I know this is 3 years later, but Im 52 now and I have collected and sold Weiss since I was 19 . he is my goto designer I have always loved his work.
I love it ALL! ALL the older pieces just capture a time, place.. events setting thr stage. We do not dress up this way anymore.. it's sad 😢.
Agreed! Some of the pieces can still look great with more casual wear.

I have a few pieces of Weiss jewelry. I was lucky enough to find 2 necklaces, both are the same design, but one is a pink AB and the other in blue AB. They are in excellent condition and look like they have not been worn. I found them in different places around the same time. I really treasure them!!! They are absolutely gorgeous!!!! Weiss has some of the most beautiful pieces I've seen!!!

Absolutely love Weiss pieces. I display all my vintage pins in a “shadow box” lined in black velvet (like) material. The box is quite large and hangs on the wall. Lovely to look at and easy access when you want to wear a piece.

I love this episode, watched it a few times, thank you for your hard work in search. I own two pieces of Weiss, the most stunning brooch, large clear rhinestones with wavy lines of pale yellow rhinestones, the shine is unbelievable and a beautiful clear rhinestones bracele. they are the crown jewels in my collection. I think I might have a black rhinestone brooch and clip earrings, ****I checked this morning and my black rhinestone brooch and earrings are Weiss. I ordered the set about 4 y/o I was trying on the earrings and the back snapped off. I was heart broken.

You can look online on Etsy and Ebay. You can also find them in person at antique stores, resale shops, flea markets, and estate sales. xoxo
I collect and sell mid-century costume jewelry, particularly Weiss brooches and earrings, and Etsy is the best place to go for pieces that have been researched, cleaned, and offered in excellent condition!
I have collected several Weiss pieces - but they are much harder to come across in the UK. Thank you for the video!

I prefer Swarovski crystals in costume jewelry. Rhinestones turn dull and dark with age. I do have an antique broach with a similar style that’s very pretty. I love the designs of vintage jewelry ♥️

Great video! I have a gorgeous WEISS clear rhinestone bracelet I'm about to sell and a stunning clear starburst brooch that I'm keeping. I also have an UNBELIEVABLE necklace that needs professional repair. Not sure what I'm going to do with that, depends on the cost of repair. I love their jewelry but I never wear it anymore and all my funds are going to my latest collecting addiction, Uranium and Selenium glass lol.
Your pieces sound lovely. The good thing about vintage items is that you can usually sell them when you aren't using them and then start collecting again whenever you want. xoxo

What did you say around 1:55ish when you were referring to sets of jewelry? Perrur? Never heard that. New video idea! This jewelry is beautiful. I did NOT know that crawlers weren't new! I have a few pieces that look similar to this clustered rhinestone style...not Weiss, though. I just went to etsy and it looks like there's quite a bit available there. Now I have some shopping to do!

Yes parure. It means a set of jewelry. Jewelry was sold in sets for most of history. Uh oh. I may have created a TH-cam made me buy it moment! Weiss does seem well suited for you. You tend to love bold statement pieces and don't seem shy about sparkle. I'm sure you can also find a lot to see in person in Houston Autumn. I look forward to seeing what you get!
Fabulous video! I've seen many of these pieces in my Grandmothers' collections and my Mom's. I'll have to go into the jewelry boxes. I definitely have some earrings.

I think my Mom owned some Weiss jewelry, but my siblings have distributed and I was not fortunate enough to get any. I have always loved the jewels from the golden years. That’s what I called my Moms jewelry. It’s beautiful.

Jill Maurer thanks for your reply. It’s OKAY really. I love the fact my parents are still here on this earth. Material things come and go but family only last as long as they want to be here with us. My Dad is 97 and Mom 93; married now for almost 71 years! I am truly Blessed!

Oh my this is right down my alley!!! I love these pieces, I have seen pieces like this, not sure if they were Weiss. In New Orleans there is a lot of vintage shops and I saw some pieces much like this. I soooo NEED a TIARA!!!!! LOL

I love your videos, but Weiss is dear to my heart, The Craftsmanship and Sparkle after all these years. I have only a few of his pieces and treasure them. My husband is always teasing me, that I need to sell them now, he wants me to make a list of what my jewelry is, so he can sell it after I death lol rolling my eyes the silly man
He is my favorite since I was 7 lol my mom gave me a bracelet that has a square rhinestone in the middle and the rest is covered with smaller ones..I'm now 53 and I still have it ..and it's still my favorite....I love all his work

Would love to know your opinion about cleaning vintage rhinestones like Weiss's pieces. I've heard one should never immerse them as water gets behind the foil, so cotton swab with....alcohol? Vinegar? Peroxide?
Very good question Margi. I would agree on not submerging in water. I will ask an estate jeweler friend who specializes in vintage costume jewelry. xoxo
Good evening. I have that "black diamond" brooch and clip on earrings. Can you please tell me value..
I have a Christmas Tree pin marked “Weiss” . I am doubting it’s authenticity but still hoping. This is the sugarplum tree. Did they ONLY use pronged rhinestones? Or was there a version where the stones were glued in? Mine has glued on stones and the Weiss hallmark is in an oval cartouche. The back is not “ smooth and reflective” but more of a textured gold tone metal.
Your piece could be authentic Jo Anne. Weiss made so many trees in so many different forms. They have also been copied so you are right to question. I'm not an authority on everything Weiss, but more research may give you the answer. The signature definitely sounds like one Weiss used. xoxo
Can you tell me what to look for in fake Weiss pieces, ? I have been told they are everywhere, using old settings but gluing in stones instead of prong set. Is this true? What about the texture of the back of pieces? Smooth or rough, antiqued? I see so many exact same pieces, such as “starfish” or “Four leaf clovers”. All glued. What red flags does one watch for?
Unfortunately I am not an expert on authenticating Weiss pieces, but I'm sure there has been a lot written on the subject. The real ones are worth the hunt.

Did Weiss have a hallmark? I have been buying jewelry from thrift stores for twenty odd years, and I have acquired unique, odd, oodles of pearls, and follow the bouncing ball through history.
Yes. WEISS is usually signed all in caps. There have been a a few different signatures over the years but usually in all caps. I bet your collection is wonderful! xoxo
My grandmother left me a lot of Weiss pieces . Broaches, earrings and necklaces. Most are light blue in color. She had some diamond looking earrings. They are beautiful. I won’t part with them.

This was very interesting, and I think I might have one brooch that is from Weiss. And although I don’t own any, I’m very fascinated by the Bakelite jewelry. I’ve noticed some of the new designs fashioned after Bakelite pieces.

I enjoy collecting Weiss costume jewelry. I have numerous pieces of costume jewelry from other designers as well. I display them all on a vintage dress.

That's wonderful Mya! Weiss brooches are gorgeous. Weiss made so many brooches that I'm not sure how much help I would be, but there is a lot of information online. What style is it?
How can I tell if it is a 'Wiess'?
Most Weiss is stamped as Weiss. I has been copied so the best thing to do is to try and handle as much as you can so that you can identify the quality. A trusted seller should also be able to tell you.
