind of video that would generate clicks+veiws.
@@higherpowerfitness2115 I know a lot of what went into the role was his diet, which was mostly junk. Plus all the camera magic and boot lifts made Tom look bigger than he was. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of getting a more definitive or impressive physique for a villain like Bane or how he would do it differently for a movie. I know Tom Hardy definitely didn’t have a peak look for Bane or ate well. It was more a curiosity thing because I like Bane and Tom Hardy and would want to see how Dr. Mike would eat/train for it
Nolan only gave Tom like 4 months notice for the role. He had so much back acne in on the set photos. Obviously had no choice but to hop on tons of gear and eat whatever he could in such a short amount of prep time
While this video is 10/10 entertaining, it's also helpful! There are so many trainers/influencers out there who are full of crap, and this helps teach you how to spot red flags 🚩🚩🚩
I used to hold a heavy weight while balancing on a balance board, the idea was to work on strength for fast twitch muscles to help reaction time for skateboarding and snow boarding. Not sure if it worked but I had calf muscles that looked like they had wires running through them.Definitely didn't make big muscles but helped train the muscles for balance in my entire body.

12:58 left me deceased 💀 your editor deserves a raise for this one
Just saw that you got the 1 Million. Congratz, it's absolutely deserved. Love the content and humor. Keep up the great work!💪
I find it interesting that Seedman had Chris Carson doing neck perturbations, but Carson retired early due to a neck injury.
Yeah, ironic right 😂
the athlete doing trap bar deadlift is former seahawks running back chris carson who struggled with neck injury’s his whole career, he had to medically retire because of it.
Dr. Mike critique videos are the best thing on TH-cam! Respect. Dope. Right on.
@2:30 that escalated quickly 😅
Joel does a good job of spreading his *Seed* all over the fitness industry 💦
he really is the man
It was an obvious pun. But a good one nonetheless 🤣❤
Joel "Bukkake" Seedman
Is it just me or does Joel looks like Eric Helms.
What an unfortunate last name he has 😂🤣
You know what I love when under extremely heavy loads? Wobbling all over the place. I can't see how that could possibly go wrong but in fairness I did have my imagination surgically removed
Was it injured in an accident while wobbling all over the place while lifting heavy weight
@@richardommundsen2417 it was an elective surgery under the advice of Dr Manseed
Just once i lost focus on form during deadlift, thus making it a wobbly one, the next second i knew I F***D UP. Save my back or spare the floor? The game was on. TLDR: Back pain won
I would love to join your membership but I’m going through a hard time right now, so I’m just gonna watch you on TH-cam but your content is awesome
Also fun to know, his plates are not "correctly colorcoded"
His greens are 10lbs, yellow 25lbs, blue 35lbs, red 45lbs
So every lift seems more than it actually is
(You can see the numbers on the plates in his videos)
That's the same as my gym lol
@@Hellion6325 yeah i have seen them in some videos in other gyms too and i hate them, i dont know whose idea that was lol
I lost it at 12:01 🤣Classic Dr. Mike!
5:43 my man definitely has black friends, that was too perfect 😂
Give your editor a hug. he deserves it!
It makes me so happy Dr. Mike is one of the people that is bothered by people abusing the word 'literally'.
6:32 Here's why I (former powerlifter) prefer Dr. Thumb-thumb's advice on fitness. Man gets reason for specific training.
I haven't laughed as hard as I did at 5:20 in years. I inhaled my coffee and I've been choking on it for a solid few minutes. I don't even have words for how hilariously dumb that "exercise" was hahaha
Dr Joel Seedman is the Neil Breen of the fitness industry.
Underrated comment
"Move like I intended or whatever" - "And then Moses just wrote it down like '90 degree, eccentric, isometric' - got it!"
This shit had me rolling
This vid is Dr. Mike at his absolute best. I laughed all the way through.
It's not a big secret how Tom Hardy got bulked for Batman/Warrior...steroids.
@@sirdanomanHe even said that a lot of the scenes he are in use camera tricks to make him look bigger.
Obviously had no choice but to hop on tons of gear and eat whatever he could in such a short amount of prep time
5:29 I am a black man and i firmly agree with mike 😂😂😂
While this video is 10/10 entertaining, it's also helpful! There are so many trainers/influencers out there who are full of crap, and this helps teach you how to spot red flags 🚩🚩🚩
i think some of these super complex excercises are kind of fun but i would never think that they would help me grow more than actual training
I love the V Shred ads before these vids lmfao love the content Dr. Mike keep it up
Lol man, those squats at 3:12 are among the dumbest things I have seen in my life.
this is why I respect this dude: 7:32 and onward is just *chefs kiss*
He looks like the Dr.Oz of exercise science😂
He's
Dude, the system failure boxes when Joel pops up on that bosu ball squat had me rolling 😂 Love you Doc
Lmfao I just got a vshred ad before this video
Lucky! Then you can report it for misinformation! Wish I still got them so I could keep reporting..😔✊🏼
@ 4:10 isnt he doing damage by slamming his knees like that?
1:45 uhm akshually, 🤓 the stealth abilities of stealth fighters depends entirely on the outside of the frame, not its circuitry 🤓
:P Yeah, but if Skunkworks told us "it's just black paint; any black paint will do the trick", I'd be *very* surprised.
Watching the clips reminds me of the montage of early "aircraft" that was used in the flashback sequence of "Airplane!"
These videos where Mike is actually critiquing and not making sex jokes for 75% of the video are so good
13:22 This exercise is perfect if you want to yeet your ACL into the stratosphere
5:17 🤣😂🤣😂 Bro WTF!!!!
His "special" approaches, "special" as in special school not as in special forces
Influence "social proof" chapter. Im currently on it and yeooo this book explains so well our automatic behaviors (click, whirl), and it really red pills you into accepting that to an extent, freedom is an illusion. Thanks Brandon Carter this book is 🔥 📛
I give Dr Mike an A+ for callin' out the BS.....excellent video!!!!
8:24 thought mike was calling me
4:15 setting that up does not take 20-30 minutes lol
5:28 what did you mean by that? There's a few ways that could be interpreted and none of them are good.
Was good knowing you Izzy, you were a real one
Gosh I am so happy he did this video. Joel Seedman really needs to stop this fraudulent activity
