- TENKARA YEAR 3, Summer fishing for warm weather species
Tenkara fishing Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin. After my first battle with a large carp (broken rod), I bought the Rocky Rod by Tenkara Rod CO. This is what happened that day!

Well, all I can say is it’s certainly different than trout in the Driftless creeks! Thanks for the entertainment! 😊
Haha! Yes, very different! Thanks Gary!
Watching that HellBender snap in the intro made me cringe again :). The Rocky seems to be a beast of a stick....Tight Lines!
Haha, yeah! Same here, but I had to show the low with the high when targeting carp! The Rocky is very impressive! Thanks Elbert!
Jeepers! Darn it! Holy cow.
Haha!
That last 1-2 feet from the net is the tricky part with carp on Tenkara 😆 I've had that struggle myself!
🤣 yeah they are fighters for sure! Thanks for watching Darin!
Killer! I've never targeted drum on tenkara but I'd love to! Good job on the thumbnail, btw.
They are a blast! Thanks Flicky!
Awsoooome! 😍
Thanks Carlos! Glad you enjoyed it!
I got to get out and get after some of the carp around my place
Dude...... get ready for a fun ride!
What's the tippet rating for this rod vs the Hellbender? I think the Hellbender is 3X(9.5 lb).
Not totally sure. I have used the Rocky for coho salmon with 10 pound test and it works great! In the video with my Hellbender breaking I used 6 pound test. It was a huge carp and I fought it wrong. 🤦♂️ But it was a great learning experience. Hopefully this helped.
Jared, well done! What size Woolly Bugger were you using?
Thanks David! I want to say #10 or 12
