This is something i always wanted to do, It would be amazing for me to speak to an older Transman, my journey would feel less lonely and finally hear someone who had a similar experience as me (where I live Trans people are not really that common especially older people). Thanks for the video
Haha, here is one right here. James and I corresponded in the mid 1990's when I joined FTM Int'l. He is a very grounded individual. Thanks James Green.
Of course it shouldn't be a 'competition' or anything but tbh I feel like transitioning is a bit easier for trans men than for trans women, in terms of social acceptance and physical changes. Especially with regard to moral panic and gendered features.
If it isn't a competition, why leave this comment? Trans men are being fiercely targeted by TERFs right now, and "moral panic" is a perfect way to describe things like Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters. Comparing trans men and trans women, on a video that is exclusively about trans men and doesn't at all seek to minimise other trans experiences, is unnecessary. Whenever trans men have conversations among themselves, someone inevitably comes out of the woodwork to say "someone else has it worse, actually". I mean, Jaden Fields describes being a survivor of child s*xual ab*use and a trafficking. Does that sound easy? According to the 2015 USTS, trans men and AFAB non-binary people experience the worst rates of lifetime s*xual ass*ult in the whole trans community. But nobody talks about that. Seriously, please, don't leave these kinds of comments. Someone always feels the need to say "well, actually" when trans men talk about what they go through, and it's just not necessary. Nobody's putting down trans women or minimising trans female struggles in this video!
I feel like it’s due to erasure though, we will rarely be seen as true men, simply tomboys or butch lesbians. It’s very hard to tell a trans woman that they’re not a trans woman due to how different they appear, but most trans men that start out early look like tomboys, sorry if that doesn’t make sense my English is bad😂
@@3ll3llyyy .. a lot of trans men do look way more like men than women imo. If you have quite a bit of facial hair, muscles due to testosterone, no breasts etc. it can be pretty difficult to call you a woman
@@sub-harmonik Even when trans men "pass" as male, we still experience inappropriate comments and violence when people find out about our pasts. That happened to Carter Brown. He was harassed by colleagues who were obsessed with asking him if he had a v*gina, and he's the most manly guy you can imagine. Life is not easy if you are a man who was assigned female, no matter how manly you look. Besides, not all trans men have access to testosterone which guarantee "quite a bit" of facial hair, muscles, or no br**sts. Assuming that all trans men pass as male, access the same medical treatments, and are rarely misgendered or called women is WRONG. Don't forget about trans men who can't/don't pass, cannot/will not medically transition, and trans men who struggle with poverty. I know trans men who have been on testosterone for a decade and are still misgendered, and therefore face violence. They're often called deluded lesbians, or tomboys. Their experiences matter. Not to mention the trans men who become pregnant, by choice or through violence. We face UNIQUE issues that should NOT be minimised. I am a trans man. Today I was harassed by a woman who knew me pre-transition. She called me a girl. I am a middle-aged man now, with a beard and a flat chest and the muscles you mentioned in your comment. That didn't stop this woman from mistreating me. Cis people will do all kinds of mental gymnastics to misgender trans people. Trans men are not safe from that. Even if people walking down the street don't always attack us, we're not safe around most doctors, or when seeking gynaecological care. We have hard lives.
seeing an older trans person give me so much hope
it's comforting to see older trans men... like we get to live that long jdbejdbsk

Hello. I'm not trans, but I am gay and in my middle 60s. I'm here if you need to talk, you are not alone.
Older trans dude reminds me of a Walter White (minus the drugs) - love this guy. Maybe a kind grandfather is a better way to put it?
