Hello Victor, Thank you for speaking about the Shimano Soare XR rods. You are 1000% correct that they are extremely beautiful( like fine jewelry). I own both of the rods Soare XR models you mention in this video (thanks to your original review of them). I e-mailed you because I felt that I did not want to be off topic(did not match the content of the video). I do understand your point of view(in regards to TH-cam). I agree that the Shimano Cardiff XR reel looks amazing with the Soare XR rod. Thank you for opening my eyes to ultralight fishing(love it). Thank you for all that you do for this sport(and the ultralight world).
thanks buddy, i appreciate the kind words in the email. And i thought if i don't put the timestamp in my phone you would never believe me that i was already fishing the rods BEFORE you emailed me! : )
First of all, Im commenting here for the algorithm. second of all, I finally picked up a 2019 vanquish c2000. Im a JDM gear freak, and I've finally decided to buy one of those super rare handles. To match it, I decided to pair it with a 39mm EvoMetal emperor black. Also got a matte black metaknob born from EvoMetal as well. Point being is that this handle/knob combo is less than half the weight of the original 45mm handle. Im really curious how this will effect the start up inertia. Anyways, I'm just bragging, and I thought it was cool. But I wanted to thank you Victor. You're the one that's inspired me to become a much better ultralight angler. Good luck on the water!
Never heard of a handle that is half the weight of Vanquish. The vanquish handle already weighs nothing! But this is actually the weird and curious stuff that people like to read, and im sure somebody will read this and check that handle! Thank you, good sir, for feeding the algorythm!
i did that a few times but something bad always happens as i forget about it. Line tangles, it the wall, snag when u go shallow, there is always something
Victor, I agree on your take of solid tip rods. They are more for visual bite detection than feel. One of the best rods ever made with a solid tip was excellent for drop shot fishing it was made by Loomis. I own several. The benefits of that rod and it's tip for drop shot are unbeatable the fish inhales the bait he feels very little resistance, yet you can see the tip bend slightly so you know he has taken the bait in their mouth. Solid tip for visual, tubular for feel and sensitivity IMO
that's right, but this is only the bite detection side. THere is also fighting-the-fish side. There i don't appreciate fighting the fish only with the top 2 feet of the rod but the tip is so much softer than the blank, and it immediately overloads, and then the first half of the blank is always so stiff that it never frikkin loads. I want EVEN LOAD DISTRIBUTION across the blank!
Victor, really enjoyed this video. Please keep the personal tangents coming as they are entertaining and informative. Nice to see the Eradicator back in action. Btw, had my first experience float fishing for crappie & BG with your prototype and will add it my UL arsenal.
I like the pack rod the 6’6’ 4- piece rods over the two piece rod in the daiwa it just feels right in my hand plus for bluegill and crappie fishing I don’t like wobbling rods light is the lowest I fish with

I have seen all of your videos, and i like that you like also trout fishing. By the way, i am a perfectionist, and i rekon i had many solid tip rods and i don’t like any of them even for trout. Thanks and keep it going! All the best!
really? Why didn't you like them for trout? I haven't tried mine yet for trout, but will try it in just a couple of weeks, and was HOPING i would like it for trout...
Thanks for the video! For trout fishing will the 6 foot soare sul perform well with a 1000 vanford, and a 8lb braided line plus a lider FC 10 lb ? Could it cast a 5 grams rapala elite? I'm founding up to 2kg trouts in my area. Thanks a lot for your content really good.
Have picked up 2 Daiwa Presso AGS paired with Daiwa Airity 23 LT2000 and 2 Shimano Soare XR (6 foot and 8 foot). Will use the Shimano vanquish 3000 on the 6 foot Soare XR and Shimano Sustain on my 8 foot Soare XR. Using various weights of varivas line based on your advice on the ultra light rods and light braid on the larger rods. Absolutely beautiful rods and the sensitivity is second to none. The Daiwa I have used for stocked trout and will be using the the 8 foot Soare for Speckled trout in the shallows. Thinking of the Majorcraft Benkei 4 piece travel rod to keep stashed in the car for those spontaneous fishing opportunities.
i can recommend smaller reels for these rods. Just recommendation, they are fine either way. The new Airity ST that was just released is the first airity that compete with Vanquish. Just released a video. Watch the second hald of the video.
your videos opened my eyes to jdm and I have been stocking up over the last year. When I was a kid, always liked fishing with very light rods. Now I am 58, and can spend the $$$ to to appreciate the finer tools we have available. I live on the gulf coast so the majority of my fishing is saltwater for speckled trout, pompano and flounder. I did order a vanquish today for my 6 foot soare xr. Ok, I ordered a couple more Shimano jdm rods on the heavier side for redfish.
Agreed, don’t do casinos or golf so enjoying a little fishing time with nice gear is a small life indulgence. I do also like the challenge of how light of tackle I can use in salt water. A 18 inch speckled trout on 6 lb line with the right rod is a joy to catch.
Hello Victor, just want to let you know I’m excited for your new 1/16 jig heads. Also I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like your jig head design would work very good, if scaled up, for bass fishing with the mid strolling technique. The high drag head design is what makes me think this. Have a good day!

I can make the same jigs in size 8 hook but i was thinking... is this BG any more? I don't fish for panfish with size 8 hook.. eeh... i take that back, i do use size 8 for crappie sometimes... Maybe... maybe... who knows

Good evening Victor. Speaking of tackle, I am looking forward to seeing your new floats and picking up a few for my Presso. I still have plenty of the BG-1 to use under them. They are so sticky and without the float the bottom try's to keep them.
