ya from top would be pretty cool too.. i forgot i changed the CVT fluid on this thing already. i would expect i don't need to change it again until at least 60k miles.. i am at 39k miles on this Forester now.
@@LastHumansGarage found out it’s supposed to be a 13mm square socket but, but you can use a 1/2” socket if need be, which is what I used. Supposedly, not supposed to regularly use the 1/2” as it can strip the square hole in the plug, but I found it fit the hole well.
I do like your video and most of the things you said there but there's one little problem if your towing with the your Subaru Forester using a CVT you will have to change your transmission fluid that's only if you're towing if you're not Towing what you said is correct
alright i like how you remove the filling plug before the drain one,, what if you do the opposite and end up with a seized filling plug or maybe stripped or the ratchet took a shit ! you gonna end up with empty rear diff. and thats not cool so i think it looks more professional when you remove the drain plug first when it comes to diff. service also i would like to add this information according to prodemand mitchell1 the front diff. takes 1.3qts and the rear 0.8 qts 75W-90 gear oil
I have had a Subaru forester 1997 (automatic) from new, that has been great for all the years with very little to do other than annual services. However, recently I have had a lot of vibration & shuddering on the wheels when making tight turns (left or right). It is difficult to identify which wheels the noise or shudder comes from and I don't feel much through the steering wheel. I have had all difs replace that has reduced the frequency but not always. We hope it isn't the automatic gear box but has anyone got any ideas what to do next.
What size torx and looks like Allen wrench Adapters do you need for all 4 plugs for both front and rear diff? Don’t want to get started and not have all the tools I need? 2015 forester w/ CVT tranny and 2.5 engine
also while further watching your video when you first remove that plug nothing came out the reason why is I notice that your car is out on the driveway the front end is down low your ass out of the car is up high so there's a different pitch and that picture is the reason why you do cars levels what I'm saying so that's why nothing came out if the car was level you wouldn't have had to stick your pinky and you would have saw a little bit of oil come out also continuing to fill it with it not level you're probably going to end up having a little bit too much oil and having too much oil is going to actually make your rear axle get hotter because there's less air for it to breathe and cool if you were to fill it all the way full to where there's no Oxygen you'd be amazed of how hot that rear axle will get so if you got the vehicle on level ground after you've already finished it to prove my theory is correct if you check the the first nut on the top you're going to find a whole bunch of oils going to come out that's because you filled it too much because it was on an angle
Way,way to early for rear Diff. Unless its extreme first time is 60k. Why waste money like that? Makes no sense. I doubt you go out mudding or rock crawling. I cannot understand why people do changes way too early. Especially on the diff.
Wow! At a dealership, I remember a couple tech friends using High Tack back in the early 1970's. I didn't know it was still on the market.

Did my wifes cvt . Small hand pump and some Honda CVT fluid. Super easy.

this vid? the car prob had about 30k miles. no, changing your oil does not void the warranty.

What size is the socket to get the plugs out? Other reviews show 10mm but that was way too small when I went to do it…

Did you use a Torx bit or hex bit?
cant remember.. some parts use the Torx-17 or something.. but most use a regular 13mm square

nothing wrong with preventive maintenances. i take care of my things too. @75k miles, my front and rear diff, transmission fluid weren't pretty.
